THE BOUNTY HUNTERS [PART TWENTY]

THE BOUNTY HUNTERS [PART TWENTY]

“Hold fire.” Samuel orders as he spots the hallmarks of ancient, arcane power.

From the periphery of visual perceptions the blurring form of Auditor Manara arrives in full force. A fist of power cracks like distant lightning as the monster sends forth a dividing bar of energy directly at the projected shield. Two fields of gravity intersect with lethal consequence; molecules of dust and air compressed together by impossibly powerful forces combusting matter into plasma.

A flash of light burning, shield broken in a glowing shower of blue flames as distant crosshairs align on target.

“Clear to fire.”

Auditor Manara shuts her eyes momentarily as the Bandit Leader in front of her literally explodes; gore raining down from a cloudless sky, her cold focus reorients as red mist clears from vision.

To her direct right a squad of eight Steel Front bandits sprint from cover with weapons blazing. Untrained fire sends bullets snapping by the form of Auditor Manara, the being raising a hand towards them.

An expenditure of energy as eight bodies are brought together in terrifying union, their frames crushed into pulp between two walls of pure gravity.

“That is a form derived from the arcane school of danar.” Samuel blinks as he watches Auditor Manara perform the maneuver, a concerning precedent laid bare. “We will need to terminate her when the conflict is complete, before her attention turns to us.”

“I am in agreement.” Samantha blinks through her scope as she tracks the monster.

“I estimate forty five seconds remain until total elimination of the criminal collective.” The boy informs.

“Understood.” The girl replies.

In cold words eyes flash blue, the boy watching as the creature carves through the Steel Front gang with projected swords of gravimetric energy. “Shift target: Collective Auditor designation Manara. Distance: five hundred hundred and ten meters, wind speed change: one point two kilometers per hour northward. Aim point: upper torso.”

Within the mining pit caloric energy burned in the tens of thousands, augmentation roaring as heat emanates from the metal body. Hunched and breathing the woman scans the battlefield at the falling action of warfare. Wild frenzy reeled in a centered mind reaches forth into the world, finding the final surviving souls of the criminal collective.

The Auditor detects four remaining beings huddled together, hiding within the debris of conflict. No emotion within flesh and steel as the monster swiftly sends forth a wide blade of gravity towards the beings; their lives ended in an instant as carved bodies are sent flying amongst tattered plastic and steel rods.

Silence beneath the Five.

The only sounds amongst the ruins of carnage a burning fire and a recentering breath, Manara rescuing herself amongst the broken. A reminder of her true duty to the Collective, she blinks as glowing eyes fade into irises of stained blue.

A perpetrator of an utter apocalypse, a huntarus audmotum unfound among the strewn bodies.

Manara stops as she shuts her eyes, a breathing pattern stabilized into an artificially precise cycle.

A homecoming in a steel city across oceans of sand and rock. The scent of food, spice and oil across the heated wind. Voices surrounding her in the bustling city market, an Auditor subtly hidden within the crowds of the mid-day rush. The watchful gaze over siblings, an oath older than that of nations and gods; one made to a collective bound in blood.

The twenty five millimeter armor piercing round impacts through her upper torso as arcane armor shatters against divinity, the twins watching as the body collapses onto a dying world.
