Chapter 23- Monster Island Part 2
I stood there frozen, not because Dean was surrounded by horrible monsters trying to take his life. No that wouldn’t be enough to shock me. The most unexpected thing was I find Dean cuddling with a dire wolf pup, settled snuggly on his chest.
“Okay. Someone better tell me what’s going on. Don’t tell me this thing was so cute that you had to use Draconic transformation to express how cute it is.” I complained.
I literally ran here so fast, as if my life depended upon it, so I can save his stupid ass in time but when I get here, I just see him cuddling an adorable little puff ball.
Dean just continued to cuddle the puppy while grinning at me.
“Well, I found him being surrounded by a pack of Hyenas. It was about to get eaten, so to scare them off. I transformed my lungs in that of a dragon and emitted a powerful roar to scare them off, before they harm this adorable little thing.”
“Figures.” I muttered. Dean always had a soft spot for cute animals, so the surprise factor didn’t last long.
“Awww. It’s very cute master.” Mia squealed from behind me.
“So cute.” She said dreamily as she reached out and snake both of her arms around me from behind while burying her head on my back.
“Umm.. Mia, the adorable puppy is over there.” I pointed out. I didn’t expect her to do that, so I jumped in surprise.
“Oh silly master. The only adorable thing here is you.” She said in a muffled voice.
“Hahaha” I laughed awkwardly. “Okay but can you stop sniffing me. It’s getting kind of weird.” I said while looking at the white mage for some help. But surprisingly he just pretended not to notice.
“Looks like you’re having some girl problems already. Look at you, on your way to becoming a man.” Snickered Dean.
“You’re not helping.” I said while gritting my teeth. Is it just my imagination or is her hold on me getting tighter and slightly more possessive.
“Mia! Mia! MIA.” I shouted in increasing volumes.
Startled she finally slackened her grip and let go.
“Master you meanie. It was just getting good.” Complained the pink girl with a pout.
“Yeah. I’m sure.” I said drily. Clearly wanting to end this awkward subject.
“Would you like to know, what I was fantasising about.” She asked in a cute teasing voice while smirking at me.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“No I do not. Anyway moving on. How are you Dean? Great, glad you’re doing well. Cute pup where did you get it? Oh right you found it…” I rambled on, trying to steer away the weird atmosphere.
Dean just laughed.
“Glad to see you again Mia.” Greeted Dean. He then look towards the white magician. “You must be a new one that Vectre summoned with his weird and confusing ability.”
“Yes I am. Sir?” replied the white magician mage while enquiring for Dean’s name.
“Dean Dragon. Just call me Dean.”
“Nice to meet you sir Dean.” Greeted the white mage respectfully.
“So what are you planning to do with that dire wolf pup?” I inquired.
Dean look at the sleeping dire wolf in his chest and lightly flick his cute nose.
“Let’s go try and find his family. If I find no one, then I’m thinking of keeping this little thing.” Said Dean fondly.
I groaned as I grabbed my head. A headache is already forming, I can tell this will be a troublesome matter and from the tone of Dean’s voice, he’s already made up his mind.
“Okay. I’ll help out.”
Dean looked shock and surprise. “Okay who are you and what you done to my best friend. A sane Vectre would normally groan and say it’s too troublesome I’m not doing it.”
“Well let’s just say I am now Insane Vectre. Come on let’s start looking for this pup’s mother and return him from his family.”
Dean got up while carrying the sleeping dire wolf. We decided on a general direction as we circle round the area hoping to find signs of Dire Wolf tracks.
A few hours has past and we finally see a paw marks trailing deeper into the island. But what we saw made us worry for the Dire Wolf’s life as dozen of monster prints could be seen accompanying it.
“She must have acted as bait to save her pup.” I surmised.
Dean simply nodded, his face looking grim while softly fondling the pup’s soft fur.
“Don’t worry little guy. Your mother will be alright.” Said Dean to the now awake Dire wolf.
The small pup simply whined in response while looking at the direction of where his mother went. He sniffed the air and let out a cry of whimper, as he struggled to get out of Dean’s arms.
