Life isn't irrelavent. Nothing compares, money, achievements, goals, nothing.
So what is one life to another?
I felt it depended on how old one was. Which is way I saved the kid.
-You're going to be alright!-
I don't know if I'm right or not, would I have pushed an old man out of the way? Probably? I know I don't regret it.
-Heart beat is dropping fast! Prep the...-
Well I don't regret the act, just I could've been faster.
-he's going into a cardiac...-
Then I could've at least saved myself from the pain.
BEEEP.
Then all he knew was darkness.
What was that noise? Ugh. That pain surrounding me from all sides, I opened my eyes. I wish I hadn't.
Bright light streamed in burning my retinas. Wincing, I shut them, the darkness a soothing relief.
[Subject is lucid.]
Huh?
[Begin Experiment, Start Run 000001]
The sound of a drill started up, and I struggled against my bonds, I barely understood what was happening, who that voice was, and why I was about to be experimented on, but knew I had to escape.
I broke the bonds, no, I was released. I slid down the bed that was at a 110 degree angle and landed on my hands. The freezing sensation of the floor woke me up fast. I run ahead even as the sounds of the drill left me.
Darkness was all I knew the corridor large and futuristic with a few lights that I followed. I felt I was being lead somewhere with all the twists and turns but knew I knew there was little choice as the other corridors were dark. There was a light at the end of the tunnel, I spurred on hoping it was the exit. I was somehow dodging and weaving around the explosions and gunfire, though they were few as if whoever that person was just wanted to see me jump.
Basically Portal where the mc is being experimented on by a funky AI.
Every day its escape like a lab rat and my endurance built up. I heard from the voice again from time to time, making snippets of comments and random references I didn't understand, remember or had never heard before. I knew it was lurking somewhere recording everything it was doing to me, poison, lasers, guns, traps, human voices. I lost track.
But mostly the crippling loneliness during the three years, and why I was being experimented on by was a machine AI. Which was worse because there was no one to vent this hatred on.
I soon met another who I could though and we were made to fight each other. THrough our mutual hatred we came to an understanding unlike anything I had ever felt before or understood. Though somehow I we managed to communicate while trying to kill each. I would never be able to explain it myself other than telling one that we just knew each other that well, like two veteran martial artists who had fought one another they're whole lives. We could plan out every move, we knew each others weakness, though we didn't know each other. The AI knew all that and even knew that how we attacked each other was a code. We used the names of the organs we had learnt, the references of what we remembered from our old lives, and simply being able to understand each other because we could. This was used as way of hiding the message. We couldn't communicate without that now.
It went something like this:
Hey cowboy! and 'she' went for my throat, through my senses somehow I guessed. her pattern of attack and switched my long blade to parry a greeting.
Cowboy!? in fake indignation, "I'll have you know I'm a proper Kansas Blacksmith, not one of those barbarians from the west," letting her know I was good since, Clark Kent was from Kansas as was Dorthy from Wizard of Oz and those two were both good and both they're stories had men of steel who had good heart. It could've been something else but we always started off with a greeting, then a joke, then trading simplistics wits, and giving each other information of if anything new had happened and what the experiment was on that particular day, or if there was something we could use to escape. Our brains somehow processing the simplistic stories into chunks of different meaning, puzzles pieces that fit into sentences depending on the context, using boding language, context, and the fact we knew each other well enough to what the other was talking about.
I knew of course the best way for us to ever escape was for me to hide the intel and wait until the last moment I was had a few back up plans and then execute the plan.
Though I almost wavered when one day she was in a somber mood after remembering her parents and those she had left behind. I knew that only escape could cheer her up, but I managed not to tell her and came through by saying instead that she was helping me keep sane by staying here, and I appreciated it. Letting her know that she couldn't die without letting me die. And I would never initiate something like this again with anyone else, since I honestly couldn't, it just wasn't possible.
I knew of course she had wanted to die that day, and so I had decided to until the last day of the deadline she had given me because she knew she couldn't keep it up anymore and I knew it as well.
I had six days exactly. And I used every second to plan. Every milisecond. Forcing myself to exceed my limits. Ignoring my danger Sense telling me I was somewhat sleep deprived. I knew the AI knew, there wasn't anyway 'it' didn't it probably had figured out we commincated long time ago.
