Chapter 1.1: When one couldn’t accept the fact... Just faint.
Cold...
Death was cold and silent. She thought that, after her death, she would need to meet up with a death god or something similar, yet, what she met was nothing except the pitch black surrounding engulfing the existences of the sound and the heat.
She whispered in her own mind that death was too lonely as she slowly closing her eyes…
Either during her death or after death, there was no one near her. Fear slowly creeped into Ye Xia’s heart as she stared at the seemingly endless pitch black space. Who knows where she would ended up to? It could be the hell since she has never been a good person. But, it could also be the heaven because she had died pitifully. When talking about her death, she had let the flame burned her together with her beloved mansion, yet, rather than the raging hot fire she felt previously, she could only felt the algid cold.
As she closed her eyes slowly, a countless bubble of memories flooded in her mind. Her family has never given her the attention that she seek for even until her last breath at the age of 20 years old.Tears flowed down her cheeks as her lip curved into wry smile. She has always envied her other sibling, whether from the same mother or the other mother. They always had been the brightest among their peers. Despite her effort and cheerful personality, everyone regarded her like an eyesore, which her act only annoyed others. The fact that she has never been liked by anyone, which led her to make the decision to leave the world behind
“Perhaps, this is for the best…” she murmured as she smiled bitterly.
Who knew how many hours or days had passed by when Ye Xia only let herself floated in the endless stream of darkness. Her body felt light as her heart at peace. Within the silence, there was a gentle voice that kept calling out to her from somewhere and it has been going on for many hours. At first, she thought that it was only her imagination so she ignored it. When suddenly beyond her expectation, the warmth gently embraced her whole body and she immediately opened her eyes.
Out of a sudden, a bright light surged in from somewhere and penetrated her whole body whilst getting rid of the darkness, the light was blinding her sight and made her lose consciousness.
…
“Xia Er!”
An old man with long white beard abruptly hugged Ye Xia as soon as she woke up from her deep slumber. The man was sobbing as he patted Ye Xia’s head and made her confused at the current situation. She couldn’t recognize the place and its people, even the old man that was hugging her, so, out of pure curiosity, she blurted out “Who are you?” and received a strange look from everyone. They either blinked or muffled their mouth in surprise by her question. She also couldn’t help but to frown after seeing the traditional looking clothes that they were wearing. Somehow, she realized that she was also wearing the same clothes but in white.
The old man gently released her from his tight hug before standing up and backed away a few steps while staring at Ye Xia. His face slightly reddened either enraged or saddened in Ye Xia’s question. He squinted his eyebrows for a second before he turned to face a man in the white uniform. The old man abruptly pulled that man’s collar toward him and shouted in anger tone “Explain!” and as soon as he raged, everyone at the place immediately knelt down and bowed while begging him to calm down.

Ye Xia flinched after his shouting, but she knew that loud tone was not meant for her. She had no idea who the man was and who these people were. She supposed to be dead and the current situation that she faced didn’t relate to either heaven or hell that she had in her mind. Overwhelmed by the confusion, she chose to pinch her own cheek, "...squishy... Ow!" and accidently pinched her flesh severely. Hard to believe but this was the reality that happened before her.
She believed that she has reincarnated, She was granted a second chance at life in a new body and the question was in whose body?
“Hey, you mister over there, do you know who I am?”
Her impolite questioning while pointing towards the old man who was angry a moment ago without slightest fear had caused everyone in the room to immediately panicked. They spoke incoherently that Ye Xia only able to catch some of it. Apparently, the man that she pointed at was the owner of her current body’s grandfather, the master of the place. Despite the bleak mood in the room, she stared at him and stubbornly asked the same question again.
At that moment, everyone's expression changed from pale to lifeless. When the old man moved closer to Ye Xia. She was prepared to hear another scolding, however, instead of getting angry, he actually pouted like a kid with his eyebrows curved upward and made his forehead's wrinkles visible. He sat beside her bed as he clasped her shoulders and said in a grief tone, "Xia E'r, don't you worry. From now on, no matters what happens, I will be here for you." and as he gazed at her eyes, he forced a smile as he exclaimed in relief, "I'm just glad that you are alive...". Afterwards, he let go of her shoulder and ordered a few servants to stay and keep an eye on her in the room before leaving the room with a crowd of people.
When everyone saw the house master was already leaving, no one dared to explain anything to her and they just hurriedly left from her room while leaving her alone with a girl who wore a worn out and dull colored yellow traditional hanfu. In fact, everyone that she saw previously were wearing a traditional hanfu but with much brighter color. Somehow, she realized that there was no one she could rely on now. However, due to her quick witted mind trying to figure out the situation, she ordered the girl to wait outside of the room.
The girl fretted either to stay according to the master's order or to obey the young master's order. Ye xia ordered her again, and this time in more stern voice, which made her quickly exited the room. As soon as the girl closed the sliding door made of thin wood and plastered with decorative paper like in those ancient chinese drama, Ye Xia immediately went to search for a mirror.
While searching for a mirror or any metallic things like large pot vase that had a smooth surface for reflection, she was questioning inside her mind, “Why ‘Xià’[For Masculine] and not ‘Xiá’[For Feminine]" and “Why did I have such a deep voice?”. She already guessed the answer for it but she doesn’t want to admit it yet. Even though the first thing that she already noticed and caused her to make the assumption was her hands that were bigger with longer fingers than what she used to have and the traditional chinese cloth that she was wearing was not for girls, still she refused to admit it.
Her eyes fixated on the light that was reflected by the bronze round-shaped metal item on the top of the small closet. She crawled to the bronze quickly. Then, when she saw the reflection in it, her mouth simultaneously opened in surprised. She rubbed her sharp jaw and thick eyebrows at the same time. Panicking at what she had see, her hand touched her chest that felt like a flat board as her mouth gaping, "My cups..." and then the other hand grope onto something that she could felt shriveling in between her leg before her whole body fell backward on the floor.
After hearing a loud thud, the girl quickly entered the room and panicked.
“Young Master! Someone! Please help, Young Master has collapsed again!”
Refused to believe the undeniable phenomenon that happened to her, the voice of the girl shouting sounded very distant as Ye Xia’s consciousness faded slowly.
Now, she had no choice but to admit that she had become a ‘Man’.
