"Welcome to the Game of Edge."

When I heard that voice, an orb of white light floated down from, who knows what's up there. There's no ceiling. In fact I am in a black wide space and as I looked down. I am even not standing in a platform. I am standing in the air.

"John Wahlberg, you were chosen." The voice again said. I never responded. In my head I am thinking I am dreaming. Then a stick materialize out of thin air and beat me hard in the head.

"OW!"

"Still dreaming?" My eyes widened in confusion. "This is not a dream. This is the Domain of the Deities. And you are here physically and mentally by the power they had in their disposals."

"In your case, you are special." The orb is resonating with the voice's words. So that means that the voice came from it. And the most important thing I concluded is that this thing can read my mind. There are so many questions I have to asked...

"Yes. Your still confused about all this and questions kept popping in your head. But by going through the trials laid upon you, your answers will be answered. The only thing I can answer is to why you are here and you as being... unique."

The orb is now hovering above the ground and is now floating towards me, "Based on the data's we have acquired. You have the best potential to become a champion. An exceptional person. The deities debated on who would picked you as their champion. The others had already picked theirs but there are some who are fixated on you. And remember, the Deities can only have one champion. Like that Prince of your kingdom."

Many revelations have been bombarded my head. But clearly I have gotten the main point of the topic. "But.." I was interrupted before I can question.

"Your now thinking why its you. Its because of that bracers and blindfold you have acquired. And we have tweak a little bit to make it appear that it is yours." Okay. That's one question solve.

"So what do I do?" The stick was still above my head.

"This trial will determine the background story in the other world."

"Hm? There is another world?"

"Oh, Yes! We have different kinds of it too." By now, I thought to myself that everything I am about to encounter may seem shocking. Whew. I exhaled a breath of air, and resolved myself of whats this trial I will undertake.

"In fact your World, Edge, is the World that connects to the others. In your own perspective your world is in a oblate spheroid. But in our eyes, yours are in Cube." Then the surrounding black space blurred and distorted. Then what appeared in front of me is a very big Cube. 

The big Cube has cloudy appearance, with a green and blue color under that white cloudy appearance. "This is Edge," the orb said. Then I heard a roar coming from Edge, and a long serpent like body flew out from it.

"Ahem!" Then everything blurred and distorted again and we're back again to that black wide space.

"What was that?"

"We have talked for quite some time now. The others are waiting for the results. So time for your trial."

*Ding*

    First Trial     

The orb disappeared and a blue window appeared in front of me. I told you right that everything that I would encounter today would be shocking. Truly Shocking. I tried to grabbed the blue window but my hand just passed through. A few seconds later the window disappeared and another appeared.

These are one of the most prominent monsters in the other world. Choose one.

With a burst of light. Ten kinds of monster appeared in front of me. They have vicious appearances. One monster has some wings and a fire on its tail. One looked like to be plant but I don't even understand what it is. There is another one who looks like a big tortoise.

I have been a soldier for about a month right now. But I am still stationed inside the walls of the Kingdom. I knew that father's colleague, Carter, used his influence to station me inside, for my own well being. He doesn't want me to become like my father. But this is not why I became a soldier. I want to fight the Monsters who had killed my father. Carter said that the one who killed father is a Dragonian. A scaled being that walked in its hind legs like a human. They are ranked by its outer appearance. And the one who killed father is a winged Dragonian. Which is to say it is a ranked Monster. So let me tell you this. I did not entered the army and become a soldier just to be stationed inside the walls. I want to fight the Monster Horde who had killed father. 

My mind stared at the Monsters and I moved forward. Even this are not the ones who killed my father, they are still Monsters. I planned to fight them out. I ignored what the window is saying in front of me. Its still there even though I am moving forward. Suddenly, I got hit hard from the head.

"What are you doing?" A stick was hovering above my head. And the orb appeared right beside me. "You are to picked from them and now your thinking of beating and killing them?"

"Their Monsters!"

"Looked!" Then another burst of light enveloped the ten monsters and they shrunk. After the light dissipated what appeared are small and adorable creatures.

"Now picked which one of them."

"But, their still.."

"Picked!" Then the stick hovered down right on my eye level. I can feel that the stick is gazing at me. I don't know how or why but I can feel it.

"Okay."

I looked at the now small monsters. The one who had wings awhile ago had turned into a small lizard and its wings are now gone but still its tail is on fire. The others are also small, I think they turned back to their form from when they are still babies.

I don't know who to picked. It took longer than the orb has expected. "What would happen after I pick one?"

"The one you'll pick will help you and become your partner."

"But I can't pick... I told you I despise Monsters."

"Looked at their eyes and tell me what do you see."

I sighed, and turned my head towards the creatures. They looked so innocent. The orb then said, "This is a trial wherein you discard the racial discrimination. Monster or Human, you are still born from the same world. Pick one."

I just stood there head lowered. I then looked at the creatures faces one by one. Then I saw one who had its eyes staring right back at me. It has the appearance of a lizard but his forearms seem to be short and had strong hind legs. It stood there staring at me. It had a four small horns, two on the backside of the head, and one on each side.

It and I just kept staring at each other. I didn't even notice the other monsters fading away from the background. It move towards me.

The Creature Cranide had accepted you as its partner. You did not choose it. It chose you. With this unexpected event, your creature will be given an ability granted by the Deites. Please name your partner.

The lizard creature walked towards me with its strong hind legs. "Vur..."
