Trinity, the first child

Trinity, the first child

“*Slurp* Aaaah! Now that is some quality ginfal!” August took another swig out of the oddly shaped urn like container that contained his favorite drink, ginfal.

“This ring magic though… blood binding? What a convenient object.” When he had swam to shore the urn of ginfal, a golden ring and a compass all appeared in front of him. The ring had a note attached to it, saying to cut his finger. He was surprised when the ring disappeared once the blood dripped on it.

“Now… time to find some children!” August stood up and followed the compass along a horribly made path.

August looked around as he walked, seeing creatures he didn’t think could exist in a forest. Monkey’s with four arms and four eyes, centipedes  taller than trees, dogs with three eyes and six legs. He even saw a black horse with horns and sharp teeth! It truly was an amazing sight.

“I wanna fight all of these creatures! HAhaha!!” With that August rushed forward, creating a crater in the ground. He was eager to see these children.

*Screeeeech!* August jumped back just in time to avoid being cleaved head to toe by a large beast paw.

“Ho ho ho. Its been awhile since something started a fight with me.” In front of August was a massive beast. It had four legs like a cat, yet hard scales lined its body. Both of its slanted eyes indicated it was a feline, but August had never seen a cat like this.

*Groooowl* Without warning the beast leapt at August, intending for an easy kill. Instead it was met with a massive fist to the face, sending it flying.

“Come kitty! Show me what this thing called magic is!!” August taunted, arms wide open. As if it could understand him the beast opened its mouth and mana began to take shape in the form of a ball. August’s eyes widened at this.

“This is magic!!” The ball shot out of the cats mouth at fast speeds. Well, for a normal person.

“I’m amused, but not impressed. Though I doubt you're the strongest here.” August caught the ball out of mid-air, barely feeling anything as the ball touched his palm.

“Die for me, cat.”

Trinity’s pov

“You damn thief! Get back here!!!” A well built old man was currently chasing a slim teenager who looked to be about 14 years of age. The teenager, or thief, had long blue hair and a small set of fox ears on top of her head. A thin mask was wrapped around her mouth, preventing one from seeing all of the thief’s features.

“Sorry Genka, I need to survive as well!” The thief shouted back. With more grace than a teen should have the thief jumped on top of a nearby carriage, then on to a wall and scurried up it like a spider, her previous grace all but forgotten.

“DAMN YOU TRINITY!!”

“Miss Kayla, I brought you some fo--” Trinity stopped mid sentence as she saw a massive man sitting in the orphanages office. He looked to be about 8 ½ feet tall, giving him a powerful aura. Fierce white hair flowed back from his head, matched with a neatly tamed beard. He had large tribal markings all over his body, as well as scars. Beneath his lower back was a very long sword, which looked to be at least six feet long! His eyes were pure white, almost glowing. Trinity’s beastwoman instincts were screaming at her to run. Her muscles felt like jelly and try as she might the jelly wouldn’t move.

“Ah Trinity your back. IS THAT!!-- DID YOU STEAL FROM MR.GENKA AGAIN!?” A busty redheaded woman shouted. This redheaded woman was in fact the caretaker for the orphanage. She had a small scar above the ridge of her red eyes. She had a stern expression on her face while glaring at Trinity.

“Uhm.. well...well you see… you see I just!!---” Trinity was forced to duck as a small ruler came flying towards her head with pinpoint accuracy.

“The kids are hungry and Genka is the son of a rich noble!! A couple of fruits and berries won't hurt his supply at all!” Trinity yelled, a slightly angry expression on her face.

*Cough*Cough* Both heads turned to look at the large man who currently sitting down with a slightly bemused expression on his face.

“As funny as this is we should get down to buisness, Mrs.Kayla.”  The large man said. Before she could stop herself Trinity shouted

“That’s Fenhorn to you!”

“Trinity!”  Once again Trinity dodged an incoming ruler, but this one managed to skim her side.

“Hot! Hot hot hot!!” She frantically blew along her side, friction from the ruler heated her skin.

“You will show this man respect! He is here to adopt a child!” With one stern glare Mrs.Fenhorn quieted down Trinity.

“I apologize for the interruption. I assume you wish to see the children now? Please, follow m-” Kayla stopped as she realized the man had a compass in his hand, and the compass was pointing at Trinity.

“Hahaha, just perfect! She’s the one I need!” The man said, his voice loud and boisterous.

“Trintiy?”

”Me?” Kayla and Trinity said simultaneously.

“That’s what I said.” The man replied.

“This is great!! Trinity did you...hear...that?” Kayla quieted as she saw the tearful expression on Trinity’s face.

“I won't! I won't go with that man! I’m never leaving here!!” She said. She turned and jumped out the window, falling two short stories to the ground.

“Trinity!! Wait!!” Kayla shouted, but it was no use. Trinity had already left.

“Mr.August I profusely apologize! She was left at our doorstep when she was just a babe and since then she has grown extremely attached to this place. I assure you I can convince her to be adopted.” Without waiting for an answer Kayla turned and ran down the steps.

August Pov

“What a pain..” August muttered. After three days of traveling he had finally managed to find a place to stay, yet what he found was unlike anything he had ever seen. The area or”Kingdom” as he had learned was surrounded by 12 ft tall stone bricks in a circular pattern, providing defense all around. He was questioned and threatened by some gate guards until he told them he was from a far-away place. Persuasion and a little bit of gold and he was inside scot free. He was surprised that he could understand what they were saying, but his guess was that the kid had something to do with it.

After a bit of searching he found the orphanage. It was quite plain, and in his opinion overly large. Two stories of a small rectangular house that looked to be stacked on top of each other with old and decaying wood. A couple children had stared at him excitedly as he walked up the stairs but none of them said anything. He then met a polite yet stern woman named Kayla, who eye’d him warily when he first came. However she quickly changed her attitude when she heard he wanted to adopt.

And now he has been waiting two hours for the child named Trinity to come back.

“I wonder what is so special about her? I have seen more than a few people with animal body parts so I don’t think it is anything unusual…” August muttered. Indeed, while he was a bit shocked when he saw his first beastman he handled it perfectly, asking a few questions about what he was. The man looked at him strangely when he asked but was more than willing to do so after a bit of “Persuasion” (Money)

August ripped out a piece of wood, grabbed some money out of the ring and wrote a note saying

“Sorry for the board. I am going to find some place to stay. I will give the girl the rest of the day to come to terms. I am more than willing to pay a hefty sum for the girl. I will come here later tomorrow.”
