3 Months Later…

Avarice Empire in Western Part of Nature Continent…

“Bro. Wake up…” Carl’s whispers woke me up but it was still 3 in the morning when I glanced at my wristwatch.

It might be dark but my eyes can clearly see him. Carl is 18 years old and he’s 5’9” ft. tall. Our bloodline has signature features such as silver hair, pair of black eyes and pale skin. From the look on his face without using my Shadow Senses, I can tell that something is not right.

“Bro. Cassy’s stalker is in her room.”

I immediately withdrew my sword from my Spatial Ring that is usually used as a limited storage and walked towards her room. The door was open and I can see the royal bastard who stood beside her.

His name is Orion Frostbringer, the prince of Avarice Empire. He was roughly 6 feet tall, and he looked to be around the age of 20. His hair was blond and his eyes were blue, while his skin was porcelain. He’s wearing his usual blue royal clothing with golden shoulder pads, white cape and armored boots. Many people said that he’s handsome but I’m better-looking than that spoiled psycho. I’m sure he came all the way here just to ask her a date.

“Orion, I already rejected you so many times and now you teleported in here? The emperor will cut my big brother’s salary again if he finds out.” Cassy complained as she crossed her arms.

I stepped forward and pointed my sword at him, “You should be thankful that you’re a prince. If not, you’re already dead.”

As I expected, threatening him is useless as he smiled at me but I know what’s behind in that mask. A despicable smile that I want to erase but I’m not powerful enough.

“Good morning, brother-in-law.” He greeted me politely but I don’t trust him even a bit.

“Don’t call me bro-in-law! Get outta here!” I shooed him.

“I’m not here to anger you, Elios. I’m here to inform you about the war this coming 9 in the morning.”

          Another war?

I lowered my sword and listened to him.

“The General assigned you in the frontlines. Again.” Orion smiled as if this day will be my final breath.

“If that what he wants, then I’ll go to the frontlines,” I replied, not showing how I’m worried about myself later.

Even without using my Shadow Senses, this bastard seems to have a malicious and perfect plan in his mind. He thinks I’m foolish enough to fall from that trick but I’m in a very tight situation. We’re too unlucky to possess this power running through our veins because we will die easily from that bastard. I’ve been wondering why someone like him has gifted a divine power to eliminate our kind. Without the emperor’s presence, Orion is using this opportunity to steal Cassy.

It’s frustrating to think about his obvious plan but escaping alive is impossible because it has a divine class barrier protecting around this nation for over 6,000 years. Even if we learned Shadow Walk, it’s still useless for escaping. I don’t know much about magic but it was already written in history books. Shadows will die instantly if they forced themselves to get inside. They can’t even leave a scratch to that cheat-like barrier.

Orion sneered malevolently, “If you don’t come back after 12 hours… I’ll take care of your siblings.”

Then he disappeared in a blink of an eye while Cassy and Carl looked at me worriedly.

          “Don’t worry. I can’t die easily.” I reassured them.

“Brother…” Cassy muttered as she caressed the tip of her long braided hair.

I turned my heels as I ready myself to leave her room, “I’ll use my trump card to erase them as soon as possible and get back home. Don’t forget to use plan Zero.”

Plan Zero is a hiding plan. Carl and Cassy will hide in their hiding spot if I can’t return home on time.

“Home? Bro, this place is a prison.” Said Carl as I began walking out the door.

But a red smoke enters to my nostrils and it smells horribly. This odor is coming from Cassy and Carl which means they’re both angry with murderous intent. I can’t blame them to feel that way because we are trapped in this kingdom. A kingdom of greed which our ancestor failed to destroy.

“Brother, I can’t endure this anymore! The color and smell of his lust is disgusting!” Cassy exclaimed which made me stopped my pace and I glanced over my shoulder as my back still facing at them.

Cassy hugged herself, visibly disgusted. The smoke coming from her is green and bitter while Carl is still in his killer mood. We understood her feelings because she’s not the only one who can see and smell Orion’s lust. To all people who got sexually attracted to her is only Orion has the best record.

