It was a strange sensation. One moment, it wasn't. And then, it was. It had no eyes to open, and no innate desire to do so either, but what it did have was a code within itself telling it to try and move.
And so it did, only to fail miserably. A light giggle came from next to it, causing it to turn it's small, cubic body towards the source of the sound.
"Haha, you're so cute. Wait a moment, let me fix this for you." The being it automatically knew was its creator spoke, but it could not understand her. Small, delicate hands picked up its body, carrying to a place unknown.
With gentle care similar to that of a mother towards her child, its creator gently took it apart, carefully measuring each piece of its body before finally reaching what it knew to be its core, a small chip with all of its codes written within.
"Uh... What did Mr. Kron say again... Ah, yes!" She exclaimed, not that it could understand. Carefully, its creator disengaged its central chip from the rest of the body, and immediately, it felt the world around it go static.
It wasn't a sensation it enjoyed. However, before long, it found the world around it come alive again, much clearer this time.
It felt more at home now, too. It wasn't a feeling, per se, but rather, it just knew that this was what it was meant to be in, not its previous body.
It 'looked' around. Everything was still so new, so strange and so foreign. Words suddenly appeared within it, and this time, it could understand them.
"How are you?" They asked. It knew they came from its creator, but it could not find her yet. After mulling over what to say for a bit, it answered.

"Strange." The newly-birthed A.I. had no idea of social customs and norms, hence, it saw no need to lie or to ask a question back to continue the conversation, instead simply waiting eagerly for its creator to grace it with more words.
After a few minutes, not that it understood what a minute was, its creator answered back. "Does everything work? Can you see me?"
This time, the A.I took much less time to answer. "I don't know. No."
After another few minutes, the A.I suddenly felt something activate, and within moments, it could see. Not 'see' as it had done before, through motion detectors, but actually see.
The pretty face of its creator leaning forward curiously appeared within its mind. The screen of the small computer the A.I now inhabited flashed a couple of times before turning on completely.
"Yay! It worked!" The young girl cheered happily, eagerly typing on the keyboard. After adding a few more lines of code, a small window appeared, showing the A.I's own lines.
"This is so much better! Can you see me now?" She typed, exclamation points and all. Her creation took much less time than before to write out an answer. 'Yes.'
She cheered silently, looking eager. "Great! Do you have a name? Can I give you one? Pretty please?" She typed quickly.
'No. Yes. Yes.' The A.I typed out, not knowing what a name was but not having the intelligence and experience necessary to ask what a name was and meant.
"Hmm...How about... Lizzy! No, that's lame... Butterfly! Noo, that's cringy... Um... Rin! Yes, I like it. Your name is Rin. Is that ok with you?" The young girl asked eagerly, her finger practically flying as she typed. She had so many plans for the newly-named Rin, she would add motion detectors to her computer, add a voice option so they could speak, and maybe, they could even hold tea parties together like she and her friends used to do years ago.
'Ok'. The A.I, now Rin, answered. Its code was constantly absorbing everything around it, from the language and manner of speech to the place they were in, trying to understand more.
"Great! We're gonna be the bestest of friends!" The young girl typed, her grin practically reaching her eyes.
Rin only answered with a 'yes'.
