Gaia's revenge
The Last Domino

The Last Domino

The signs were clear, the many gods enveloping humanities traits defeated one by one. I thought as the life signs on my final ally, perhaps our strongest asset: Death. His real name fell past my tongue and I talked after the five grueling hours. "Shit..." I closed my computer and traveled to the gravesite of where so many other gods would lie in death. Perhaps not in a true death as the God of Death told us, but absolute annihilation. No route to reincarnation from our deaths. It was as such, we die and it's over.

A tear ran down my face as the enemy I had been facing for these years decided to appear. 14 greater sins and virtues dead, 36 lesser sins and virtues in the grave as well. Life, death, water, heat, an embodiment of the music we play and another there was an embodiment of the inventions of earth. Eighty Nine of us have died in total.

I... I... The God of mischief and illusion have somehow survived. Not as a strong combatant, not as a strong ally. My strength lies low as my usefulness in combat may be comparable to a snail. "Don't fight, you'll just get in the way!" They wouldn't allow me to help, in which I enjoyed. The lack of needing to put my life on the line. Besides, we were just fighting the gods of the wilds. The ones who did not have technology, but they had strength.

A total of 105... I believe... gods existed before the war. We had killed all of the wilds by the loss of wrath except one. Gaia, the one of our planet, gained power from the death of her comrades. She stole the powers of her fallen and took up control of their godships. It is wondrous now, reimagining my time before being forced into this role. The God of humanity had united the title a hundred thousand years ago. I was in the British Isles and he required holders of the many titles he held, wishing to consolidate his rulership over the sins and virtues.

It was a time to be alive as a creature of the mystic arts. With my agreeing to become the God of Mischief, a role of which was able to be kept away from domination by a greater sin. I grew from the fires of a wisp into my body of now. The nostalgia flooded my mind as I spotted someone walking towards me: Gaia. "Fuck" I swore and drew the last card out of the deck. "I'm not going out without a fight..." a light flashed as I drew my daggers and formed the strings of light into a form of manipulation.

"Damned willow of wisps, or whatever those humans called you" A chuckle was heard in her explosive voice. "We could of been allies from the start you know... you mystic creatures have always been welcome to join me," A speech erupted from her voice yet I did not back down. "Why should I have joined you?" I fought back and weaved light around myself. Forcing an illusion of me soaking my daggers into a poison. "Power, luxury, and glory, what else does one need in life?" She responded, now with her being a mere four meters away from me. Green loks flew in the wind I presumed was created by her. A light skin was seen with a green-blue dress.

"The moment you killed patience, any type of diplomacy was out of the window. With the death of the ruler of death, I stand no chance against your power. In such, fuck yo-" A vine, a vine sprouted from her dress and pierced my heart. I couldn't survive this, but an illusion isn't my real body.

"Ento Illunum!" I shouted, blinding the area and followed up with multiple spells that dull the senses. "Du Totose Negli!" A vine flew towards me in a diagonal as I ran to keep up with the previous revealing of my location.

"Cheap bastard, Trase de Plata!" A tree, the size of a skyscraper appeared as the flashbang I created earlier faded out of existence. The one trick left is what truth had told me before her death. Fire beats plants.

"Trase de Bofir!" I shouted another spell, my power erupting from myself and returning me to the form of a wisp. Duplication soon followed as I manipulated the light to show many more of me that there actually was. Roots soon appeared and attacked all the forms of wisps around her. Yet a unified pattern of dodging forced her to attack one at a time.

I charged, the clones all followed suit and most had failed to even distract her before dying to a stray root. The timber was closer than ever though, and I reached the trunk of the tree. The tree set ablaze from my attack of high temperature. With a tiring of great degree I changed back into the human form. But she did as well. I had no strength to fight, and if I did have the strength in magic it would be nigh impossible to use well with the abundance of my spells being manual casts.

In one last act of defiance though, I stated one thing to her slightly charred body. "I demand the powers of the gods shared among all of the intelligent life-" My arms fell to the vines of Gaia. "On planet earth, with a fifty percent hold on the godly council and wishes of the fallen-" Gaia laughed and cut off my ears, my legs and started destroying my organs one at a time. "This degree shall be passed through the council and become law upon the death of the gods of humanity." My tongue was finally cut off and Gaia decided to take her time killing me. Laughing about my speech I'd assume, rearing the rest of my body apart, piece by piece until the light was unable to reach my soul.
