The year is 2848 and humanity has spread its influence all over the solar system. It has entered into a golden age of science and engineering. With this era of explosive growth, humanity has had massive leaps in engineering. Planets once thought to be inhabitable now have flourishing cities. Humanity now has cites on Mars, Europa, Titan, And Enceladus.

During this time of expansion the company Planetary Robotics (or PR for short) announced it discovered a new particle that they believed would change everything. They claimed that this particle would be able to revolutionize the way people would live. They gave this miracle particle the temporary name of particle Z. After this announcement not much was heard from PR. After a year with no new information about Particle Z, rumors started to spread saying that they made it all up and that there really was no particle Z. When PR could no longer stay silent due to all the rumors, they were forced to make a statement. They claimed that the head scientist of project Z falsified the data and that none of it was true. Following this, the stock price of PR took a huge dive and PR faded into obscurity.

However, everything changed ten years later when PR started its invasion. Without any warning, hundreds of soldiers from PR started a campaign to take over the planet Enceladus. The police force was quickly overwhelmed and took heavy casualties. During the fighting the polices weapons were unable to pierce the strange bubble like shield the PR solders had surrounding them. The PR soldiers quickly claimed large tracks of land on Enceladus, anyone that resisted was met with overwhelming force and was killed.

Seeing PR killing without restraint, the United Union of the Americas (North, South, and Central America) labeled PR as terrorists and started a cleansing campaign saying, "It's for the good of mankind.", but their real motives were much less pure. They wanted the land for themselves and the technology being used by PR. Seeing The UUA taking the initiative The Empire (China, Japan, Russia, and the Koreas) also sent soldiers over. Of course the European Conglomerate (Europe, Africa, and Australia) didn't sit idly by, they also sent soldiers over to claim back their territory.

The fighting lasted for ten long years with the total defeat of the UUN, The Empire, and the European Conglomerate. None of the three super powers were able to push back the PR Troops. During the war when it was clear that they couldn't defeat PR the UUN, The Empire, and the European Conglomerate formed a peace treaty and combined their forces calling themselves the Alliance. With this combined force they should have won the war, but nobody could have predicted what happened next.

The CEO of PR came out to the front lines of the war himself. With a wave of his hand armies were doused with an unquenchable fire that made it seem like Hell visited earth. The ground also obeyed his command and formed great spikes beneath any heavy machinery. Every battle field he visited was left as a blackened and barren wasteland decorated with charred bodies and impaled machines, scatted around like modern art. The stench of death began to permeate throughout the air, and still to this day the stench of death lingers and nothing will grow. It is said on quite nights you can still hear the screaming voices of the burning soldiers pleading for the pain to end.

This was not the only factor that led to the demise of the Alliance. Probably the biggest factor was that no matter what strategy the Alliance employed PR was always a few steps ahead of them and countered it. If they were going to raid a base it would already be empty, if they sent forces into enemy territory to scout they were always immediately discovered and killed. To the Alliance it seemed that PR could see into the future. A year after the Alliance was formed, it was discovered that PR could somehow intercept all the Alliances messages and decode them. The scientists and programmers of the Alliance were stunned, it was supposed to be impossible. Even when gathering the brightest minds the Alliance could not find out how their messages were being intercepted. With these two blows it was only a matter of time until PR would be the undisputed victor.

After the ten years of war the CEO of PR named himself Führer and had complete control over all of humanity. This was the first time in all of history that all of humanity was under one rule. One of his first announcements as Führer, Stein revealed the first ever full immersion virtual reality game called Gods Amongst Men. Where people would learn how to use the Magic Gear and depending on their ranking he would award them gifts.

300 years have passed since Stein has assumed the position of Führer. People have started to call him The Undying One because he seems to have stopped aging. As long as anyone can remember, he has always looked the same. A normal looking middle aged man in his forties. If he was dressed in normal clothes he would look like a average person. However, that would never happen because he is always wearing flamboyant attire. Of course no one would be audacious enough to call him the Undying One while in his presence, for fear of their life. They would either address him as Führer or Führer Stein.

When Führer Stein first came into power, he gave positions of power to all the people who had Magic Gear and allowed them to do as they pleased as long as they paid him taxes each year. With this lax leadership the people with the power of magic started to oppress the people who didn't. Over the course of the 300 years, a clear divide was formed between the two groups. Those that had magic gear owned all the land and had all the power. They started to call themselves the chosen people (Nobles) and believed themselves to be superior to the common folk. The common folk became second class citizens and were treated as trash, often being taken as slaves.

During this time your social standing was largely determined by your family and how high your ranking in Gods Amongst Men. Families could rise or fall by the actions done in the game. Competition is fierce, alliances are formed and broken, assassinations run rampart, and corruption is in all layers of the government. Compassion and charity have virtually become nonexistent. Everything is about power and how you obtain it doesn't matter.
