Chapter 22: Elemental Food

Chapter 22: Elemental Food

“Thanks, cutie pie~”

Silveria happily accepted the 10 Windflora Seeds. As always, her friendly smile was disturbing, thanks to her intimidating, sharp teeth.

Silveria crushed the seeds into small bits, and gathered specific baby chicks for the treat.

“Peep~♪ Peep~♪”

The chicks sang in joy as they poked the green seeds with their tiny beaks.

“Can I feed them too? Pretty please~?”

Erika appealed to Silveria with puppy eyes, which she could only make in a child’s avatar.

“Sure, cutie pie. As long as you promise to not harm them.”

“Really!? Of course, I’ll never think of harming them!”

“Then come in, come in.”

Silveria opened the wooden door into her farm, and invited Erika inside.

“S-so cute~”

Erika almost had a seizure from being this close to the fluffy cuties. She tried to feed the chicks directly from her palms, but the young critters were wary of the stranger. Therefore, Erika had no choice but to spread the seeds on the ground.

“Peep~♪ Peep~♪”

Two chicks approached the meal and dug their fluffy faces into it.

“C-can I touch them!? Ple~ease?”

“Haha, sure. But be careful.”

“Yes, ma’am!”

Erika reached toward one of the chicks with a hand trembling from joy. The chick’s poofy fur was soft and fuzzy, soothing Erika’s soul.

The chicks finished their meal and left the area. Erika offered her spare Windflora Seeds to continue the mesmerizing scene, but Silveria rejected them. Too many elemental seeds weren’t healthy for younglings.

“Then, what about the other chicks? They didn’t get any seeds at all!”

Erika pointed at the group of starving chicks, who weren’t lucky enough to be picked for the feeding.

“Sorry, cutie pie. It’s important to feed younglings properly, or else they won’t grow up right.”

Silveria explained the consequences of feeding elemental food to younglings. When a critter consumed food with an element, it gradually developed an elemental affinity. This allowed the critter mature into a special, magical creature.

A diet, which consisted of multiple elements, was discouraged. Shoving different elements into one animal usually resulted in no elemental affinity whatsoever. It was a waste of both time and resources.

The Windflora Seeds had the wind element stored in them. Hence, only chicks which were raised for the wind affinity were allowed to eat them. Erika noticed that all these chicks had green spots on their poofy furs, and some of them were entirely green.

“You seem to be very interested in this subject, cutie pie. When you grow into a bigger shrimp, then I’ll gladly offer you space in my farm, so you can try it out for yourself.”

“I can raise my own cuties?!”

“Sure, sure. It won’t be for free, of course.”

Silveria patted Erika and handed the quest’s reward.

【QUEST COMPLETED】【Silvera’s Farming Series: Windflora Seeds】

【Obtained 100 pieces: 6 [Water], 14 Earth, 13 [Speed], 7 [Communication], 5 [Absorption], 6 [Aura], 4 [Telekinesis].】

The number of the pieces didn’t add up to the total. Some of these pieces were probably worth more than “1 piece”.

“You were such a hard worker, so here’s something special for you, cutie pie. A little cutie like you needs something to protect herself.”

【Obtained Silver Knife.】

“Thanks.”

Now, Erika could bring even more destruction to the scummy fodder flowers. Though, for now, she safely stored her deadly weapon in the Dimension Vessel.

“Truth to be told, I could use more help from a hardworking cutie like you. Make sure to check out my next request~”

【Silvera’s Farming Series: Waterflora Seeds】

【Next, I’d like you to give some love to the chicks of the water element and bring me 20 Waterflora seeds. Don’t let the little cuties starve~

You can find Waterfloras south of the Murph Village. They are big flowers with blue petals.

Reward: 250 pieces】

It was almost identical to Silveria's first quest, such uncreativity was common in MMORPGs. Either way, Erika was definitely going to complete the task, in order to feed cute, little chicks again~