“If father didn’t bring us here in the first place… The emperor couldn’t use you as a weapon.” Carl said and gritted his teeth.

Hearing him like that fueled my burning rage against our father but it suddenly dissipates. Maybe my Zero Emotions activated itself again.

“You can blame him all you want but he’s already dead. Hmph! It serves him right.” Cassy said as she held Carl’s hand and dragged him out from her room but she suddenly couldn’t budge him from his spot as if he became a gigantic boulder or something very heavy.

“Oi! Just let me stay here while you’re changing your clothes! He’ll probably come back again and kidnap you if I let my guard down!” Carl said cautiously.

“Come on! Just stay outside of my room while I’m–”

          – I cut her off, “Sis, just let us guard you like we used to be.”

She stammered as her cheeks reddened, “B-But we’re not kids anymore!”

I closed my eyes and sighed in exasperation. If Cassy is a man, that bastard would’ve dated someone else.

Orion's Ice Palace, Avarice Empire

Orion’s POV

I’m inside of my room as my eyes feast the painting of my lovely Cassy. She seems happy in this image but when I came to see her, she only gave me her disgusted look.

          Am I that ugly?

I tried myself to smell and look presentable but it’s not enough for her.

Anyway, crossbow is her favorite weapon and she’s very good at it. Her accuracy and perception made a bullseye at her target which was my heart. I can still remember how she stole my heart in an instant.

It was 15 years ago, I heard the news about the four half shadows were captured by my father which was the ice emperor of this kingdom. Three males and one female monster piqued my interest and I go to the most heavily guarded prisons where they’re possibly imprisoned. Unfortunately, the royal guards don’t want to let me in because they followed my father’s order but I forced myself to use my magic to freeze them to death. I didn’t care if my father sermons me for hours as long as I can take a peek with those things.

I expected to see something hideous since shadows are the ancient monsters created by the God of Darkness but as soon as I saw a little girl with unusual long braided silver hair crying inside her cell, my heart suddenly beating faster. It feels warm and if my eyes stop staring at her teary purple eyes, I feel lonely in an instant.

She stopped sobbing and walked closer to the prison bars which were made of adamantine, the strongest metal coated with a divine aura. I tried to warn her but she seems she couldn’t understand me. Then she touched one of the metal bars and let go of it with a sudden yelp. She looked at her swelling right palm and cried as she knelt on the ground. It pained me to watch her in pain and I used my bare hands to bend the metal bars to get inside of her cell.

I gently held her wrist and blew cool air on her burned palm to ease her pain. If I didn’t know how to control my ice magic, her hand will freeze. I may know how to use healing magic or bringing the healing potions but it’s bad for the shadows. For them, they were like acid or poison so this is the only way I can do for her.

She stopped crying and her identical purple orbs are glowing as it stared at me with curiosity. In that moment, I feel the sudden surge of heat on my cheeks and I knew that I was blushing right in front of her while holding her wrist. It’s strange that a 5-year-old prince suddenly fell in love with a 3-year-old half-monster but I only guessed that the God of Love shot me right through my heart or she simply used her charm. She hugged me for less than a minute and I noticed that she fell asleep. She must be tired from crying for hours and she’s literally alone in this prison cell.

Unfortunately, my father saw me like this and he’s extremely mad but before he could do something to us, I only told him:

“If she’s gone. So am I.”

It may sound arrogant and selfish for a 5-year-old boy to utter those words but to be honest, I am his only son with insane talent. I’m the first human who can cast wordless spells without magic circles. Unfortunately, my father proposed me to let the little girl and her brothers live in this kingdom but I can only see her from afar. I want to decline but I’m not strong enough to destroy this stupid nation and take her with me. So I accepted it and wait for an opportunity to live with her somewhere far from other human nations.

Today, my father is not here for a few days while Elios will participate the war and I’m not sure if he’ll die even with the help of my power-hungry bastards. The archbishop cooperated with me earlier because he’s sick of Elios’ presence and he let me borrow some weapons to eliminate him.

