Chapter 9 – Is it illegal to kill zombies?

Chapter 9 – Is it illegal to kill zombies?

“How did they hack the implants!”

It was the only reasonable conclusion given that only certain people were affected and Fraya’s implant was just upgraded with several firewalls Minerva had created.

“The message boards are undulating will speculation. There are three or four, depending how you look at it, main theories.” Minerva said. “One is the group found a backdoor put in by the government or the corporation themselves.” Given that when quantum computers came out windows os was scanned and found to be riddled with backdoors, form the American government, the Chinse government, and the corporation itself, this wouldn’t surprise Fraya. “The third theory is they found vulnerability in the software of the implants. The fourth is a combination of the three.” Minerva finished.

Fraya didn’t have time to respond as she sent a three round burst into the head of woman stumbling towards her. This unfortunately drew attention to Fraya and other hacked people started for her. Looking around Fraya saw an alley. Needing a way to funnel the enemies into a smaller location and to cover her back Fraya started toward it.

Firing controlled three round bursts Fraya carved her way to the alleyway as more and more hacked people came for her. Finally reaching the alleyway Fraya was relieved to see it end in a wall. Scanning to see no one hiding behind the trash cans, Fraya jumped up on a large trach can and turning knelled down and continued firing into the crowd of zombies.

As her magazine kicked empty Fraya dropped it and let if hang form her vest. Pulling out a grenade form her top left vest pocket Fraya pulled the pin and throw it into the crowd. Fraya quickly throw another two more before the first erupted, sending bodies, and body parts into the air.

Fraya used the momentary relief to reload her assault rife and ready for the next wave. The mass of the crowd stopped Fraya form building a barricade of bodies because they pushed through the executed zombies before they could pile up.

Fraya continued to fire and reload. Men woman children it didn’t matter Fraya barely paid attention as she methodically aimed, fired, and repeated leaving a bloody abitur in her wake.

Fraya was down to her last magazine and throw her remaining grenades when, as they went off, the people seemed to come out from their zombie phase. Unlike the last time the grenades went off this time they started to scream in pain.

Fraya sagged in relief as Minerva informed her that the government found a way to counter hack the implants. As Fraya was gathering herself to wade through the bloody remains to get out of the alleyway, a swarm of police aircars descended, lights flashing a dizzy strobe light effect and a dozen spotlights lit up the alleyway. Than a booming loudspeaker told her to lay down her weapons and surrender. Snarling Fraya gave them two middle fingers. In response dozens of shots were fired form the aircars into the alleyway and the balls that hit her tazzered Fraya. After a dozen balls slammed into her, Fraya lost consciousness.

Coming to Fraya looked around to see where she was. A medical person had just jumped back with an injector in his hands showing how Fraya was jolted awake. The room she was in looked like a court room with an old guy seating behind a raised desk, an armed guard was standing off to the side in front of the desk and a few rows of chairs were behind Fraya. It looked like every generic courtroom on every show every made.

The old guy who was the judge started ranting. “You have killed over a hundred and sixty people brutally and without remorse.” He started.

“Only a hundred and sixty? Dam am getting slow.”

“You you you..” He stammered so furies he could not complete his sentence.

“Listen limp dick I was defending myself so fuck you.” Fraya shouted pissed at being in this kangaroo court.

“I’m adding another 10 years to your sentence!” Screamed the judge.

“Good and you can take that and shove it up your old wrinkly ass!”

“Another 10 years. Guard restrain this bitch!”

“That’s the only way you can have a woman! Do you handcuff your wife form leaving your old fucking ass!”

The guard came for Fraya and as he came around the table she jumped up and kneed him as hard as she could in the balls. When the guard doubled up in pain Fraya grabbed the back of his head and slammed her knee into his face, fracturing his nose and orbital ridge.

