Wolves encounter

Nine is walking through the forest, seeing, searching for something to hunt. There he notices it, some kind of weird thing that he does not even remember. Most of the things he sees he recognizes, but this one, he is seeing it for the first time in his life and the weird plants he sees grown in the forest too. But it does not stop him from getting close and preparing to attack this enemy who looks like - a rat, but it's way bigger the size of a normal dog and has long nails that would definitely hurt if someone would be attacked by them, but they are not sharp so it would not be lethal.

He gets sneakily to bush next to the dograt, even if it’s cowardly to make a sneak attack he cannot risk him getting injured or at worst being killed. As the dograt is occupied eating the grass, it doesn’t notice that he is being targeted and that the predator is ready to attack. He jumped out of the grass swinging the sword from the top, as it happened so fast Dograt didn’t even have time to react and got hit straight in the head. He smashed Dograts skulls as it was a full and fast swing.

* Yay! I got food for today and killed an enemy!

He was overjoyed with the achievement he got today, but he knew that this was too early, too little, to celebrate already, so he composed himself, put the dograt in a basket he found at the mansion and went to find another one. As he knew that these rat looking things were an easy target, he found more through the day and killed them.

* Hu… I killed a lot of them, I think there are at least 15 of them.

He said as he was looking at the basket full of these creatures.

* I think this will do for tonight, but I do feel stronger.

He was tired as he spent a lot of time hunting them, he got a little stronger today.

He came home to the mansion with his basket full of trophies, he wanted to see how tasty they were, if he could survive here. He went to the basement, it was the only place where he felt safe to be so that the walls won't break on him. He cooked the Dograts on the fire of the forget, the fire was way hotter than any other campfire so he needed to be careful, but he was successful on a few of them.

* I really need to repair the kitchen this won’t do.

He sat down on the floor and started to eat the food.

* It’s not as bad as I thought it would be, It’s edible.

He was happy, what he did today really put him in a good mood, he survived a day in this hell and did not need to run away, hide or escape.

After he ate he was too tired to do anything and fell asleep on the floor, but like any other night he awakes by the nightmare’s of the monster.

* Fuck… The nightmare was not good enough, I fell asleep on the floor now my back kills me.

Even if it hurted him he persisted, did some stretches and was good as new. He went to the training room.

* Until I get strong enough my schedule will be to train in the morning in the training room, then go out, get food and kill creatures, maybe find something on the way. Let’s do this!

It seemed like things were finally looking out for him. It's been a few weeks since he started training, but he definitely got stronger than before, but it was not enough. He was going through the forest like always until he arrived where he has never been before, it looked like it was a cave.

* This is where those wolf’s are…

He knew immediately that this is where their habitat is, when you can smell and see the blood, half eaten corpses close to the entrance. He was hesitant to go, he knew that he got stronger, but he is not confident that he can't take on a whole pack of wolves. He sat there pounding thinking of all the tactics he can use to kill the wolves without risking it too much, until he realized that it’s not him who will be getting the wolves into a trap, but it's him who got right into their trap. He could feel it, he was surrounded, and right there another creature that he did not recognize came out of the cave, it was twice as small as him, looked like a wolf, but this one was walking on two feet like a human, had sharp teeth and nails like they were made of metal.

* Come out! I know you are there!

The creature spoke. He was astonished that he did not know how to respond. He never expected that a creature like that would talk, for a second he was frozen, but then he came out of the bushes.

* I am here.

* I can see that… Yes, yes you will be perfect.

* Perfect for what?

* For my food of course.

He did expect this kind of response, but he still got a little shocked. He held his stone sword tightly and was ready, any second the wolves on his back could attack him.

A wolf came jumping straight out of the bush, but he was ready for this, he turned while stepping back and swinging his sword. It almost missed the wolf, because he did not know where exactly the wolf was, but luckily he hit the wolf straight in the head breaking the wolf's jaw, but because of the momentum he fell on the ground. Another one came out this time it was not jumping but running straight at him, because Nine just fell on the ground. The wolf got close enough to him so he jumped straight at him, but he readied the sword trying to block the bite, he did succeed, but the claws still scratched his arm.

* Gah!