Suddenly, a golden window appeared in front of my face.

System: You have been warned so many times Orion Frostbringer.

I rolled my eyes and sneered, “And so what? Are you going to report this small problem again? That god is not even worth of my praise.”

          System: > : (

          System: You… little…

“Then report it. I don’t care if he strips my title as a prince but as long as this gift remained inside me, he can’t take it away.”

          System: Sending report…

          System: 0%... 1%...

          System: ERROR

          System: Sending report failed!

System: This is truly UNACCEPTABLE! > : (

I laughed in triumph and the stupid defective system never showed up. After I calmed myself from laughter, I gazed at the image of my Cassy. I want to see her purple eyes again but I must eliminate Elios first without leaving this kingdom because the ancient barrier will deactivated without my presence. I am one of the 8 Great Pillars of the Divine Barrier and the emperor is absent today. If I leave this kingdom, the barrier will collapse and I’m sure the system will spread the news to the whole world.

Then my father will surely come back and my plan will fail. The only way to eliminate Elios is to use my so-called friends. The power-hungry bastards to be precise.

I withdrew the Voice Crystal from my spatial ring and put a little bit of mana in it.

“Hello, your highness. How can I help you?” My trusted dog answered my call.

“Bring his head to me and don’t damage it.”

          “Who’s head?”

          “You already know.”

I think he knows the answer when I heard his chuckle, “Oh I see… This will be his last war.”

I glanced at my spatial ring and laughed. If he dies later, he will be my last collection. After that, I’ll erase Cassy’s twin brother and put her inside of the prison cell before freezing the entire nation because I’m strong and prepared enough to execute this plan. Then my last target will be my father, I’ll freeze him real good and turn him into nothing. Last but not the least, I alter her memory and live happily ever after.

Southwest Part of Nature Continent…

Elios’ POV

After the archbishop used his ˹Mass Teleportation˼ spell, 13,000 troops were sent in the desert and I’m one of them. The weather might be so hot but our sleek black armor has cooling magic. The snipers and assaulters are flying in the sky while the troops on the sandy environment marched towards the enemies and the support team is always at the back of the frontlines.

I heard that the four nobles are here to support us. Those bastards hate me because I beat them up during our private combat practice.

William Kerniel is our Mass Shielder with a height of 5’11” feet. He has red hair and green eyes, while his skin had a healthy tan. William is Orion’s best friend and I don’t like the look on his face right now.

He tapped his hands on my shoulders and said, “Hey Bro! It’s been a while and you look so cool as always.”

This bastard knows how to act innocent and friendly but I smell his rage. Too bad, I can’t kill a noble even his multiple barriers have been activated. His outer barrier has a radius of 1 kilometer and that consumes a lot of mana when something tries to break in but I can break that easily with the use of my sword.

“Don’t touch me and stay in your position.” I shrugged off his hands and continued walking.

“Jeez! Don’t be so stingy, Captain.” One of his friends said but I paid no heed.

As we walk in silence, the images of my previous battles against elves playing in the recesses of my mind. They might have long life spans and good-looking but can be easily slain by the corrupted metal s which only humans can use it as an advantage during the Holy Wars against the Shadows. Every time I killed a bunch of those beautiful elves, I think they just wasted their lives.

Those memories made me wonder for what’s the main reason in this pointless war. Was it racism or political problem? Either way, I just signed up for money and survive.

A few minutes of silence, the mass explosions from the above can be seen clearly and a good thing that the barrier protected us. The Elven air forces are the riders of destructive flying beasts and spirits but ours such as Assaulters have a ˹Fly˼ skill.

Since I’m the only officer in this legion, I ordered the bombers to use their long-ranged cannons powered by magic as a counter to the enemies’ barriers and anti-air strikers. When their barriers are gone, the 100 ft. tall sand golems have been summoned and I’m thinking for the counter. Water magic is the weakness of those things and the frontlines such as myself will distract them while the mages do their job. The easiest way to eliminate those golems is to kill the Summoners, dispelling the hidden magic circles and breaking the core.

