Great Book

Academy Lover

I still remember sitting on the seats in front of me, I felt like a nobleman sitting in the parliament but in reality, I was simply in the classroom.

I was the class president and the most successful student in the grand royal academy, the best magic academy in the whole world. I was successful but I wasn't popular, unlike the other noble kids that were rolled into this academy just because their father used a favor but I didn't hate them, they really didn't have a choice to reject their father's decisions.

After graduating with the highest grades at the age of eighteen, I became a teacher at this academy and I was still one.

The academy was still the same, the headmaster, the buildings, the ceremonies, everything was the same and I loved this academy but there was something different, after the great war the Goddess started to call people from other worlds into our world, all of them were gifted and all of them rolled into this academy, I was the teacher of heroes.

"Now class! We will learn to summon familiars, I will start with the easiest ones." I picked up a small blue slime and put it on the table, I pulled an apple from my academic robes and gave it to the slime and it became my familiar.

"Slimes are simple creatures, just give them food and they will be your friend. Vanish my familiar!" I commanded that the slime would vanish and he did.

"Now, I will show you how to tame an imp. They are sly little creatures and they are not suitable for kids. They feast on the owner's dark heart and try to drive the owner to evilness." I picked up a cage and removed the cloth from it, this was a small green imp that kept yelling.

"They are angry but it is fine. Just give them a drip of your blood and they will become your familiar for three days. After that they will leave their owner, they tend to get bored easily." I picked up the needle and stabbed my finger with it, I gave the drip of my blood to the imp and he stopped yelling, he was calm now.

"That will be it for this class." I took the imp's cage and left the classroom, I went to my office and tossed the cage in a corner, I was about to leave but the Imp called out to me.

"Yo! Don't leave me here man! I hate dark places! I want to meet the king too!" Imps were able to read the mind of their owners and this made them dangerous creatures, they would exploit a small darkness in a person's heart and grow that darkness while feasting on it but I was an adult and didn't really think an imp would beat me.

"Fine, I guess you can be invisible on my shoulder."

"Thanks, man!" He teleported out of his cage to my left shoulder and so I closed my office's doors and left the building.

Master of Everything

A middle-aged man was staring at a chessboard, he had golden hair, blue eyes, a well-built body and a golden crown on his head, he had a worried look on his face but all of a sudden he started to smile, he moved his piece and looked at me.

"That's a checkmate! Got you again, Taerg!" I looked at the board and realized he was right, I was checkmated by the king.

"Two for two, last game then?"

"Yeah, last game-" A knight rushed into the room with an envelope on his hands.

"Sir!" He handed the envelope to the kind and he started to read it, his face suddenly turned serious and stood up.

"I am sorry but something came up with the heroes. Let's finish this tomorrow if it is fine with you."

"Yes, of course. I will be going as well now." I left the room and started to walk to my carriage, the king prepared a carriage for my return every time I had a game of chess with him and the imp started to talk.

"Oho! Heroes before friends huh."

"Heroes are important for humanity-"

"Don't give me that bullshit. I know you don't like heroes."

"I like heroes but they are all gifted."

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

"So you hate talented people?"

"Talented and gifted are different things. One of them is not given by the Goddess and the other one is."

"But…." The imp kept bothering me with questions until I reached the office.

A Small Imp That Beat A Giant

"That's enough! I had enough of your shit!" I was angry now, I couldn't take this imp anymore and I was about to vanish him but then he said.

"I know what you want."

"Oh, you think you do? Tell me then, imp!"

"You want people to know your name. You want to see your name in history books."

"So what if I do!? Everyone wants the same thing! To be popular!"

"I like you man, you are a kind man and a good debater. I will give you a history book from the future about this time. Let's see if you will find your name." I laughed at this imp

A simple imp was going to bring a history book from the future? But I was wrong, a book appeared on my table, it was a book that I have never seen before. I couldn't believe my eyes and so I started to examine this book, every part of the book looked technologically advanced.

"Told ya. Us imps might look weak but we have some tricks up our sleeves." I instantly opened the book and started to read it, every page without my name made me feel unwell like something was starting to choke me.

