Gluttonous little crow chapter 23

sorry have not been puting chapters in as much as before the reason being that my three year old cousin came to my house for the holidays till New Years, she became kinda atatched to me and I ended up taking care of a three year old little girl for a while. Not the easiest of things aperently also doesn't leave you much free time, some how she didn't run out of energy and can't be distracted by tv.

Just something I'm adding I found a novel I wrote on an old google chrome account I looked at from about a year and a half ago. I wrote about seventy chapters but the grammar is terrible and it doesn't flow very well because of the fact that it was written on my phone when I was on the bus on my way back from school. I read it, made sence of it and like it so I'm editing it and have put it up under the name The Cloacked Fallen if anyone is interested in checking it out.

Chapter 23: Physical techniques

Lisa sat in her office looking at reports which she didn’t know how to respond to, her first and most obvious choice was to ignore them. These reports were notices of complaints from nobles and some of the medium sized clans in regards to Aion disrespect towards their children and his conduct as a knight.

In regards to this she had no real reason to do anything about it, after all it was helping distract the nobles from all the other commoner knight students and out of those they produced some good talents.

The only thing that truly did bother her was Aion’s choice in attire, namely his assassin’s clothing. In terms of reputation and conduct assassins were the furthest things from a knight and he decided to wear clothing that would only be appropriate for a top assassin.

On top of that he hid his presence too well at all times it was getting to the point where even she had to put some effort into locating him of feeling his presence when he was nearby. But that could all be reasoned away because of his grandfather who was clearly some sort of hidden expert assassin who trained Aion a bit to well.

A year had passed since the knight students brought their respective mounts or borrowed a horse from the academy. During this time Aion brought an extremely rare creature, a fifth rank devil bull. If it could even be called a devil bull it’s body was massive reaching three meters in hight and approximately six meters in length.

Aion declared that this was his “teacher” and would fight with him, but only if the opponent also used a beast at or above the fourth rank. Having seen this Lisa no longer worried about Aion’s safety in the knight department and decided to make Aion her personal student.

As her personal student he would receive the jealousy and scorn of the nobles as she had not taken a personal student before and their pride would most likely not allow them to loose a good position to a commoner.

The various clans however would care little as the knight department was mostly for those that wished to directly serve the kingdom and most of them joined the various other departments following their clans ways. Only small or medium sized clans would attempt to become Knights for the kingdom in an attempt to get closer to some nobles.

But regardless today she would take on her own personal student, leaving her office in high spirits she walked towards the dorm Aion was staying in.

Reaching the dorm she took notice of the large tree that had somehow formed a core, this became a great topic for some instructors but quickly died down as it was found that the tree was Aion’s beast and he would not give information on what he did to it.

Knocking one the dorm room door she received a couple of curious glances and some content looks from the little noble most likely thinking that she was there to deal with the so called Gluttonous Knight.

This title, although mocking, truly did fit Aion as he ate ungodly amounts of food every day. The one to open the door was a tall thin boy with a bow on his back.

“Greetings knight department head Ms. Carnation, is there anything I can assist you with.” Although the boy sounded polite he didn’t have much respect for her, the reason was simple Bar the one handed sword also stayed in this dorm room.

Because of some conflicts with the noble children they had taken their action to far and removed one of his arms.

And all she had done was reprimand them and give them a temporary leave, from her point of view she believed that as long as they didn’t kill him, she could not expel those children as they were from the higher nobles. This was something she came to regret as Bar showed immense talent after recovering from his injury.

“Student call for Aion, I have business to discuss with him.” The student looked towards the large tree.

“Department head If he’s not sleeping there, then he might be at the cafeteria other than that the only way to find him is to wait here.” Hearing that answer Lisa once again looked at the large tree and examined it closer this time. She was astonished at what she saw on a branch sat Aion directly looking at her.

What surprised her even more was that Aion could almost completely hide his presence from her as she hadn’t noticed him before. Disregarding her thoughts she spoke to Aion in a friendly way to get him to accept her as his personal instructor.

“Aion come down here, we need to speak.” Normally being accepted was a given but she basically forced him into the knight department when he clearly had more talent in becoming an assassin and wanted to be one. Aion quickly descended from the tree Wearing his full assassin attire.