Some of the frontlines told me that those sand golems don’t have the cores inside them, our mages can’t dispel the magic circles because they’re advanced and their water magic can be easily dispelled.

          These soldiers are so incompetent!

Did the general wants to lose this war in purpose?

“Grrrrr! Die!” 10 golems spoke simultaneously as their large hands raised high and ready to strike, trying to eliminate me first.

Unlucky for them, they chose a wrong opponent.

Elven Summoner’s POV

“I-Is that him?!” One of the archers asked with a noticeable fear on their face.

Elven archers are the same as human snipers which they can see the targets at the very far distance. The person they feared with is the silver-haired man with corrupted full plate black armor, cape and long sword. The information about him is that he’s on par of the current human great pillars even without magic but his unknown magic and spirit resistance is a pain in the butt. We don’t know how to kill him yet.

Suddenly, our mass barrier has been destroyed and it’s our time to make our offensive attack. We raised our hands and starts to utter the spell simultaneously.

          “Murtsazim Artnoc Tecsedraxe te Suira!”

The green magic circles appeared on the ground and tons of sand formed giant sand golems. Then the green window appeared.

Notification

100 Level 250 Sand Golems has been summoned.

I smirked in triumph since that man is in the frontlines, we will eliminate him first as soon as possible.

Surprisingly, that man is overconfident because he charged himself alone towards our golems. Ten of them is enough to crush him so we watch them how they hardened their sandy hands into stones and ready to smash that puny human but there was an unexpected outcome. He managed to slice their hands into pieces before it could touch him and the golems slowly turned back into their original form.

“Did he just dispel our summons? I thought he doesn’t have magic.” One of our comrades commented in disbelief.

He charged at us with the platoon of human soldiers who are following behind him and we frantically chanted the spell to support our other sand golems but the sand spirits don’t want to be summoned for an unknown reason. Maybe he also managed to traumatize or injured them.

We also tried to slow them down through wind spirits to make a sandstorm while the other mages created quicksand underneath the enemies and retreat so we can report this new information to our clan leader.

“No one can run away from me!” A voice coming from the man who I assumed he’s struggling in the quicksand screamed in anger.

I’ve been wondering how he can still shouting while there’s a sandstorm. Maybe he was shielded by his comrades and using a voice amplifier spell.

As we ran away, we withdrew our teleportation scroll and activated it but it was suddenly canceled. Our mana depleted and weakened us drastically for an unknown reason. The riders of the beasts and spirits fell as if they were being sprayed with lethal poison. I tried to focus on running but my body didn’t listen to my will.

In my curiosity, I looked behind and what I just saw is unbelievable. The sandstorm and wind spirits are gone then there’s a man walked with an intense bloodlust aura.

          No.

The familiar dark aura coming from his sword made me shiver. Then the red window appeared.

Warning!

Shadow Aura has been detected!

          Shadow Aura?!

          Shadows are extinct!

          I thought in disbelief.

          System: Sending report initiate…

          System: ERROR

          System: Sending report failed!

I understood about the system’s attempt to send something crucial to our goddess because only gods can kill that monster.

When he’s a few meters away from us, I can barely see the glowing purple writings on his sword.

“His sword… It can’t be.” My voice trembled and tried to run away to no avail because I don’t want to die from that monster.

I can’t believe humans recreated that forbidden weapon. There’s no doubt that the wielder himself is Avarice. They tamed a monster. It made sense why no one came back alive in the previous wars.

“All of you should’ve run sooner.”

Those are the last words that I heard from him before darkness took my entire being.

Elios’ POV

I did it again. This is my fourth time using my trump card as a last resort. I’m just lucky to fully control its bloodlust. If I can’t, those weaklings would’ve been affected by its wave of ominous aura.

