Chapter 7: The Merchant Guild
Tomini decided to depart to the capital as soon as he could but he needed someone that knew the countries location, he needed to leave the instructions for the elder as well. If more villagers were going to come to the village then he would need more houses. "Elder please have a group of villagers commence construction on some houses." Tomini said. The elder nodded in agreement.
The lucky person that Tomini decided to take with him was Ren. Tomini would need to go back to his house and get a hold of Ren. When talking with ren during his practice Tomini told him "Ren we will depart to the closest fief governed by a noble. I trust you know the way." Tomini said not sure if Ren actually knew the direction of the empire.
"Yes lord Tomini." Ren replied with the least bit of hesitation. Tomini pulled up his admin console and took out a cloak for Ren. The cloak white with blue linings, it had the ability to allow the user to fly. Tomini didn't want to carry Ren all the way to his destination. "Thank you Lord Tomini!" Ren bowed.
Ren began to levitate once he put the cloak on, he couldn't control it and started spinning, as he was spinning he began to throw up. The force caused by rotating faster and faster caused the vomit to smack Ren in the face causing him to through up even more.
"Crap I should have thought him how to fly first." Tomini regretted, but alas it was too late ren was covered in vomit. Raising his hand Tomini spoke "Dark Attribute: Negate Flight" dark magic circles appeared around Tomini and a spell shot out of his hand towards Ren. When the spell landed Ren stopped spinning and fell from the air bumping his head on the floor.
Tomini decided it would be best if he went alone he asked Ren to clean himself and point him the right direction. Flying by his lands Tomini noticed there were plenty resources ripe for the takin there were fertile grasslands lakes full of freshwater and fish. There was even a giant redwood forest. "I should check that out." thought Tomini. Just over the horizon, Tomini could just make out the silhouette of a city surrounded by walls of stone.
It appeared that he was almost there. Having given a lot of thought Tomini decided he would go against the idea of setting the whole city on fire. Thinking of what happened in the old world he wanted to take over the world without taking innocent lives. It was a battle of morality. Tomini decided it would be best if he went in unnoticed.
Tomini went invisible once he had finally arrived at to an empty alleyway he came down from his flight. Removing his invisible spell he came out of the alleyway. The city street was bustling with traffic shops were open everywhere. He needed to find a shop capable of selling enough food.
"Hey mister, mister!" a child's voice called out to Tomini it was a 4-foot boy. "I can see you're looking for something I can help you, you know." the boy said enthusiastically. "How can you help me?" Tomini stated thinking the boy wanted to swindle him. "What's in it for you ?" Tomini continued. "I need medicine for my kid sister but I don't have any money." the boy answered. "Very well how much will it cost me." inquired Tomini. "10 copper coins." replied the boy. "Ok let's go I need to to find a market place or something that can sell me large amounts of commodities." Tomini finished.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
The boy pretended he was twiddling a mustache and sated "Then you'd be looking for the All-mighty Barcelo Merchant Guild they carry just about everything." The boy lead Tomini to the Guild while observing the streets he noticed guard being bribed, "Tch scum" Tomini thought he was disgusted by the current state of the empire.
"Here we are sir" the bot stuck his hand out expecting his payment. Tomini paid the boy and sent him on his way. The doors on the guild house were 12 feet high making the tallest man be dwarfed in comparison. The door was made out of wood lined with a silvery colored metal. It was most likely had no value since it would be asking people to come and steal the metal of the door. It did, however, create the illusion of grandeur. Stepping in Tomini was Imeiatly greeted by a man "Hello what can I do for you?".
"I was looking for enough food to feed 300 people over the course of winter." asked Tomini. The man started pondering making calculations of the cost for the amount of food. "That would be... 8 gold coins and 50 silver coins." the man told him. It appeared that Tomini didn't have enough, Tomini decided to pull out 3 pieces of Frost Iron. "I just discovered this a while ago how much can I get for this?"
The man was shocked it was a kind of metal he hasn't seen before "Please waite here." The man urged Tomini. The man had left and in came a 16-year-old looking guy. The guy had fiery red hair and a temper to match. "Hey! Hey, You their!" the guy pointed his finger at Tomini. Tomini decided to ignore him. "I'm talking to you!" The red-haired guy said getting uncomfortably close to Tomini. It looked like trying to ignore the guy wasn't going to work.
"Can I help you?" Tomini said he was visibly annoyed. "Yea take your poor self out of here I don't want to be breathing the same air you are!" roared the red-haired guy. "Why should I? I was here before you weren't I?" Tomini maintained his cool.
"I'm the son of Baron Eler, Arthur. So you better do what I say!" Demanded Arthur. Tomini realized it was useless trying to reason with him and gave up he began ignoring him again. Luckily the man that was helping Tomini with his purchases came back, but he didn't come back alone there was another man with him an older man, around 40 years old. "Please step this way sir" the 40-year-old man motioned Tomini to enter into another room where they could discuss the rare metal ore he had found.
"Come back here coward!" were the last words that the young noble spoke before Tomini had left. The young noble didn't know it but he had offended the most powerful man on the planet. "The next time I meat you will be on the battlefield." Tominit thought to himself.
"Where did you find this? Do you have any more pieces of this? Whats do you call it?" the 40-year-old man bombarded Tomini questions about the metal ore. "I call it "Frost Iron" No I only found these 3 pieces by luck they were just laying on the ground. " explained Tomini.
Tomini was wary of the man he didn't want to give the location of his mine. "I can give you 35 gold pieces each I'd offer more but I'm not sure if we are able to make useful items out of it." the man offered Tomini. Although Tomini didn't know the actual price of the ores he wasn't too pressed on money issues what he needed the most right now was skilled labor and food for his people. "I'll accept only if you lower the price to 30 gold and if you send find some blacksmiths I can take to a village I'm staying in" Tomini made a counter offer.
"You've got yourself a deal!" the 40-year-old man stood up in and shook Tomini's hand. We will send carriages with your supplies and workers to your village's location they should arrive within 2 days. Tomini remembered that he had sent word to the empire about his claim to the land. If it took 2 days on carriages to get to the empire from this feudal territory then I would take longer for the villager to send word to the empire that was further away. This bought Tomini time to prepare a small army. "Very well I will take my leave, I will expect my purchases to arrive on time."
Tomini decided to leave through an empty alley the same way he came in but was stopped by a chubby man wearing a burgundy suit and a mustache on his face. "I can smell the gold on my good sir please step into my shop you're looking for a slave aren't you? That's why you're here in this alley right?" the slave trader said. Tomini was intrigued not because he wanted slaves but because although it wasn't out in plain sight the slave traders business wasn't hidden either.
Tomini decided to indulge in his curiosity and stepped inside the building.
