God's domain
Prologue: God's Domain

Prologue: God's Domain

I gazed at several men ganging up on a lone young woman.

“Hey sweetie!” One of them said. “You wanna hang out with us tonight?”

The others laughed and tried to touch her.

She tried to fend them off, but they were too many

“Please…” Tears came down from her face. “Why?”

“Why you ask?” They all laughed together. “Because we can.”

I walked past them.

That’s how the society was. If someone could, they would.

It’s rather sad. Well, it’s not surprising actually. That’s how we humans were.

Greedy, pathetic, lying and selfish. No words were enough describe us.

Why did I walk past without trying to help?

Well, I knew that I could do nothing.

Who am I?

I’m but a simple citizen who sees everything, but does nothing.

So do you think I’m pathetic? I guess I am.

Soon the latest Virtual reality game would be released. It boasted of ninety five percent of reality. Supposedly, you could feel the wind blow in your face and the scorching heat of a dragon’s breath touch your face.

Its name was god’s domain.

I pre-bought the game and would play it directly when the server opened.

It’s a standard fantasy action MMORPG in which players strive to become the strongest and to reach the highest level.

But why is it different? What makes it stand out from the rest?

Well, it’s all about reaching god’s domain. The garden of Eden.

Do I want to reach the god’s domain, the garden of eden?

Yes, I want to.

But then again, It’s not like I do anything in reality either way.

I always watch and observe, never acted or intervened.

However, I know one thing.

I want to play.

I’m tired of this god-forsaken world, this world without essence or justice.

Therefore, I’ll play God’s domain.

Will god’s domain contain the essence I seek? I don’t know.

But if I find the garden of Eden, I’ll ask god. “Why did you leave us? Why did you forsake your children and leave us to our fate.

In my ten feet big apartment, in my bed – the new virtual reality helmet laid.

The silver-colored helmet shone in the rays of the morning sun.

“Stop shining, I hate light.” I pulled down the curtains by my window.

I picked up the helmet and held it in my chubby hands.

“When?” I hopped into the bed and watched the clock. “Ten minutes.”

“Ok.” I said. “I’ll connect, then wait inside until the game starts.

I put the helmet on my head. Yy long hair wasn’t covered completely, it hanged out from the helmet.

“Whatever.” I sighed. “It won’t matter if it’s outside.”

I took a big breath. “Connect.

A bright and resplendent light abruptly shone before my eyes.

Then, it went black. Pitch black.

It made me think. Is that how I lived my life, black without feelings?

Ten minutes after, a scenery appeared before me.

Beautiful mountains with a snowy peaks. Countless of rivers flushing through the green landscape below.

I felt the wind coursing through my long black hair as I became a streak of light soaring in the air toward one of the white mountain peaks.

Shortly after, I  landed in the snowy landscape.

I looked around me.

It was a land of snow. The color of white dominated the peak. No green at all could be seen.

But then I saw something, it was a beautiful maiden in a white dress. Above her head there was a golden ring.

“An angel?” I walked toward her. “So soon?”

She noticed me and smiled warmly, but I didn't return her smile.

“Greetings player 54732.” The maiden said. “Would you like to go to character creation?”

“Yes.” I replied.

The scenery I saw changed once again.

I was now inside some sort of cave. It was made by marble of a multitude of beautiful colors.

“It doesn’t seem to be a work of nature. A work of men? No. It has to be a work of god. Or maybe his angels.”

I saw an image of myself in the marble.

“Gross.” I wanted to puke upon seeing myself.

I turned around to face the angel.

“Can you randomize my look?” I asked the angel. “My sex as well. And make me look about twenty years old.”

“Sure.” She smiled her sweet smile. “What race?”

“What can I choose?” I frowned.

“Half-Demon, human or half-angel.” Her reply was automatic.

“Human” My instant reply caused the angel to become startled for a second, but then she returned to normal.

“So it seems even angels has emotions…”

In the mirror, a human of about twenty years old was shown.

“So young…”

The mirror displayed a guy with short black hair, sharp facial features and blue hazy eyes.

“Sure, that works.” I said.

“Finished?” The angel asked.

I replied dully. “Yes.”

“Where do you want to start?” She displayed countless of locations on the marble wall, making the image of my new appearance disappear.

“I don’t care. Just randomize.” I couldn’t care less of where I started.

“Are you sure?” She asked.

“Yes.” I just wanted to play now.

“Ok then.” She said. “You’ll spawn in the western continent, in the town of serat.

She continued:

“Human, town of serat. Yes?”

“Yes.”

She smiled. “I hope you enjoy your stay in God’s domain and I wish you good luck in finding the garden of Eden.”

She flicked her fingers, “Hood bye.”

I stayed mute as I once again turned into a flash of light and soared through the sky until I landed.

The soft lushy grass tickled under my feet. The sun shone brightly and I heard birds chirping in the trees.

“Finally.” I relaxed. “Finally…”