This sword is my father’s greatest creation. The ice emperor forced my father to recreate Avarice’s Shadow Long Sword. After he finished his task, the emperor erased his existence right in front of me but I don’t feel sad about his death because he deserved it. If he had listened to gramps, I and my siblings would never be trapped in that nation.

Since we lost our father, the Emperor offered me a job in which I can earn money despite my very young age. The ten-year-old me accepted his offer and I was being trained to become a soldier of the empire because I’m the only one who can wield that sword.

In my first war, the enemies laughed at me because I don’t have magic. They tried to attack me with their magic but it didn’t hurt me. They also tried to rip my soul apart but it also didn’t inflict any damage. I thought I was going to feel sick when it comes to seeing the blood and gore from my enemies but I don’t feel anything about it even I can smell their fear as if it was all natural.

After that war, the rumors about me is frustrating. They called me a monster. But for me, the real monsters are themselves. Maybe they’re just jealous because I’m handsome.

“Die!” A voice from my troops shouted and I looked behind in curiosity.

Who are they wanted to kill? I already killed–

My thoughts were cut off when my instincts told me that there’s a lethal projectile headed to my direction. I didn’t dodge it because I knew that thing won’t hurt me. When a small fireball landed at my stomach, it caused a big explosion and the smoke covered my sight.

“Hey! What are you shooting at? I already killed them for you!” I said and smiled at them but they seemed so eager to kick my ass.

The snipers tried to shoot my vital organs but they failed because I blocked their attacks from my sword. They kept firing at me and I think they wanted me to die here.

“Shoot me all you want until running out of ammo! I can block them all!” I laughed as blocking all their bullets.

          “Foolish…” A female voice spoke.

“Huh?” I looked around but I found no one near me.

“You are foolish.” The voice spoke again and this time, I noticed that the ancient symbols from the blade of my sword are glowing on its own.

My sword’s abilities will only be activated if I utter the keywords.

          “Kill them all.”

The assaulters are now above me as they pointed their rifles at my head. Then I heard them utter their prayers such as ‘Help us cleanse this man’s soul’ and ‘Kill the evil’.

“These rotten inferior life-forms must be eliminated!”

“Hmph! I knew it.” I smirked because I’m certain that the prince ordered them to kill me.

Everything becomes very slow that I managed to see the bullets and dodged them easily. Then I utter the ancient words that my father taught me.

“Sinóks sit ómsaks Elios ot ótfa ospíelaxe an uos ímanýd it uom esód iak uom íhcysp nit oréfsorp sas ... Úoiproks uot Sóeht ... sam Úoeht uotamoná uot Amonó ots.” (In the name of our nameless God… God of Darkness… I… Elios… Give me your strength to eliminate this speck of dust.)

In just a split second, the ancient symbols disappeared and the dark wave of ominous aura coming from my sword made the assaulters fell lifelessly. The radius of the wave is 1 kilometer and to those who are inside of it will die instantly. Another 10 kilometers can disable any magic spells and drain their mana. I don’t know how I knew this information but I guess the sword is the answer.

My sight is like an eye of a sniper and I can see the remaining soldiers are trying to escape. My emotions began to lose control and I laughed maniacally.

          “Run you, cowards! Wahahahaha!”

I pointed my sword at the group of insects and it shoots a small purple energy ball. It suddenly expanded when it’s closer to my target until it explodes but it didn’t burn the corpses. Then the smaller purple particles coming from the explosion also expanded and explode. It was very satisfying to witness the true power of this sword and I’m certain that they’re all dead.

“It’s not done yet.” The voice spoke and I saw the white sphere.

That’s probably a barrier from about 9.5 kilometers away from me and I don’t know how that thing can survive my attack. I guess they will surely die when it comes to close combat. Then my sword enhanced my body and I sprinted in a matter of 10 seconds.

William’s POV

Only four of us left and I can’t believe that damn Elios is so hard to kill. We are lucky that we survived that huge explosion because Orion gave us some divine items to eliminate someone like him. Suddenly, the holy barrier was torn down by a shadowy figure with its pair of glowing purple eyes. There’s no doubt that the abomination who’s holding a forbidden sword was him. If I’m a hero, this item will awaken its true power.

