Yuriksis: Mind Wizards

As one of the races associated with the Federation of Ures, the Yuriksis (Your-ik-sis)  are an odd species to understand, their name translated in the ancient tongues of Zunnis translates to “Mind Slave”.

They require no food, live far longer than any other race in the Ures fold, and possess no mouth. Their kind’s perception and intellect far outpaces most species in aptitude tests on average and their ability to store information, others had made the comparisons of their brains to a computer. Roles such as government workers, professors, historians, military officers, and personal tutors are filled by yuriksis, their long life span gives them time to become experts in their respective fields. Due to their nature, they are often alienated by other species and since the standard school curriculum isn’t suitable for them, they attend separate institutions that are more suitable for their kind. Thus interacting with races is sparse when growing up.

Imperial Era:

Their history stretches back to the horrid and oppressive Zunni Empire, it is widely accepted by xeno archaeologists they were a species called “Dintari”, their homeworld at the time was called Gittaan.

From what was gathered, their race had achieved intercontinental travel and large urban sprawls. In roughly 5000-6000 BCE the race called the “Mezulas” arrived, in 14 years they successfully conquered the Dintari and assimilated them into the Zunni Empire.

Under imperial rule life had changed for Dintari, firstly their nation-states were abolished and all language was restricted in use. Zunnies enforced a “Ratish'' vocabulary to read, secondly they would be subjected to a process called “Exaltation” in which a Dintari would undergo cruel and inhumane modifications that resulted in heightened intelligence, long life spans, and the loss of mouths. Transforming them from the Dintari to mind slaves (Yuriksis).

As an enslaved race, life in imperial rule was to serve their mezula masters. A caste

system was in place, those who were in debt, have no jobs, or cannot financially sustain themselves were made into the slave caste.

After that are the worker class who would go on to build infrastructure, repair Zunnie constructs, and perform in the arts such as theater, music, and painting. They maintained some legal rights and were given pay for their services, but were ultimately under the whims of their rulers and barely had any autonomy.

Intellects were given privileged positions as scholars, scribes, and personal tutors to their masters. They are permitted to own land as well work within government as advisories and hold local offices. Despite their prerogative, they were reminded as slaves and any in this class must wear bracers that resulted them in hunch over positions.

This was done so that the very tall yuriksis must always look up to their masters. A special class alongside the intellects was their warrior class, specially modified yuriksis whose brains were wiped clean of their previous life and gifted psionic abilities. It is unknown how substantial this claim was, as the concept feels more fantastical than real in the modern era. In spite of what was true, the warriors served as personal bodyguards and used in the field as support units, providing cover and enhanced abilities through their psionic powers.

Excerpts from Zyynetorian battle poets and scribes told tales of demonic creatures who commanded the universe through thoughts alone. For their services warriors are given land, titles, and privileges to work within the imperial military circle as officers and strategists for the lesser races within the empire.
