19th September 2099
The day finally came, Kai stood before the awe inspiring school for the Gifted and cursed, The school sprawled before him in a breathtaking display of architectural marvels. Dome-like structures punctuated the landscape, their futuristic allure accentuated by the shimmering force fields enveloping them. These force fields are supposedly strong enough to withstand attacks from the most powerful of monsters. It was impenetrable.
"Malakai Blackwell, I presume?" A fight melodious, feminine voice filled the air.
Kai turned to see a young woman with flowing blonde hair and striking green eyes, her beauty surpassing the ordinary by a large margin
"Yeah," Kai replied, meeting her gaze.
"I'm Maddison. I'll be your guide today, and, on behalf of all of us, welcome to the School of Gifts and Curses," Maddison declared, her cheerful smile infectious and her energy vibrant.
"Sure, thanks," Kai responded, appreciating her warm welcome.
"Excellent. Right this way, please," Maddison said, gesturing for Kai to follow as they went in
As Kai traversed the vibrant courtyard, his guide, Sarah, shared insights about the academy. "Impressive, isn't it?" she remarked, noting Kai's wide-eyed fascination.
"Yeah, I've never seen anything like it," Kai replied, still taking in elegant and luxurious walkways.
"This way," Sarah directed, leading him toward the living quarters. Along the way, Kai couldn't help but overhear snippets of conversations among students, the hum of excitement echoing in the air.
Sarah continued, "Our living quarters are assigned based on your performance. It's a unique system that ensures a dynamic and motivating environment."
Kai raised an eyebrow. "Performance? How do they judge that?"
"Combination of academics, combat skills, and overall contribution to the academy," Sarah explained. "Now, let me break down the different living quarters for you."
As they approached the central plaza, Sarah pointed out the distinct structures housing each rank. "First up is Luminary Haven. Reserved for the cream of the crop, the top-tier students."
Kai squinted at the grand structure. "Private rooms and all?"
Sarah nodded. "You got it. Luxurious and spacious. The epitome of comfort."
They moved on, and Sarah continued her briefing. "Ethereal Residences come next. For those ranking from 101 to 200. Still quite impressive."
Kai surveyed the surroundings
"What's after that?"
"Shadows Retreat," Sarah replied. "Balancing academics and combat. It's a mix of private and shared spaces with advanced amenities. For those in the ranks of 201 to 300."
As they walked, Kai observed students engaging in friendly sparring matches. "Seems like a lot happens here."
Sarah chuckled. "Absolutely. Combat skills are just as vital as academics. Now, onto The Arcane Towers for those with consistent performance, ranging from ranks 301 to 400."
Kai absorbed the information, pondering his potential placement. "And the last one?"
"Underdogs," Sarah answered. "For ranks 400 and lower, providing a supportive environment. Everyone starts somewhere."
"And where will I be staying?"
Kai asked
Sarah, with a confident smile, pulled up a small tablet. "You see, normally, rankings are given based on performance during the entrance exams, but from my knowledge, you were given a special invitation. So your ranking was randomly given, which was..." After a few moments on the tablet, she revealed, "Rank 250"
"Meaning you will be staying in Shadows Retreat," she concluded, offering a reassuring smile to Kai.
"I see," Kai replied with a hint of resignation.
"That old man did this on purpose, didn't he?" echoed in Kai's thoughts. He hadn't even been given the chance to fight for a higher ranking; it was already predetermined. Yet, Kai had no intention of complaining. Anything was better than nothing at this point, and he was just grateful to be here.
As they finally arrived at the front of his door, he and Maddison exchanged a quick farewell, and she was on her way. Despite the brevity of their interaction, she had left a positive impression on him.
However, there was one thing she mentioned before leaving that lingered in his mind.
Stolen novel; please report.
"Oh, and you have a roommate. Good luck."
The Shadow Retreat had shared spaces, leaving Kai with little control over the situation. The encounter with the last stranger had undoubtedly left a bad taste in his mouth.
With a deep breath, he slowly opened the door. To his surprise, the room surpassed his expectations. It boasted a simple yet beautiful decoration, furnished with basic but elegant furniture. Two large beds, spacious wooden desks on either side, massive wardrobes, and surprisingly spacious bathrooms greeted him.
"Not bad"
Kai muttered
Kai soon found his roommate. The boy had black skin and short hair and a scar on his face, he was sound asleep and snoring, really really loud. He slept without a care in the world
"You're kidding me right?. Kai said as he saw the comedic sight.
" well At least I don't have to deal with him for now"
And then he saw something that caught his eye, a dark red uniform neatly folded on the bed believed was his own
As he slipped into the uniform, he was immediately struck by the sleek texture against his skin. The material adjusted effortlessly to his form, a testament to its advanced design. The dark red hue exuded a sense of mystique, capturing the essence of the cursed . The emblem on chest gleamed subtly, the emblem of a wolf, symbolizing unity
Running his fingers over the fabric, Kai marveled at the intricate details – mesmerizing patterns that danced in response to his movements. It was as if the uniform itself held a kind of energy, resonating with the potential within each Gifted individual.
