Before his fall from grace, Sparrow King was a world renowned esports athlete. In the virtual reality game, Ascension: Virtual Arena, he was untouchable in terms of combat prowess. He was also the leader of the game’s greatest team, Highness. His teammates' skills were second only to Sparrow's.  Charismatic, good looking, and talented, Sparrow was a rising star destined for greatness. However, following a series of controversies and a falling out with his teammates, Sparrow was forced to leave the limelight and became a shut-in.  Racked with regret, guilt, and loneliness, Sparrow suffered in isolation. After 3 years of being locked in his room, he decides to take his own life. In order to make his death painless, he uses a known method that involves a VR headset. One night, he logs into a VR fantasy game while laying on the balcony railing outside his room. Positioned in a way that would send him over the edge after logging on, Sparrow is confident that the method would work.  To his horror, he remains logged into the game for several hours. He also discovers that he is unable to log out using the menu. While stuck in the game, Sparrow searches for a way to end his existence once and for all. Unbeknownst to him, harrowing trials and agony awaits.