“Ha! I smell FEAR from you…” Elios’ voice and actions are unrecognizable which made me think that he completely lost his humanity.

The item that I wear is a Divine Golden Bracelet. I don’t think this thing can block all his attacks. Since his eyes fixated at me, I’ll be his distraction. One of my friends, Jerome will find the opportunity to shoot him with a Divine Arrow. I’m sure Elios doesn’t know about that item.

“Come at me you monster!” I provoked him and it works when he starts to slice the other layer of my barrier.

When he finally breaks it, my friend withdrew his crossbow. Since we only have one shot and if he fails, we are dead. His hands are shaking and accidentally pulled the trigger but then Elios tries to block it through his sword while he’s still facing at me.

Suddenly, I heard a metallic sound coming from him. Elios was standing right in front of me and the darkness that covered his entire body slowly dissipates.

“I-It pierced through his sword and armor! Ahahaha!” Jerome informed me with his triumphant and yet nervous smile.

“Why’s my back feels itchy? Can someone please scratch it for me?” Elios asked and his sword he’s holding dissipates as well.

This is our greatest chance to beat him to pulp but we can’t damage his head. When my mana has been fully recovered, I grinned.

“˹Strength Enhancement˼!” I chanted the spell and kicked his gut which made him sent flying. Then he landed on the bunch of corpses.

“I said scratch! Not kick!” Elios complained as he tried to stand unsuccessfully.

“Joke all you want, because you’ll die slowly from that poison.”

“Tch! Curses…” He said weakly and his face shows that he’s in tremendous pain.

“Because that poison is from the One True God!” I laughed and signaled my friends to beat him up all they want without damaging his face.

I watched them enjoying kicking his body but he’s incredibly tough even Jerome kicked his manhood.

“Why you didn’t cry like a bitch after I kicked your balls?” Jerome asked Elios in dismay but he didn’t reply.

Jerome Hedrix is our archbishop’s 7th grandson and he’s not bad at using his ˹Mass Teleportation˼ spell. He has shoulder-length brown hair, brown eyes, and tan skin. He is 6’5” footer with a bulky body build but he is a type of man who cries like a bitch after he lost his precious things.

“Bro, have you forgot about his race? He’s not human!” I explained but he disagreed.

“He’s a half breed. He should’ve some balls! I want him to feel how painful it was after he disintegrated my balls!” Jerome exclaimed as he continued kicking Elios’ manhood.

Then he withdrew his knife and I know what he’s thinking. He wants to cut off Elios’ balls but I stopped him from doing that by grabbing his arm.

“Oi! Only women can do that!”

“But this is war! He killed the remaining women soldiers and no one I can ask to perform this! Then I have to do it!”

Suddenly, the red window appeared in front of his face and Jerome gritted his teeth before he threw the knife at the nearest corpse’s forehead.

“This is bullshit, system! Why that stupid law exists?!” Jerome asked the system as he knelt, I could see his eyes on the verge of tears which I can tell that he desperately wants revenge.

I patted his shoulder and signaled the other two to enjoy their turn. Nimbus Cumulus and Skye Cumulus are 5’9” footers identical twins with strange hairstyles. Both sides of the head are shaven, leaving a strip of noticeably longer hair in the center as it stood firmly with a shape of a fan but the difference between those two is the hair color, Nimbus is pink and Skye is blue. Their eyes are brown, has pale skin and normal body build.

Nimbus withdrew a bottle with water inside of it and smiled malevolently.

“Hey Elios! Is your shadow senses still active?”

“No.” Elios replied as he slowly stood up and stepped back to distance himself from us.

Nimbus glanced at Skye and said as he pass the bottle, “Open it bruh! And let’s enjoy his reaction.”

Skye opened the bottle and Elios immediately hold his breath as if the odor of the water is very dangerous for him.

