My school if anything, was pretty normal. It had a normal gymnasium, normal pools, normal library, the only thing that wasn’t normal was me~☆
You know, since I was cute and all, pretty smart too, I was quite popular. Not to brag, but on my first day here in school, I was asked out by four hot students—it was hard you know!
Unluckily for them though, my heart already belonged to someone.
As I was traversing the hallway, I was greeted by numerous people. Some of them I was familiar but most of them I couldn’t recognize.
“Good morning, Ericka-chan.”
“Yep, mornin’!”
“G-good morning, Ericka-chan!”
“Whoa! Good morning to you too!” And so, it continued until I reached my classroom. If you were as popular as me, you wouldn’t dare ignore someone even though you didn’t know them.
Just show a little bit of your bad side and people would remember that as you, so be careful!
“Ericka-chi! Good morning!”
“Sayaka~ Good morning too~” A girl came and hugged me. Her sweet perfume wafted in the air and it tickled my nose. Oh, that smelled nice.
“New perfume?” I asked.
“Yeah! How’d you know?”
“Cause I’m like, familiar with your scent, you know.”
“Hahaha! What are you a creep!?”
“So, mean!” This girl might look dumb, but she was actually the top one in our class. Her yellow hair was tied into twin tails, her wide amber eyes winced as she giggled loudly.
She wore the same black uniform as I do, though her skirt was shorter—too risky, even.
“Hey, so what’s up with this? You’re looking for a job?” She showed me her phone and there was my text on it.
“Nah, I’m just helping a friend, you know?” For some reason, I unwittingly began to twirl my hair.
“…A boy?”
“And? We’re just buddy, no deep feeling or anythin’.”
“Hmm… Or so you say… You’re not seeing anyone right now, aren’t you?” Sayaka squinted her eyes and inspected me thoroughly.
“Now that I notice it… Lately, you look so happy… Hmm…” She began to scratch her chin and grunt. “You actin’ kinda sus…”

“Just your imagination!” I immediately squished her cheeks to distract her. Damn this girl! Are you a descendant of Sherlock!?
“Hoo, what’s happening here?” Then, a male student approached us. He has a refreshing smile and to be honest, fairly handsome too. I think he’s going out with the soccer club manager. I thought.
“Takahashi-san, good morning.” The pretty boy Aki-kun said. “Good morning too, Tokigaya-san.”
“Good morning,” I uttered.
“Yeah, yeah,” Sayaka replied coldly. I didn’t know why, but Sayaka was always cold to Aki-kun. It wasn’t like Sayaka was this to everyone, in fact, she was more friendly than me.
“Takahashi-san, you’re looking for a job?” He asked with a smile.
“No, I’m just helping a friend,” I answered, ending it with a laugh.
“A boy?” Huh? He’s asking the same question as Sayaka?
“It’s me who’s looking for the job.” Out of nowhere, Sayaka chided in while brushing the edge of her finger.
“O-oh, I see.” Somehow, Aki-kun looked relieved. “In that case, I’ll let you know if I know some part-time job. See you.” With that, he left.
“Tsk, that man whore.”
“Geez, Sayaka, why are you so angry?” I said, grabbing her shoulder and starting to massage her.
“Because of you, dense idiot boy collector…!”
“What!?” That irritated me so I dug in my claws to her flesh. A mortal like her was powerless before my might.
“Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! W-wait, the teacher’s here! I gotta go!” Or so she said, but she was just escaping the justice I served her.
“Hmph!” I instinctively puffed my cheeks as I took my seat. What’s up with her? Since my seat was located at the back and Sayaka on the front, we were quite apart from each other.
“Good morning, Takahasi-san… You look mad today.” A gentle tone reached my ears. It was no other than Hanabi-kun.
He had black hair and black eyes. His facial feature was—well, normal… If you personified normality, you would get him, Hanabi-kun.
“It’s Sayaka insulting me out of nowhere, geez, that girl,” I said.
“Hahaha… You two are really close, I think.”
“You bet.” Just thinking of how long Sayaka and I have been made me grin. When I returned to my consciousness, I found Hinabi-kun blushing.
“What’s the matter?”
“N-nothing. I, I just feel a little sick.”
“Really?” I casually placed my palm on her forehead. “Hmm, yeah, you’re a bit hot.”
“Uwa!” Hanabi-kun jerked back and fall from his seat, attracting the attention of the classroom to him. Soon the room was filled with chuckles as the students glanced at him.
I hid my laughter through my hand while looking at him scratching his head in embarrassment.
I met Hanabi-kun during my late years in middle school. I remember seeing him reading alone in the library and I decided to accompany him. I guess that’s how our friendship was built.
He was a famous loner so I thought that he could use some help.
When he got up, Hanabi-kun remained silent for a moment, then he slowly opened his mouth. “Are you looking for a job, Takahashi-san?”
“Hmm? It’s for my friend.” I replied. “And yes, he is a boy.”
“O-oh?” He gave me a complicated look, then asked. “A-are you two, you know…”
“Me and him? Haha! No way!” I wish we are though… Damn his question hurts.
“Really…? Sigh… If it’s job, then I guess I can help him.” He said.
“For real!? Thank you, Hanabi-kun!” I was so excited that I unknowingly grabbed his hand.
“A-ah, e-eh? You’re welcome, I guess.”
Now that I had some backup plan for Senpai’s future, I could finally relax now.