As he slumped down Fraya quickly dove down and ripped out his gun. Fraya came up and sighting the skinny medical guy who looked like he was about to pass out in fright shot him once in the head. Turning to the judge who was just standing up Fraya put three rounds into his chest for being suck a dick.

The courtroom doors slammed open and Fraya spun around, targeting the first guard she shot him and before the second could dive out of the way executed him with a single round. Chest heaving with adrenaline, Fraya could her shouts and running feet. Looking around Fraya saw through the windows aircars speeding by. As new guards rushed towards the courtroom Fraya shot a four round into the windows and running smashed through.

The courtroom was fifty stories up and Fraya found herself falling. Luck was with her as a few dozen feet below her Fraya slammed down onto the top of a box truck aircar. Wind and other aircars rushing by her Fraya knelt and tried to keep her balance.

As she steadied light lit up behind her and turning Fraya saw another police car flying behind her. Taking aim Fraya fired the remaining rounds into the driver’s window. Hitting the police officer the aircar veered into a building. Crashing through the buildings windows the aircar sled sideways and started to flip over and over before slamming into a support column where the severely damaged fusion reactor exploded taking out the support column. The top half of the building started tilting.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Fraya grinned and turned to see where the box truck aircar was heading, just in time as a skywalk was rushing towards her. Without thinking Fraya jumped and just missed her foot form clipping the guard rail. Smashing down onto the walkway Fraya tumbled over and over until she slammed into the opposite guardrail. Dizzy and her back screaming in pain, Fraya slowly got up and looked around.

A crash resounded and looking down the street she saw the building finish collapsing. It drew all the attention away from Fraya and she hurried away, wincing with each step.

“Minerva is there a weapons shop nearby?” Fraya asked hopefully.

“Fraya you have an astounding amount of luck.” Minerva replied.

“O?”

“Yes the walkway goes to the capital cities’ central mall where you can found everything for sale. Just keep walking and you will enter.”

Grinning at this good bit of news Fraya tried to walk fast but look normal. Minerva was right Fraya soon came to double sliding glass doors that lead into a massive multistory mall. Minerva helpfully showed Fraya map with dictions to the nearest weapons store.

Fraya followed it and came to a large weapons store that looked to have everything Fraya would need. Grinning in excitement Fraya almost ran into the store. Looking around Fraya saw dozens of different types of assault rifles, hand guns, knives, grenades, grenade launchers. There were also all kinds of armor form basic flank jackets, to fully powered armored suits. It was a toy store to Fraya.

The shop keeper saw her and her grin and hurried over to Fraya.

“What can I help up with Ma’am?”

Fraya’s back gave a trig of pain telling her the first thing to buy. “Do you have any pain meds or combat stims?”

The shop keeper seemed surprised about her first request but readily replied. “We have both.” Leading Fraya to shelf. “This here are strong pain meds and beside them are combat stims. There are a few different verities. These ones enhance the senses temporary, this are for fast reflexes, and these are for a boost to strength.”

Grabbing the high strength pain med Fraya injected it into her neck. Sighing in relief she asked. “Can I use all three boosters?”

Looking at her in concern her replied. “You could but you could hurt yourself and not now it.” The shop keeper warned.

Smiling as the pain medication relived Fraya back pain she grabbed the three strongest boosters for senses, reflexes, and strength and injected them into her neck too.

“Those cost a hundred each.” The shopkeeper warned.

Nodding Fraya felt her senses double, and her heart start pounding as the stims started working.

“I saw the minigun, can you show it to me?”

Again the shopkeeper seemed surprise but walked towards the minigun. “This here has six barrels and each are a gauss gun. There are high energy capacitors along each side of the barrel and a mini fusion reactor in the back to charge them.” The shopkeeper explained pointing to each item as he spoke. “As the barrels spin they are charged fully before they complete their spin. This gun can shoot 10,000 rounds a second. The bullets are solid collapsed matter less than a half inch long so the box that slides into the bottom holds half a million rounds. Still with full auto, that runs through all the ammo in less than a minute.” The shopkeeper gushed about the weapon.