I knew the best place to utilize the plan was from the room we met at everyday and then using the weaponry in the walls against it though it could always turn off the power. Which is the biggest issue. I couldn't work on energy anywho. I came up with the simple plan to utilize my ability to the absolute max.
I had already used my anger and agitation to imitate and fake frustration I went with the assumption that it didn't work even if I had worked in real frustration of the fact the AI already knew everything about me because of how it had beat that into me years ago. I knew the best way thing to do was meet her and try and escape.
At one point he designated escape the AI of course had predicted everything before hand and even knew about his alchemy abilities so he tried to keep hidden it allowed him to blueprint structures of whatever his hands were in contact with, it worked even when his arm was cut off and a prosthetic replaced it, though he got his arms back with minor cybernetic enhancements.
Then she wasn't there. I knew I was being lead into a trap, it wanted to know what it was going to do. For real, even though I wanted to remain strong and I had gotten that strong, I simultaneously pretended to and didn't, to cry. It was an act and it wasn't at the same time. I took a gamble that she hadn't died and the AI was just playing me to see what I'd do and I broke down. Though I had a small part of me that hadn't been deterred and was paying attention and working at hyperspeed.

I roared in frustration and went ballistic, giving into my senses. I already knew that if I found her dead I was simply going to topple this entire thing into the canyon it was built over. Even if it cost me my life.
That's not what had happened at all.
I became an abomination from when I snapped, I hadn't realized it but I truly did snap even if part me hadn't. Energy started to fluxuate and became pseudo humunculi and used my mutated Bradley Eye which was essentially a way of showing me the path of getting me and the other person I needed out of danger.
I punched the walls in rage not caring about the damag I was recieving until I became strong enough to surpass my limits and eat the metal of this place.
Being experimented on, not in a sadistic way but at times sadistic, at others horror shows have nothing on it, I was probably biased in that fact because I was living it but even then I had never seen the things he had done here elsewhere, ever.
Becomes a PhD in Pain. I called myself him Doctor Pain as I specialized in that.
I knew exactly what my powers were and now I knew that we were truly never meant to leave as my early plans would've been truly foiled. Even if I had escaped she would've died. The piece of junk had installed numerous back up plans and some of them involved putting her in deep sleep.
WHat it was was a bluff and he was actually using his psychometry to check the history of the objects which it knew about already and also knew that powers never evolved beyond that. However unfortunately for the AI they did, he not only was able to use a chainlink which allowed him to see the psychometry of everything that touch the objected he was using it on, but even the history of the object that touched that object. Allowing him to see the manufacturing process of how the site was created allowing him an indepth field of view of the entire facility.
I managed to restart the piece of junk through the past memories of those who had initially made it, I had become smart enough to know what certain protocols did, and through it managed to reverse the process. Of course sense I couldn't trust the machine, ever, I made sure to bluff that I would destroy the all the data it had gathered and the core program if it disobeyed.
Since it was no worry because Psychometry had evolved again and I could see download and work the program around. I didn't even understand how I was able understand and manipulate such vast amounts of coding but decided it was worth thinking about at the moment, after fixing her I checked her over to make sure he didn't stick something unsavoury in there. I also mentioned I wouldn't do anything if it didn't though knowing it so well, the moment I did turn my back it self destructed, because I had programed a part of it to not only destroy the power core if the subjects were attacked but to also slowly corrupt and virus itself repeatedly until it crashed. Then using the material which could tank twenty thousand nukes, I warped the material to helped us survive the blast. We were rocketed away and crashed landed near a village of people who knew how to use some weaponry and saw the facility as their mayor of sorts as it made decisions for them.
I managed to haggle them into not killing us. This strange dimension was an alternate plane of existence where the moon had air and animals could live on it, so of course the AI experimented on them and turned them into monsters of the worst kind to test the village.
After agreeing to subjugate some of them in turn for information. Which was a relatively simple affair.
She woke up. I told her all that happened but she didn't respond. So I waited working on my other things until the shock would wear off. It did on the third day and I asked her if she had any questions, and she said she did indeed. After explaining everything in detail she fell unconscious and I couldn't help I had been in shock and started to laugh.
She woke of course and tried to kill me. I explained again until she believed me, no, accepted what I had said. It seemed it wasn't the problem that she didn't believe, she knew I wouldn't lie about something like that, she just couldn't accept and understand that we had been freed. We had lived there for thirteen years and she had since given up hope, I had too in a way, and only fought the machine out of spite, until it became hope I would defeat it someday.
