001 - So... this is it?
"I know, right!" I shout into the phone.
"I can't believe it either!" comes the voice from the other line, my friend of eight years, Matthew.
"I got accepted into synaptic systems" I hold the phone up to my mouth "Synaptic -mutha freakin'- systems!"
As I say this, I look over at the stylized S on my laptop, they had made practically all of the technological changes in the past ten years! And now they are accepting me! Me of all people! I had first applied over a year ago and just got the call saying that their litany of interviews was finally over, and I got accepted into the role of junior architect, meaning I would be in the same division that came out with the Z-flop chip! The first single chip to be able to preform a Zetaflop per second! I, along with the rest of the computer engineering community joked about how this one division is single-handedly propping up moors law. And I'm going to be on that team! I just simply couldn't believe it.
"Earth to Will? You there?" comes a unexpected voice from my phone.
I, realizing that I had spaced out, hurriedly respond "Sorry, spaced out, what did you say?"
"When do you start?" he repeats.
"Tomorrow," I say while leaning back in my chair
"Tomorrow? That seems way too quick."
"So does the synaptic-7, yet one is in practically every computer ever."
"Touché"
I'm barely able to go to sleep though all the excitement, but I still manage. I wake up at 7:00 AM in order to make sure I'm not late, even if my workday starts at 9:00 AM. I eat breakfast, brush my teeth, and check the mail. Making sure to be extra quiet as my flatmate Kyle has the night shift at the diner he works at. I really hope he gets a job as good as mine I mumble as I walk out to my old, beaten up ford fiesta. When I hop in the driver's seat I notice my hands shaking with excitement. Relax I tell myself, but it doesn't help. I take a second to just sit back, and relax, witch actually seems to help this time. I pull out of the driveway and make my way over to synaptic systems' 'security square' where all their employees would be vetted before entering site synaptic

I park across the street from the feat of architecture that was the security square, it being a giant skyscraper with a extremely unique design.

Image of synaptic square
I watched, marveling for a few seconds at the building before snapping out of it and trying to find a parking spot. I ended up having to go all of 4 miles to find a parking spot in the densely crowded streets of Manhattan but finally I found one. Looking down at my watch, I see a distressful sign:
8:30 AM
I quickly get out of my car, grab my bags and start jogging to the square. I was jogging across a street when I look down at my watch to see a blinking number on the screen:
9:00 AM
I had missed my first day! At synaptic systems no less. How could I have missed my first day at- my train of thought is cut off as I hear a horn and screeching as a box truck barrels towards me. I had no time to react as I felt my body get smashed apart by a 30 MPH truck.
