I Don't Have A Choice

Aarghh! A wave of frustration washed over me, but I could only express it with a silent groan. I longed to rub my eyes and scratch my buttocks, but my body refused to cooperate.

The desire was there, but I was trapped, unable to do anything about it. It was as if I had been transformed into a statue, my every muscle frozen in place.

What the..?!

My eyes flew open, my lids shooting up like two little shutters on a window. I was surprised to find myself standing, my feet planted firmly on the ground. But I had no idea where I was - the room around me was both familiar and strange.

How?! Wasn't I just asleep right now?

Wait! Hold up! I said inwardly to myself, trying to straighten my thoughts. I was in my living room and then, err the loading job site and then the light that made me fall asleep and now… here?!

[Welcome!]

A blue light suddenly flashed in my face, and a message appeared on my face. It read, "Welcome."

“What's the bullock all about?!” I wanted to move my lips and say it out loud, but no words came out of my mouth. It ended up being just a thought. I felt like I had lost control of my own body.

[Host: Fred Rogers also known as FreakyFreddy]

The blue light flashed again, and a new message appeared. The light pulsed in time with the words, and it felt like it was shining right into my eyes.

I had the strangest feeling that I was wearing some kind of high-tech headgear, like a futuristic version of augmented reality glasses. But that couldn't be right - could it?

[Welcome, FreakyFreddy to the Avengers System]

Another message flashed onto the blue light, leaving me even more confused and shocked. I felt like my brain was short-circuiting. Avengers? System? I knew about the Avengers from comic books and movies, but is this really it? I had to be dreaming. This couldn't be real.

Stolen story; please report.

“Yeeehh!” I wanted to squeal but well, haha, I can't. I could feel my emotions being manipulated, my laughter suppressed.

I tried to process the implications of all this, but it was like my brain was on overload. I could only stare, dumbfounded, at the light in front of me.

I took in my surroundings, and the truth was hard to deny. I was definitely in the Avengers' headquarters from the movies. The walls were made of sleek metal, and the air was cool and crisp. It was like I had been transported into a sci-fi film, oh yeah, I was.

Eager to move around and my hands itching to touch the metals. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't move my legs or even my hands. It was like they were bound to the floor by an invisible force.

Urgh! I felt like a prisoner in my own body, unable to control even the most basic of actions. It was a terrifying and frustrating feeling. ‘What is going on?’

Like the system was replying to my thoughts, it wrote.

[The Avengers System had been watching you for some time and finally decided to give you a chance to save humanity in the avengers world]

Resuming its usual thing, the system continued from where it last left off while I just watched at all it displayed, calmly. Actually I wasn't being a good attentive guy, no! I was being calm because I had no choice, I can't do anything of my own damnit!

[Now processing your information meant for this world]

I couldn't help but feel a bit bored as I waited for the system to finish loading. It was taking its sweet time, and I was starting to get impatient.

I shifted my weight from one leg to the other, hoping to relieve the stiffness in my muscles. But I couldn't move more than that, and I was beginning to feel a bit claustrophobic.

If my memory wouldn't fail me, this was around the time when the avengers would use the time travel Tony stark figured to go back into the past to get the five stones.

As I stood there, frozen and immobile, I couldn't help but wonder what was going on. Why was this system making me wait around like this? It was starting to feel like a waste of time, and I was getting frustrated.

Sadly, I couldn't deny that the damned system couldn't understand me. It can't feel or have emotions anyway.

[Loading Information Completed]

Ah, finally! Now what? I asked in my head.

[Name: Freaky Freddy

Occupation: Gamer

Age: 19

Single, An orphan, Worthless]

I cringed at the last word. Worthless, really? This might mean money worth of net worth but to me it sounds so personal. like what the…?!

[Choose your superpower and weapon]

The System wrote, bringing a smile to my inner mind. Well, not my face. The system now controlled it and right now, I look like a soldier on the battlefield - so serious.

‘Chill, system.’ I mused within the robotic controller.

Four elements were displayed in front of me alongside weapons attached to each elemental power.

The first one was flying and alongside flying was a gun. Prrrh! That didn't make sense to me. Like how can I be a flying superman and then hold a gun? That's the stupidest thing that could be thought of yet this ai system managed to.

Haha!

The second one was combat and alongside a robot as a weapon. Well to me, the combat thing was fair but really not needed for a fight like the avengers endgame.

And why would I want to operate a robot when one is operating me? I'm literally being controlled by a machine right. Can't move, can't touch on my own accords. I can't even laugh or frown, damnit!. So.. scratch that!

The next one was a boomerang and a laser power. What in the heavens? Is this for a comic book? I almost rolled my eyes. Oh yeah, I can't.

Lastly, the last option was… I was yet to scrutinize the images as the others when the system suddenly retrieved back its images and displayed another message.

[The host has no choice. System picked a superpower and a weapon on behalf]

Wait, what!’ Did the System just pick for me? I mean why would it do that? And what was the need asking me to choose when it'd eventually take its own choice at the end. Of course I have a choice.

[Congratulations, your superpower is flying and your weapon is the MX-4 gun]

Well, I guess I don't have a choice now.
