V3P31- The Glowing Mountains Inn

“Excellent!” Wild Potion declared. “My man will bring you to a place to rest. There will be a briefing early tomorrow morning. We’ll send you the time later and someone will bring you to the meeting tomorrow. Just be ready on time.”

It was a clear dismissal from the Champion of the Alliance. Victor gave the two Champions a polite nod before he walked out of the store. Mister Black was waiting for him. Victor gave him a quick nod to indicate that everything was in order. His son-in-law was smart enough to stay silent and Victor was grateful. There were a thousand things on Victor’s mind. The Champion has given him a lot to chew on.

Luckily, his first problem was easily solved by the waiting car. The hero who had driven him earlier was waiting for him.

“Master Fist,” the hero opened the door of the car as he greet Victor, “I am to drive you to the hotel where the villains of the Alliance are housed.”

Victor nodded. “Any idea who is currently overseeing the villains? Oh, and what are you called?”

“They call me Sun Raven. I am from Lantern City. I believe The Savage Six are in charge, though that would probably change as more people arrive.”

Sun Raven’s mask leaves his mouth visible, and Victor could see a small smile when he asked for his name. The hero was no doubt pleased that Victor had asked for his name. Victor always believed that it was better to butter someone up before digging for information.

“The Savage Six? I don’t believe I heard of them before.” Victor said as he entered the vehicle. Sun Raven went over to the driver’s seat and got in.

“I’m not surprised.” The hero said. “They are not a villain group per say, but the strike force of the Righteous Sons.”

“The…wait, the biker gang?”

“Yes,” the hero hissed. “The gang has many chapters throughout the Alliance and numbered in the thousands. Six of their strongest members formed The Savage Six. Usually, the Six are spilt over the various chapters but during an Emergency, they are called in.”

Victor was a little surprised by that. He knows the Righteous Sons as a biker gang in Velocity City and his crew has some contacts with them. The gang was not part of his crew, but they did business with each other. The biker gang has eyes on the road leading in and out of Velocity City and get a cut if the information they passed on to his crew pans out. The Sweet Crew has scored a few heists based on the information the gang provided. Victor wasn’t surprised there were other chapters of the biker gang on Nexus, but he did not know the Righteous Sons was that prominent in the Alliance. He will need to reconsider his working relationship with the gang once he gets back to Velocity City.

“Master Fist, we are here.”

The trip was faster than Victor expected, but then Glowing Falls was just a small town. Victor got out of the vehicle and saw that the car had stopped outside a small hotel called The Glowing Mountains Inn.

“Is this where we will be staying?” Victor turned at the robotic voice and saw Mister Black beside him.

“It is a little small.” Victor agreed.

There were various people in costumes walking outside the small inn and most of them stop and stare at Victor when he got out. Usually, Victor would feel good being the centre of attention, but he suspects they were out here because it was too crowded in the inn.

“This is just one of the places we are using to house the volunteers,” Sun Raven quickly explained. “Glowing Falls is small and there aren’t a lot of places to house so many people, but the Fraternity is doing their best. I am sorry Master Fist, but I have other duties.”

Victor nodded his thanks and watched as the hero got back into his vehicle. After he drove off, Victor turned back to the entrance of The Glowing Mountains Inn and walk through the open double doors.

The inside of The Glowing Mountains Inn was rather cosy, and Victor liked it immediately. The front foyer was well furnished with wooden walls, a plush red carpet, and a long counter for the concierge. Behind the counter was a shelf, one of those old fashion key holder shelf Victor only seen in movies. The rest of the foyer was lined with various pieces of art, mostly landscapes, and a few small chandeliers on the ceiling gave the foyer a bright yellow glow.

“Master Fist.”

Victor turned to the voice and saw that it was Bradley. For a moment, Victor was struck. He didn’t know what to call Bradley, Bradley never told him his villain name, and Victor couldn’t actually call him Minion One. So, Victor settled on a quick nod.

“How are things?” Victor asked. “Everyone settled in?”

“As well as we could expect. Space is a bit tight but we will make do. We did get you a private room though.” Bradley replied.

“Good. show me where it is, and call…Groovy Dagger,” Victor stopped himself from sighing as he said the name, “to meet me there.”

“This way, Master Fist. It is on the third floor.”

Bradley waved Victor to an elevator which unfortunately was not big enough for the power armour of Mister Black. He will need to use the stairs. Victor entered the elevator with Bradley and asked as they went up.

“By the way, you got a villain name I can call you by?”

“Well, I was thinking of going by Crimson Fighter, but I was told it was a little too generic.”

“Who told you that? Your father?” Victor remembered Bradley’s father. Anthony Brown was a veteran of the underworld and the man who pushed Bradley to join his crew.

“No. It was my girlfriend.” Bradley said with a chuckle.

“Ouch,” Victor immediately sympathized and gave him a pat on the back. “Tough luck. So, what’s your second choice?”

“Don’t have one.” Bradley admitted. “I was thinking of using the name anyway.”

A statement that had Victor nodding his head. He knows what that means. Nothing caused a breakup like a bad villain name. “So, you are looking to break up with her?”

“No, I will make it up to her in some other way.”

Victor’s brow raised at that. Bradley was either delusional or the girl must really love him. It takes a rare special woman to stick to a villain with a name she hates, but it wasn’t unheard of. Before he went to prison, Victor knew of a villainous duo named Lousy Hawk and Pathetic Phoenix, and those losers had girlfriends. Victor wondered what happened to them.

The door of the elevator opened, and Victor followed Bradley out into a long corridor. The heavy stomping told Victor that Mister Black was still making his way up the stairs. Bradley went to the hotel room at the far end of the corridor and open it.

“This is supposed to be the best room in the hotel.”