Nimbus and Skye looked at each other then said simultaneously, “Pathetic.”

“You can’t hold your breath like you used to be because you are dying.” Skye chuckled as he sat one of the corpses.

“Come on! Just inhale it already! I know you’ll love it! The smell of heaven is just right in our palm!” Nimbus said as he sat beside Skye.

I’m 10 feet away from the holy water and I can smell the incense that usually used in every churches. In fact it is the most comforting smell that I can think of. A few moments of silence, Elios might be 25 feet away from the holy water but he’s gasping for air as he clenched the armor that protects his neck and starts ripping it in vain. His eyes blackened instead of red and tears rolled down his cheeks.

“That’s what you get for making fun of our perfume! And now, with this holy water… Your senses will break permanently. Ahahahahahaha!” Nimbus laughed and watched Elios breathed through his mouth, gasping for each breath.

“Ack! There’s… nothing wrong… with your perfume… bastards!” Elios choked out as his legs gave in and he’s now kneeling on the sand.

Nimbus and Skye cackling simultaneously. They didn’t understand how shadow senses works.

“Oi! You idiots! I already explained that so many times already and you still didn’t get it! Shadows can see and smell your emotions. No matter how good your perfume is, your nasty emotions will completely mask it.”

Unfortunately, those two perfume freaks didn’t reacted to my explanation as if they didn’t hear me at all. So I only watched them how they torture Elios by using the holy water’s scent.

Two hours later, Elios began to bleed from his eyes, ears, and nose. This is our first time to see a half breed’s blood. It’s black as ink and the twins couldn’t help but feel proud of their new masterpiece.

“Ha! No matter how cool you are… You’re still a monster from the inside!” Nimbus chuckled and I glanced at my wristwatch.

Our fun time is up and I ordered Jerome to end him.

          “Jerome, cut off his head.”

Jerome nodded and turned his head to see his prey who desperately crawled away from us.

“Aww. Not tough anymore?” Jerome asked as he walked closer to Elios.

Then he raised his hand and chanted a spell, “Arutaerc erebihorp coh tse Sartsev Seriv Sireubearp, sitatinani inimod enimon nIffdi. ˹Gravity Field˼!”

Elios suddenly pressed and lying prostrate on the hot sand as if something pulled him down.

“The prince will be so happy to see your head displayed in his collections.” Jerome said as his sword raised high.

“Don’t worry. I’ll make this quick.” He added as his blade gleamed in the sun and he poised himself, ready to end Elios’ life in a single stroke but the red window appeared in front of my face.

Warning!

The western side of your barrier have been breached.

Mass Barrier’s Status: 100%

What?! That’s impossible! How did they easily passing through my barrier without breaking it?!

I internally screamed in disbelief and the golden window appeared.

System: Small intruders estimated number… 10,000.

“Wait! There are some small things passed through my barrier from the west.” I interrupted Jerome and he grunted in dismay as he lowered his sword.

“What do you mean small things?”

Nimbus and Skye stood up as they narrowed their eyes in suspicion.

Then Skye pointed at the horizon where the intruders are located and said, “Uhm… Did you see that?”

“See what?” Jerome looked behind and we are now witnessing something new.

Thousands of black birds are flying to our direction and they seemed harmless because they’re not magical.

Unfortunately, Skye began to rub his arms as if he was suddenly sent inside to Orion’s ice palace.

“Those black flying things! They’re coming this way! I can feel that death is with them!” Skye said as his face became pale.

This man can sense danger in just a first glance because he was specialized in hunting monsters. A few moments of staring at those things, we can hear their caws and some of them landed on the corpses. We can finally see those feathered creatures closely, they have a pair of purple eyes and ink-stained body. We’ve never seen this kind of bird before and probably they’re coming from the Undead Continent. Maybe the Undead Emperor sent these things to scavenge the corpses without our emperor’s consent.

“Death? They’re just birds.” Jerome chuckled.

