“I’m pretty sure the world just ended.” I said to myself as I looked out the window. What I saw out there was a little piece of hell, brought to us courtesy of humanity's collective worst nightmares. The college I go to is pretty large. The scale of the school was the reason I wanted to go there. Right about now I was really regretting that decision. Since the school population was so large there was always a steady flow of traffic wherever you go. That fact just made what I was seeing so much worse.
Outside the window I saw a group of monsters tearing through the population of the street. They were huge, at least fifteen feet tall. Their skin a putrid green mottled with an earthy brown, stretched and gnarled with powerful muscle. I mean shit, the smallest one’s biceps were bigger than my head. They had a powerful underbite with tusks the size of my hand, and beady eyes that shone with malevolence. The beasts had a look of glee as they ripped, crushed, maimed, and caused general mayhem.
The insane amount of death and bloodshed happening right outside my window made me want to vomit. But I was able to fight it down. As I scrambled away from the window, I felt myself begin to start shaking. I had an incredible urge to roll myself unto the fetal position under my bed and cry for my mother. Just as that urge was about to become reality I slapped myself in the face. “James!” I yelled at myself. “ Get your shit together. Now is not the time to lose it.”

As I slowly got my nerve back, I tried and failed to ignore the screams and roars coming from outside. After a few minutes I look around my small dorm room for anything useful. Sadly, I’m a pretty boring motherfucker. All I had in my room was a bed, a desk with a book bag, some school stuff, and a dresser.
As I took stock of the few useful things I had, I tried to think about what I should do. I decided I should find somewhere away from campus to hole up until things got settled. But I wouldn’t get far without food, with that in mind I decided to head to the cafeteria before leaving campus. With a plan in mind I got to work gathering the few useful thing I could find. I grabbed the backpack off the desk and started stuffing it with clothes. Then I grabbed a notebook to record anything of note that I came across.
After one final look around the room to make sure I didn’t miss anything, I prepared to enter the hallway. I took a deep breathe and slowly cracked the door. After taking a look through the cracked door I closed it as quickly as possible. As soon as the door was closed I threw up.
The once beige walls of the hallway were now stained red and marred with claw marks. The air filled with the iron smell of blood. The power seemed to be out, but it was only 1:00pm and the hall was full of windows. I closed the door too quickly to get a good look, but I’m pretty sure I saw dismembered bodies all around the hall. As I sat with my back to the door trying to get the vile taste of vomit out my mouth, I tried to be positive about my chances of survival.