Our comunications skills took a massive hit and we could barely converse with each other without trying our old method of code, so that's what we did, we practised a brutal style of sparring to talk. To ease ourselves back into the flow of normal conversation though we also complicated our original code to see how much we could progress as it wouldn't do to lose all that skill we had learnt.
Danger Sense, King Bradley, gaining powers from what he eats, alchemy, healing, psychometry, martial arts. Gains powers and an instinctive use of the danger sense, and voices of historical artifacts, hearing the life story of those who touched them. And Alchemy which he suddenly developed one day after eating breakfast, he started to wonder what he was eating.
For one chapter He runs around and finds different objects and finds three different uses of the danger sense. Letting him sense wrong answers, dangers to his life, and to others.
At least he though it was an UF until he got to the window and found himself on a desert planet. It was a different dimension entirely a sub dimension to be precise accessible only when one is on the moon.
twelve years pass by from the looks of the days she had counted...He doesn't get older surprisingly. though only a year and a half had passed by on earth
and succeeded and found himself in an underground facility with a number of others who have also been experimented on.
We found a way back to our dimension though it wasn't without some crazy adventures, many times I had thought we wouldn't make it, but we did.
The AI even though it had been experimenting on us had given us skills to rival even the deadliest of Assassins.
The best thing we could do now was return to our old lives. Which we did, and since we lived some distance apart we managed to continue to stay in touch. We had lost touch with much of the world however, at age twelve. Though somehow I had become popular. which was strange when one would become a loner due to the lack of communication skills, people just assumed I was mute, I didn't know what to do, so I simply went along with it. It might have to do with how I help everyone, regardless of if they were mean or not and took part in everything almost to the point of exhaustion. People saw it as unhealthy, I saw it as freedom.
We met again at high school though it seemed we were drifting apart so I didn't say anything. Until one day we attacked each other out of no where and went back to our old ways of comunicating and found surprising comfort in it and a relief that neither of us had forgotten it. The teachers and students watched in awe, worry, and horror. Until we clasped hands and cried.
Later it was found that we had been kidnapped together and we only knew of each other while in captivity. We just explained it was a way of greeting each other, and helping the other grow strong just to survive, and it kept us sane.
We got a dojo specifically for that fact and made sure to only spare without tech around as I didn't trust it and made sure to keep a blackout in effect and a lens flare that destroyed anything with night vision as we fought in the shadows and blindfolds. The student body reacted negatively of course though we paid it no mind and talked with out friends and kept a tight lid on our activities and anything we did with each other. It annoyed our friends but luckily they understood as they saw it a way for two survivors to properly hold onto each other as they slowly grasped the world and stood on their feet using the other for support.
Their friends also made jokes about how they were worried they swung the other way and the two mcs had an aura of deadliness.
Of course it didn't last. Lio had been looking into why they were transported away and found out about mages through interogating one and getting tutored after torturing the guy and using Psychometry and Danger Sense.
He of course taught 'her' and they become power incarnate. Her super strength was already proportional enough to lift cars now she could lift small houses/trucks. She could barely fly just by giving herself a boost, now wtih magic she could jump/run faster than trains and hover in the air for short periods using pure magic. Long fighter surpringly with her strength, she could through almost anything.
Lio on the other hand, became speed, and stamina incarnate. Moving at speeds for weeks on end that would make the fastest cars in the world green with envy for a quarter of an hour, after that he could cruise at 300-450 kmph for weeks on end. Morphing his body into different forms of animals allowed him more speed/agility/mobility. He could also fly through his use of wings. He was also a tank when he needed to be but that lasted as long for an hour after that it was as long as he had willpower. He became a short ranger, due to his speed accumulation.
He notices someone being bullied as he once used to be, and when he tries to help they switch to him and the others abandon him even the one he was trying to save. He knew they would but it still annoyed him.
There is an instant where he becomes scared of trying to help those in danger as he remembers the pain of the car hitting him and all those months after trying to recover.
He and a number of others get transported after a particular sorcerer nutjob were pulling a fate stay night Battle Royale and invoked a crazy ass spell that used the power of the leylines.
Now they're in another world but someone takes advantage of the fact and makes it seem like its a video game, just a highly realistic one. To one) mess with them, two) to get them to do what he wants, essentially a fighting force three) he's also pulling a fate stay with a number of others to get access to a lot of power.