“Sold! Now how about powered armor?”

The shopkeeper blinked at her lost in the details about the gun. Shaking his head to clear it he moved towards the armored section of the store. “There are several verities of powered armor, form lightweight recon armor, to heavy tank armor.” He pointed to the lineup. One end had powered armor that was barely better than a full suite of unpowered armor in terms of protection, to the other end that looked like a walking tank.

“What has the most maneuverability but also the best protection?” Fraya asked looking up and down the selection. The shopkeeper pointed to one suit three spots up from the lightest recon powered armor.

“I would say that one offers the best protection while not hampering reflexes.”

Fraya walked up to it. The police had taken her duster and vest leaving her in a simple shipsuit and armored boots. She was pissed about the duster through; she liked it and looked good in it. With time running down Fraya started donning the armor. When the shopkeeper objected Fraya had Minerva send the money to the stores account with a 20% bonus.

“Fraya I am happy to inform you that the ship has sold for 27 million.” Minerva told Fraya. Even happier Fraya quickly finished putting on the armor. Walking to the minigun Fraya picked it up.

Fraya was just in time as the enhanced sensors inside the powered armored suit detected allot of people with weapons coming her way. Walking boldly out of the shop, Fraya looked over the balcony to see over a hundred armed and armored soldiers marching her way three stories down.

Grinning from ear to ear Fraya hefted the large minigun up and opened fire. The gun was speculator, it fired so fast that is looked like a solid beam of light. Fraya did not even have to aim she just waved the beam of light at the marching soldiers and they disintegrated in a spray of blood and guts as the minigun whined loudly.

Less than a minute later the ammo was empty and the gun was spinning uselessly but the army had been devastated. Not one person remained alive.

Laughing Fraya looked on with satisfaction. Her moment was short live an aircar smashed through the malls skylights. Looking like a mix of police cruise and helicopter, the aircar had the body of a police cruiser but pylons extended out the halfway point of the fuselage and on each side in the middle had a bigger beefier minigun then the one Fraya had used to massacre the police force and at the end of the pylons were box missile launchers with four missiles in each.

Dropping her minigun Fraya took out the last thing she had bought form the shopkeeper. Arming it she threw it towards the armed aircar before slamming herself into the floor as the large miniguns opened up and thousands of rounds spat out.

Luck was with her again as the fire lasted less than a second and Fraya heard an explosion then another smaller explosion, followed by a crash that shook the building. Jumping up Fraya looked over the destroyed balcony guard rail and saw the aircar smashed head first into the ground below.

The grenade she had used was one with a powerful magnet on one side. After arming it and throwing it the metal in the aircar would pull the magnetic towards it and stick. The first explosion would send a spike of dense metal through the armored side of the vehicle it was attached to and then the second less powerful explosion would send an explosive round inside of the vehicle. The one two combo could disable armored assault vehicles, the lightly armored police cruiser was no match.

Seeing the wreckage burning Fraya took off at a run and was just outside anther site of doors and on another skywalk as the fusion reactor gave out and a massive explosion gutted the inside of the mall. Flames roaring behind her Fraya took off at a jog as the skywalk trembled. Coming to an auto taxi Fraya jumped inside and ordered it to leave.

“Minerva is there a ship for sale that is made for one person and half the size of the Empire’s craft?”

Minerva took a moment to answer. “Yes there is on that fits the description for 10 million dollars.”

“Good buy it! Where is it located?” Fraya needed to get off this rock and fast.

“It is at the starport.”

Fraya sighed. She needed to get through the guards. “Any thoughts on how to sneak in?”

“On the net it says if you go to a certain ship delivery service company and pay a stiff fee they can smuggle anyone in.”

Fraya laughed in relief at such a simple way to get inside the starport. “Thanks Minerva!” Ordering the taxi to change directions Fraya gave the location of the delivery company.
