Chapter 1: Hos Wal

Chapter 1: Hos Wal

The crown prince Hoss Wal, woke in nothing but his birthday suit, as he approached his dark, brown mahogany wardrobe he looked over the rest of his room, filled with a mix of dark greens, mixed with vibrant aqua and teal, flowers and adornments, the kind of things you’d expect in a prince’s bedroom but with an elven elegance and twist to it. As Hoss arrived at the mirrored wardrobe, he pondered what to wear and saw a figure with a very pale complexion, almost ethereal, and his body is lean and toned. He has piercing blue eyes that resemble sapphires, and his long blonde hair flows in odd waves down his back, resting just above his buttocks. His pointed ears, a characteristic trait of elves, are barely visible beneath his hair. His facial features are breathtakingly beautiful, even by elven standards, with a rare elegance that sets him apart from others. As he pondered what to wear, he silently whispered to himself in a soft and lovely tone “What, should I wear today? Let’s think do I have anything important on today, do I need to wear my finest or my finest, oh yes father wanted me to attend court today.” Hoss surveyed his room, his gaze lingering on the array of garments laid out on his bed. With a small smile, he reached for the first piece, an extravagant, dark green tunic with emeralds inlaid into it. He slipped it on, the soft fabric draping elegantly over his lean and toned form.

Next, Hoss grabbed his matching dark green breeches, the emeralds on the tunic perfectly complementing the fabric of the trousers. He pulled them on, adjusting them just so they hugged his long, toned legs perfectly.

As he turned to the mirror, he caught sight of his reflection and couldn't help but admire his appearance. He flicked his long, oddly wavy blonde hair over the top of his newly acquired cloak, admiring the way the dark green with inlaid touches of vibrant teal brought out the sapphire blue of his eyes.

Hoss stepped into a pair of pointed leather black boots, the heels making him feel just that bit taller and more regal. Finally, with a click of his fingers, an elegant crown of dark green and vibrant teal flowers materialized around his head. It inlayed itself naturally into his hair, and the young prince couldn't help but admire himself with a pleased smile.

As the prince finished getting dressed and was about to walk out, he heard a voice source less and of unrecognised origin and yet oddly familiar say “Oh little princeling isn’t the castle life so tiresome, I know it would be for me, I think, no I know you’d enjoy an adventure into the wider world of Salaria. No need to reply yet, young princeling but if you find yourself agreeing simply say you request an audience with Kyral Valmos to your father and let the fun begin.” With that before Prince Hoss could reply he felt that whoever spoke to him had gone, and so shrugging it off he pushed open the door to his room and begun to walk down the corridor towards the throne room where he knew his father to be, the way lit by strange lights of pure magical essence encased in gems, which also illuminated well-crafted pictures of elven history, particularly that of the Lumos Elves. (A subrace of elves who believe magic is power, and show it off at any chance they get, and as such have had a bloody history with their neighbouring kingdoms and races until a truce, was made just over a hundred years ago).

After walking for about thirty minutes, Hoss finally arrived in the throne room, not your typical throne room either but one without a roof over it and filled with way too many plants of all kinds from giant man-eating plants to small berry bushes and ferns all swaying lively in the wind. Sitting upon a large throne, made of ivory coloured glass was the Emperor, Jadral, his shoulder length blonde hair combed nicely out of his stoic and yet handsome framed face, adorned with a picturesque, green and ivory coloured robe, and gem encrusted crown. Jadral looked down at his son and in a strong and booming tone spoke “At last you have arrived Hoss, this meeting is of great importance and yet you make me wait, as if nothing is going on.”

Hoss replied with a defensive tone and stance “In my defence your liege, you didn’t relay how important this was, If I had known I would have come sooner.’

With the slight hint of annoyance Jadral spoke “Oh please you stayed up all night having fun with the courtesans again, of both genders if the reports are accurate, and if I recall I did tell you it was of some importance you come at your earliest convenience the following morning.”

Hoss sighed before saying “Alright I’m sorry your grace, for the inconvenience. Shall we head on into the council chambers and get on with the so-called meeting of great importance?”

The emperor sighed heavily in an annoyed tone, before getting up and walking into a room behind the throne, Hoss followed the king and entered a room with a big round table made of similar glass to the throne except green. Sitting around the table were the members of the royal court adorned in cloaks of deep green. They turned and acknowledged both the kings and the crown princes’ entrance, after ceasing all conversation. First to speak was Terra, the commander of the armies, she stood tall with a commanding presence. Her raven black hair cascaded down her back, resting upon the top of her cloaked shoulders and covering her right eye, which gave her an air of mystery. A small scar, shaped like a claw mark, was barely visible underneath the dark locks. Her visible eye was striking, a deep violet colour that seemed to glow with intensity, almost as if it could see through the depths of one's soul. Her armour was a testament to her ranger training, made of supple leather and adorned with intricate patterns that seemed to be inspired by the forest. Her bow and quiver were strapped to her back, ready for action at a moment's notice. As Terra spoke it was with a rougher tone than expected from an elf but still soft, and clearly shaken by what she is reporting “My liege, and prince, more reports are coming of a strange echoing hissing voice, ‘saying something along the lines of Sir there’s defiantly something strange going on around the Bravo Tango, we should start up operation Gaia.’ My liege It sounded like human speak, but no human I know of has an echoey hissy voice to them.”