Adjusting the collar, Kai caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. The uniform accentuated his features. He couldn't help but acknowledge the transformation he was undergoing, not just externally, but internally as well.
As he marveled at his reflection, a voice casually remarked, "The other guys wear blue, by the way."
"What the hell?!" Kai's soul seemed to briefly vacate his body, and he nearly stumbled in disbelief.
Turning around, he found the once-sleeping boy now sitting on his bed with legs crossed, left hand gracefully supporting the weight of his chin.
"Yo," the boy greeted with a friendly smile.
"The name's Micheal, Micheal Balogun," he introduced himself.
"you?"
After regaining his composure, Kai replied, "Malakai Blackwell."
"Malakai, I guess you're my new roommate huh, What the heck took you so long?" Micheal inquired with a playful smirk.
"I Am not entirely sure myself "
"How long were you awake?" kai inquired.
"Long enough," Michael answered with a confident smile, dropping a subtle hint.
"You weren't asleep at all, were you?"
"Not even a little. So, what's up with the crown?"
"You obviously already know the answer to that."
"Right, oh shit, we're gonna be late for class," Michael exclaimed, hastily making his way toward Kai.
"Huh, wait, what are you doin-"
Kai anticipated a collision, but it never came. Michael simply phased through Kai as if he wasn't there at all.
"Woah."
Michael smoothly continued to his wardrobe, picked up his uniform, and Kai couldn't help but stare
How did you do that?" Kai questioned, utterly perplexed.
As Michael nonchalantly put on his uniform, he looked up at Kai with blood-red eyes and said, "You obviously already know the answer to that."
Kai smirked as he heard that
"I think I am gonna like it here,"
He thought
********
Walking through the hallways all eyes were on Malakai and Michael. Students in their red and blue uniforms exchanged curious stares and hushed whispers.
"What's with all the stares?" Kai asked.
"It's not every day you get to see the new kid with a freaking crown hovering over his head," Michael responded.
"I can't help it, it's not something I can just turn off," Kai retorted. He had tried many times to make it go away, but nothing worked. In the end, he decided to live with it.
"Why are you complaining about it to me? That's a YOU problem. Anyway, we're here,"
Michael said, gesturing toward a classroom door.
[A9]
The letter stood for the floor level, which ranged from A to E, and the number 9 referred to the classroom number.
As Kai mused over the impending entrance into his new class , but a feminine voice snapped him from his thoughts.
"Move."
Slowly turning his head, Kai was momentarily stunned, caught in a daze as he gazed at the extraordinarily beautiful girl before him.
She possessed fiery red hair and piercing yellow eyes, her well-proportioned face exuding an air of elegance and cold allure that only enhanced her charm against her pale skin.
"Sorry," Kai quickly apologized, snapping back to reality as he swiftly stepped aside. Without sparing him another glance, she regally entered the classroom.
Watching the scene unfold, Michael burst into laughter.
"Oh my God, well, I can't blame you. Alexandria has that effect on people," he chuckled, patting Kai on the back.
"Knock it off," Kai shrugged off Michael's hand. In his defense, he had never seen someone that pretty before.
To avoid a repeat, Kai immediately went inside. Glancing at the classroom, he couldn't help but notice how spotless it was.
The room was split into two descending rows, each with retractable seats.
Let's sit over here," Micheal pointed to the third row to the right, and they occupied the last two chairs in the row.
It was currently 7:45, and classes officially started at 8:00 AM. For the next 15 minutes, students did as they pleased, but the majority had their attention on two individuals.
The first was a blonde-haired individual with blue eyes and a dignified face.
"That's Damian Knight," Michael said, noticing Kai's gaze. "Descendant of the Knight family, one of the most powerful families in the world and the owners of the Blinding Light Guild.
Lots of eyes were on him, especially the girls who steal glances at him. But he barely notices due to his condescending attitude that makes everyone feel below him.
Just as Damian attracted the attention of the girls, seated behind him was an extremely beautiful girl who drew the focus of most of the boys. Siting beside Alexandria was a silver-haired girl with grey eyes.
"Who is she?" Kai asked.
Micheal the well established information broker of the group replied, "That's Rebecca Chronoa, the only daughter of Arthur Chronoa, the founder of the guild New Dawn."
if you wanted to point out one of her flaws. it's that she's exceptionally cold. Very cold. Seeing how aloof she was, Kai couldn't help but shake his head
"But hey don't you think that they are a lot of noteworthy people in our class"
Kai asked
"I realized that too" Micheal answered
"But thankfully that's the Last of them."
However they received a massive shock as at around 7:59 AM our classroom door opened and a young teenager walked in
Huh"
"No way"
"He's here too"
"woah"
several whispers could be heard which was generated because of a certain person with white hair and blue eyes.
An extremely handsome young man whose looks were on par with that of Darmian walked into our class
As Kai caught sight of this person, a deep frown etched across his face. He didn't need Michael to disclose the name; he already knew.
" What the hell is that Asshole doing here? "
Kai muttered
The young boy was Isaiah Salvatore, the number one ranked student in the entire school.