Skye visibly terrified at these birds and said, “They’re not just birds! Just hurry up and cut off his head!”

“After I used ˹Appraisal˼, I can’t see their stats. Suspicious! These things ain’t normal.” Nimbus whispered to my ear.

Those birds simply emotionlessly stared at Elios, watching him dying.

“Jeez. What a coward.” Jerome muttered and raised his sword once more.

“Why is he so slow? This is just over dramatic! Just cut it already, grab his severed head and teleport us home!” Skye muttered as his sweat trickled from his forehead.

Suddenly, we saw a hole in front of Elios.

          No.

          It’s darkness!

Then the red window appeared in front of me.

Warning!

Shadow Aura has been detected!

No… Don’t tell me there’s another half breed! We already used the divine arrow!

I glanced at my friends and I can see the red windows in front of their face. Then we suddenly feel frightened for an unknown reason. Chill runs down my spine as I kept staring at the darkness. Then another red window appeared.

Warning!

End Boss has been detected!

Due to extreme level gap, the player may experience intense fear of death.

End Boss? Player? What is that? Extreme level gap? Four of us are already level 150! How powerful is that End Boss?!

I thought furiously because I feel humiliated of this new information. Then I watched Jerome dropped his sword as his tears rolled down his cheeks. This man is so disappointing.

“Your war strategy is ALMOST the same that I saw in the movies.” A voice of a woman said as the birds stopped cawing.

We were confused after hearing the word ‘MOVIES’ because it’s new to us. Then another red window appeared with a following strange music can be heard in our surrounding.

Boss Music has been activated during Boss Battle!

Goodluck players!

We are dumbfounded. Honestly, the music is not bad, it even made us calm. It sounds intense, virtuosic, and powerful. Driven by an aggressive strange musical instrument that I never heard of. Then there’s someone ascended from the darkness which made us utterly astonished.

It was a woman with a height of 5’7” ft. as her black hair was tied in a bun, it’s so dark which looks like the light from the sun is nothing. Her mystical, purple eyes were like a pair of glowing amethysts. Her face might be pale and emotionless but she’s still pretty. Also, her body is above average which men like us instantly aroused. There are many beautiful ladies in different nations but that woman, she’s like a goddess with strange black clothing but it strangely suits her well.

I can declare this with all honesty that if I’m not a coward, I would’ve proposed to her right on the spot. Then the golden window appeared.

          System: Analyzation completed!

System: The End Boss is a Shadow!

          System: Its status is locked.

System: Sending report to the Admin…

          System: ERROR

          System: Sending report failed.

          Shadow? A real shadow?!

I thought in disbelief and glanced at my friends as they staring at their red window. The admin is the One True God and the system is trying to send this information but it failed for an unknown reason. I thought ancient shadows are extinct but we are facing a real one right in front of us.

“But killing your comrade after the battle is not new to me.” She said as her eyes gaze down at Elios.

“Aaaahhhhh! Monster!” Skye is the first one who ran away as fast as he could.

I and the others run as well while we used the ˹Speed Enhancement˼ spell but we can’t catch up with him. The birds that are standing on the corpses and sand flew away at the last second before we hit them.

“Bro! Use your mass teleportation spell! Now!” I ordered Jerome as we run.

          “I… I can’t! I got silenced!” Jerome whined.

Silenced means you can’t cast a spell. Death is not an option but we failed to cut off Elios’ head. The teleportation scrolls are corrupted and became useless. Then the purple window appeared which made us stopped from running and stared at it in despair.

          G.O.D.: GG

G.O.D. is an acronym of God of Darkness. A God that should never exist but this purple window with strange message right in front of our face is an evidence that he’s still alive.

G.O.D.: Welp! Your gameplay is over.

-10,000,000 HP

I never expected to receive that painless damage which is 10 times the amount of my full health. I didn’t feel my body as I was sent flying. No, I definitely saw my headless body, standing side by side with my friends’ headless bodies but darkness took over my sight. Then I saw the two red words in the middle of the void before my consciousness faded.