“Greetings.” Lisa smiled seeing that Aion didn’t avoid her or held any contempt from his tone of voice.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

“Aion we need to talk about some things but from now on you will be my personal student and the only one I have, that is of corse if you are willing.” Aion didn’t think it over very long.

“Yes this student is willing.”

“Good. Good. Then let's head to my office and we will discuss some things about your future.” Saying this she grabbed aion’s hand had moved at a speed most wouldn’t be able to see. In her office Lisa sat Aion down and examined him very carefully.

“Aion to better instruct you, I need you to tell me what your element is and what level your on that way I can help you train.”

“Can't.” Lisa stared at him somewhat agitated he was now her student and it would be impossible to help him if she didn’t even know what element he trained in.

And although she was using him to distract the nobles from the other commoner students in her department she still wished for her fist personal student to be someone she could be extremely proud of.

“This is exactly what I mean when I say you should explain more. Look you've made her mad.” Lisa was surprised by the sweat and charming voice that seamed to come out of nowhere.

“Head I do not fully understand my element and have yet to form a core.” This was one of the most complete things she had ever heard come from Aion and its content distracted her from the phantom voice.

“You… You haven't formed a core? How is that possible I saw you fight peak primary student and win easily.” Aion’s next actions really surprised her but she would not let that show, he Hagen to take off his clothes. With the upper half of his body exposed she was now able to see strange runes tattooed onto his body.

“Those are the runes you were talking about during duels?”

“Yes.” Lisa thought about it and decided that she had too little knowledge on how to help Aion progress. “Can you circulate elemental energy in your body. You should have reached the intermediate rank correct.”

“No… I can only fight with my body.” This was now truly giving her a headache, all the fighting stances she knew focused on cooperation with elements to make them work. Without elemental energy they would just be strange and mostly pointless body movements.

Thinking about it there were only two thing she could strive to teach him and neither was from her knight department.

The first was a movement technique belonging to the assassins trained by placing bells on the body with the goal of making it so that the bells would not make noise when in movement.

The second was a collaboration technique recently made by the archery department and the spear department called Inner Spear Shooting Bow in which a person uses his or her tendons and muscles to shoot themselves and their fists like a spear being shot from a powerful bow.

As head of the knight department she had access to both techniques but teaching them to her student would be complicated.

“Okay tomorrow I'll have two techniques ready for you, also leave your assassin clothes hear and I'll have them slightly modified to make you look more like a knight without completely disregarding your needs as an assassin.” Aion looked at her wondering what kind of techniques he could use without having to use elemental energy and was happy thinking that he could train in some other useful techniques.

“Thank you instructor.” Saying that he put back on his shirt and left to change and leave his clothes with his new instructor.

Having left his clothes with his new instructors Aion headed to the forest he was now ready to inscribe another six runes to make a total of fourth five runes. Lately his growth was extraordinary, the only down side was the excruciating pain that came with his growth.

The second reason he was now going to do was test something that had been on his mind for a while after completing the twenty seventh rune. Reaching the forest Aion found a nice clear space and sat down while forming the array he was extremely familiar with, using the gray elemental energy in his soul.

Once it was completed he really the familiar headache from tearing pieces of his soul. This set of six runes were lead to his chest, the pain that followed brought Aion enough pain o almost make him lose consciousness.

Having completed the new runes Aion brought out the food he stored in his personal space and ate enough to fill twenty grown men. Once he recovered Aion began to test what he thought of after the twenty seventh rune but was unable to.

Simply put he knew that he could change from human to crow but now he wanted something in between. He was trained to fight as a human so he was considerably more confident in his fighting ability in human form but his speed and defense were much greater in his crow form.

As a crow his feathers were comparable in hardness to second ranked shield and his flight gave him more speed. As for flight in human form Aion still believed that he couldn’t accomplish it but lining his body with feathers should be.

While sitting Aion began to transform constantly going between human and crow form to deal the Chang and hopefully control it. After three hours of nonstop transformations he gained some success and was able to bring out feathers on his forearm but the process was slow and he need full consent ration for it to work.

Regardless it was successful and all he needed was practice and maybe after the next set of runes he would be able to do it with considerably less effort. Being happy with his success Aion flew back to the academy and into his dorm opting to sleep inside today instead of on the tree.
