Chapter 2 : The Lazy Prince

Chapter 2 : The Lazy Prince

"M-My hands!?" I screamed, but the sound came out more like a series of baby noises. I couldn't form any clear words and suddenly felt the urge to cry, probably due to the unfamiliarity of my new body. I glanced around, taking in the strange surroundings. The room was lavish, with gold everywhere. The bed's frame and canopy were made of gold, and the drawers were crafted from fine wood that drew my gaze with their intricate texture.

In the background, the old man who had been carrying me quickly summoned a nanny to calm me.

"Is this what they call reincarnation?" I babbled, my face reflecting concern and curiosity. I wondered whether I had been born a prince in an empire or if I had somehow traveled between worlds. As intriguing as those thoughts were, I realized they were futile for now. I'd learn the answers soon enough. What confused me more was the absence of my mother. I could only see the back of the room and couldn't make out who was standing by the bed. Shouldn't my mother be the one holding me, rather than leaving me with a servant?

After a few minutes of hushed whispers, I heard a woman's voice from the bed. It sounded like my supposed mother. "Is he healthy?" she asked, directing her question toward the old man, who shifted his gaze in response. At least she seems concerned about my health, I thought. Despite my lack of injury, I remembered the stories of royals who had distant or neglectful parents.

The nanny holding me gently tried to make me sleep. As I looked out the window, the night sky revealed before me. Stars sparkled brightly in every direction, and the moon was perfectly round, unlike any I had seen before. As I continued to gaze at the serene night sky, my eyes grew heavy and eventually closed as I fell asleep.

As the weeks turned into months, I was finally twelve months old, finally reaching my first year in this body. Hahhh... this is so boring, I believed that atleast in this life, my infant-hood would be at the most a bit better than my first one, but it was mostly the same, if not worse. In my previous life I had to survive hunger, in this one I just stay in the bed all day without doing nothing, sleeping waking up, eating and repeat. When my nanny left the room, I climbed up from the bed and fell on the hard floor, I quickly began to cry, trying to resist I put my hand to my mouth, shutting any noise coming out of my mouth, hoping no one would hear me.

After I calmed down, the visible trails on my face indicating that I cried, finally dried. As so, I tried to stand up on my own two legs, I haven't done this before and I can't remember how I started walking in my past life either. However, it's easier than I thought?...

Standing up on my own two legs was quite not-so difficult like everyone says, do I have some type of special physique?, I quickly wondered, but my first steps were still undone. My legs were already getting tired, I could even feel the muscles contract with one another. I moved my right leg forward, following the left one. I finally took my first step!

I was quite happy with my realizations, most babies would start to walk at fifteen to sixteen months, but I managed to do it at twelve, not like I tried it before though..

Suddenly I heard some footsteps outside the fancy door, wondering who it was and if I should show them my prideful achievements, I got unbalanced and fell over, immediately crying. A maid came and opened the room's door upon hearing me, then she started to nag me.

After some years, I was finally able to go out of my room, "Outside world here I come!", I said loudly as I got up from my luxury bed. I opened the door and finally seen the sun's natural beautiful light shining through my eyes, are my eyes burning?

I walked through the hall, strangely everyone was whispering around me, I couldn't hear what they were whispering on about, but neither do I care. I started heading out to the library, "Yesterday, my maid said that someone's going to tutor me, I wonder when he will come.", I mumbled to myself.

The hall was quite splendid, on the right side of it, you had a view of the kingdom's garden through the windows, it was a natural beauty I've never seen before in the Murim world, where people constantly fought against themselves and destroyed nature itself.

So I walked, and walked, and walked, How long am I supposed to walk?, my legs were already getting tired, thankfully the library was next to me, on the left side of the hall. I quickly told a servant nearby to open its huge wooden doors, she struggled a bit, but heh, I entered the library like I was an actual, legitimate king. Worship me you peasants!, strangely instead of them kneeling down to me, they actually dared to speak rumours about me while I was in the same location as room as them. "Isn't that the lazy prince?", one maid quickly said and another one reaffirming it, "I heard he didn't even take his first steps till the age of three.", she quickly said. I was furious, how could they believe such baseless rumours about me in the first place?! Dissatisfied with the maid's behaviour, what else could I do than to make her my informant?

"Come here, lowly servant." I boldly said, looking in her eyes. It was clear that her pride was shattered, probably feeling embarrassed about a four year old ordering her, but she didn't have any choice other than to follow orders.

"Yes, your highness?" she said, after she ran quickly in front of me. I asked her if she wanted to have a job given by me, maybe that will stop her from spreading around useless rumours.