A strange familiar voice crept into the back of Hoss’ mind and softly said “It’s called a two-way radio; the fun will begin soon if you wish to be a part of it mention my name Hoss.”

Knowing that the voice would disappear Hoss looked towards Terra and spoke up with a confidence to his voice and tone. “It’s called a two-way radio Terra, clearly these humans are more advanced than we give them credit for.”

Everyone’s attention shifted to look at Hoss with surprised expressions not knowing how he would know such a thing, in fact Terra with a shocked tone of voice asked “And how is it you know this my dear prince? Not to question you or anything.”

Hoss thought for a moment a silence in the room as he processed what to say, before he turned his attention to his father “To answer that question I must ask who the fuck is Kyral Valmos and why is someone saying to mention his name?”

At the mention of Kyral Valmos everyone but King Jadral looked confused but the look on Jadral’s face was as stoic as ever, however his tone of voice as he begun to speak showed just how terrified he was “Kyral Valmos, a name not many have heard but that is because they normally go by their title rather name…The King of the Hells, but why they’d be trying to contact you is surprising, I mean that nicely and I fear what it means for us.”

Before anyone could ask any further questions, a portal made of a deep purple energy opened, and a figure adorned in black and purple robes stepped through more features becoming visible the closer they got to the world of Salaria features which included long curved, back black horns forming a perfect crown around shoulder length white hair. Their skin a sickly pale tone, and long claw like fingernails could be seen, however stranger yet were their pupilless deep violet eyes that seemed to glow. With a wicked smile flashing row of razor-sharp teeth, everyone in the room noticed  the figure  was male as he in spoke the tone surprisingly jolly and very familiar to Hoss “You called? Oh, how happy I am to be summoned by my champion here on this wonderful world of Salaria.” With that he giggled like a crazy person scaring everyone, but Jadral who stayed visibly calm Terra and Hoss who found it strangely comforting. Hoss was the first to speak up in a questioning and curious tone of voice he asked. “Champion? What does that even mean? And you speak like Salaria is but one of many worlds, what does that even mean? Also why is your voice so familiar and soothing to me yet terrifying to everyone else?”

Kyral begun to laugh even more causing several members of the council to cower in fear, before Kyral suddenly shifted to a more relaxed stance with a warm smile on their face and in a soft and strangely sweet tone simply said, “In all due time dear…Nephew.” With those words ushered the room fell silent once more before a loud scream of intense pain came from Hoss as he fell to the ground seemingly unconscious.

Kyral turned and walked back through the portal he came through as all the members of the council rushed to Hoss’ side to figure out what had happened, Terra was first to reach him her ranger reflexes kicking into gear, a look of pure dread forming on her face as she couldn’t feel a pulse coming from him, without even thinking she let out a scream of pure anguish at the loss of the crown prince. However, in doing so she alerted everyone to what had happened, after that Jadral knelt next to his son before looking up to Terra and with sadness and loss in his voice yelled, “There’s still time we can get him to a priest who has a resurrection spell prepared and can do a more thorough check, we have to damn it!’  Hoss was quickly rushed to the nearest temple via teleportation magic utilised by the emperor.

Meanwhile Hoss having no idea that he seemed dead to those on the council and his father, seemed to have  appeared in a strange world,  he saw strange moving vehicles that seemed to have nothing powering them and no way for energy to get to anything to move it and yet somehow they were moving at speeds beyond imagining, but stranger still was the fact that as he walked and looked over this strange land with its strange buildings no one seemed to notice his existence until a young figure maybe in his early twenties, with naturally orange shoulder length curly hair and brown eyes that draw attention due to the dark makeup around the eyes easily seen over their pale skin, they wore  a black and aqua suit that looked like it belonged in the Victorian era(Not that Hoss knew what that was) It definitely looked out of place compared to what everyone else was wearing. This figure approached Hoss seemingly unfazed by the fact he was an elf and simply smiled and said calmy and from what Hoss could tell from the heart “You seem lost, and confused I know I was when I first saw Salaria, oh right this might be a lot to take in, and we don’t have much time. Welcome to the planet known as Earth, Kyri sure loves his games doesn’t he. The figure laughs softly to themself before continuing to speak “something is coming, the humans of this world, this planet are planning something bad through a portal in the middle of the ocean that leads into your world. Trust in Kyri and we will meet again soon. Oh, and before I forget the name is Maew God.”

Barely able to take in what just happened Hoss woke up in an elven temple on a bed, and as he looks around confused wondering what just happened, he felt that his bed was made of leaves and saw handcrafted flower decorations adoring the walls. Before he felt something protruding from his head that wasn’t there a moment a go, reaching up he felt not one but two horns protruding from his head and let out a loud audible gasp. Which caused a priest in an autumn-coloured robe to come running into the room wearing a necklace bearing the paw of a beast holding a leaf that seemed to change colours, this necklace being the holy Symbol of Chydes, the God of Nature.