My eyes were tired from reading and so I looked outside from my office and saw the moon, I was reading for more than seven hours and there were a couple of pages left in the book, I didn't have the balls to flip the pages anymore.

"Are you not going to read the rest?" He said with a smile on his face, I realized my glasses were dirty and picked up my tissue to clean it, I realized my hands were shaking like an old man and then it hit me. I was just going to be an old professor in the academy and I wasn't going to accomplish anything and so the hands of fate begun to fully choke me.

"You little sad creature." After hearing his words, I went crazy, I flipped my table and started to choke the little imp.

"It was all your fault! Everything it was your fault!"

"I-I did nothing but…I can still make your name famous!"

"How? Tell me!"

"They say fame comes with two forms, good and bad. If you kill a good person, your name will be written there!" He said, I was desperate enough to accept this way of thinking without any doubts, history remembered villains more than heroes.

"I…Can't….Breathe." This imp was right but I was a prideful man, I wasn't going to take advice from a simple imp and so I killed it. The body of the imp vanished into thin air, I started to think about what was I going to do and after thinking for five minutes, I started to laugh like a maniac.

"Amazing, Taerg. You are so smart! Let's kill the most famous hero and lucky for us, he is in our class!" I sounded like I was more than one person but that was a sign of my personality shattering and my humanity withering.

The Killing Day

An easy way to kill a hero was to use their great abilities against them and Lucian had a great fire magic in him. I sabotaged his staff and called him to practice, he was a boy at the age of twelve, he had brown hair and blue eyes. Most of the gifted people were born into a nobility and thus they had blue eyes.

After seeing me he had a worried look on his face, he walked up to me and asked me a question that almost made me lose my cool.

"Are you okay Teacher Taerg? You have bags under your eyes."

"O-Oh! That's because I was up all night reading a book."

"I see! Good then, where do you want me to shoot?" I pointed to a dummy and gave him the fire staff and so he started to cast his biggest fireball.

"Great Fireball! Attack-!" The fireball came out of his staff but it went to the wrong direction, it his face. He started to burn and scream like he was melting in lava, though his magic was so great that his great fireball could melt a castle, he fell on the ground but he was still alive, I couldn't take risks and had to kill him before anyone with a healing magic came.

I got on top of the child and started to choke him, his head was still burning and thus my hands got burned as well but I was able to kill him before anyone came, I heard people coming this way and quickly cast a water spell and picked him up like I was about to bring him to the infirmary.

"T-The fireball backfired!" I said in a horrified tone, I was a good actor and one of the teachers picked him from my hands and quickly teleported into the infirmary, the others saw my hands were burned and they were shocked.

A Death Of A Hero

After the incident, they also took me to the infirmary and a healer healed my hands, he was able to save my hands but they still looked burned. I was tired from all of this and started to lie in a bed in the infirmary but then the headmaster arrived, he was an old man with long hair and circle glasses, he also wore a blue robe to show he was the headmaster, he had a grim look on his face. I still needed to keep my act.

"Is he okay?!" I asked.

"I-I am sorry but…he died." He said I would be surprised if that kid didn't die but I needed to act surprised and regretful.

"If only I…"

"It is not your fault, the goddess gave him a great gift but it was too much for a child. You need to rest Taerg."

"Y-Yes, I really do." I put my head on the pillow and slept like a baby.

Just One More

A janitor knocked the door of Taerg's office but no one answered so he barged in, he saw the table on the ground.

"Those teachers, they are weird stuff." He said to himself, he started to clean things up and while cleaning things up he noticed a book, a weird book that made him curious, he put the book on the table and started to read it, there were a couple of pages left and this janitor loved reading book's endings and so he flipped the last page, he saw something that annoyed him.

"Professor Taerg's life? What? He isn't even a professor, that weird man must be writing his dreams here. He had three children? With her?! Sure, I am the king if that man managed to bang her. His fantasy is wild and interesting, still unrealistic though. Let's throw this in the trash, I hate that man looking at me and this will piss him off." And so the janitor threw the book into his trashcan and left his office.