He yelled in pain, but he quickly rolled, got his footing back and swung his sword from the top, but this time the wolf escaped and didn't get hit. The wolf quickly striked back and scratched Nine’s back with his claws. He fell to his knees, but still held out on the sword which was railed in the ground. Another one came out of the bushes, now he was surrounded by wolves, one in front of him another on his back.

* Don't make this harder, human!

The human dog yelled at him as he was just sitting there enjoying the show. “Fuck… That bastard is just sitting there” In the frustration of that animal thinking that he will lose so easily and be eaten, stood up and readied his sword. “I am in a bad position now… I thought I got stronger…”. The wolf at his back did not wait for him to attack, and lunged straight at him, but he was prepared for it. Leaning back a bit, with his all might he swung his sword making a spin, it hit. It hit the wolf hard, the wolf got sent flying back, it was utterly defeated. Nine was tired, the sword did weigh a bit and he didn’t have a lot of energy left and was injured. He knew that he could win this fight if it was just these wolves, but not only is there one more wolf left, there is another creature. He knew that that creature was stronger than the wolf’s as he possessed even higher intelligence. “I can’t win this… I have to run…” he struggled thinking of a solution to how he could survive this.

* Hey! Don’t kill him too fast. I like fresh meat!

The creature said that as he was now lying on the ground. Nine grinded his teeth “Running? What the fuck am I even thinking, I will kill these dogs!”. His eyes lit up with determination, the wolf attacked by not jumping him, but going to claw him again. He jumped back to avoid it, but the wolf persisted to attack and jumped right back at him. He expected this. As soon as he got his foot on the ground striked another swing now from the side, it hit the wolf straight in the face but it was not enough to kill it or knock it down. He saw that and striked another one from the other side, the wolf was dazed for a second so he could not dodge it, and got hit again, but it was still not powerful enough to kill the wolf. The wolf now was dazed even more, it could just almost stand on his feet. Nine with his last bit of strength, lifted the sword up and swanged again.

* AAHHHH!

He shouted as he struck the wolf. It hit and cracked the wolf’s skull.

* Wow! I am truly amazed at how you could defeat them when you are so weak! Hahaha! This is very amusing, but I'm sorry to say it to you… you will die now.

The human dog said that as he was standing up from the ground.

* It really is sad, you tried so hard, but look at you now, you can barely even stand.

What the creature was saying was right, Nine stood there; barely able to hold out, he held the sword in his hands tightly, but his hands were shaking, he could barely hold the sword. His legs were almost giving up on him, the wounds on him had bled blood, he felt pain all over his body.

* This is nothing… I survived a more terrifying monster… You on the other hand are nothing…

He said that while breathing heavily every few words. This agitated the creature, his face changed from smiling to mad, and charged Nine.

* You will see how terrifying I am!

It ran at Nine, yelling at him. It ran on all four, and was much faster than the wolves. The creature charged at him with his claws, but Nine blocked it with the sword. The force of the impact was too much for Nine to handle and he was sent flying back, while the creature did not expect him to block it and lost his footing, but this gave Nine a chance to roll back up. The creature attacked Nine again, this time Nine tried to block the attack again, but the wolf slid under him while clawing Nine's leg. It was a deep cut so he lost his footing falling on all four, trying to not collapse completely.

* It was fun until it lasted.

The creature got closer to Nine, taking the sword from the ground and throwing it away. He took Nine by his neck and got right in his face.

* Hmmm… You smell really nice, I will have a feast, because of you!

The creature said that as he was sniffing him.

* So, who’s more terrifying?

* Not you…

As Nine was saying that, he stabbed the creature straight in the creature's heart with the letter knife he had. The creature was mortified.

* H-how… T-this c-an no-ot be…

As the creature was saying that he let go of Nine, stumbling back, the creature looked at his wound, seeing the blade pierced through his skin until it fell on his back. It layed there looking at the sky, vomiting blood, shaking, faltering until he lost his last breath choking on his own blood. His eyes turned grayish as his soul was leaving the body. Nine stayed on his knees.

* I-I did it…

He fell on the ground, from the exhaustion, knowing that at least for a bit he is safe.
