Chapter 2.2 New School Year

Chapter 2.2 New School Year

Gil walked to the Reyfield house after getting the notification that Austin was up and the Adjudicator was heading there to conclude the investigation. On the way he thought about everything that happened.

**Flash back**

As Gil rushed back into the city, Larados. His friend met him shortly after he crossed the city limits. "Hughe take this Soul Cleansing Orchid back to HQ. Give me anything you have on you that heals. The man wordlessly took the Soul Cleansing Orchid planted in the Avalanche Turtle shell and handed Gil a small bag while they were both rushing down the streets. He then turned and went a different direction.

Gil kicked open the door to the Amazingly Useful plant store. Colette Reyfield jumped as Gil burst in. "Colette, get anything you have to help Austin, he's hurt. Where is his room?"

"Upstairs, on the right" Gil went upstairs and kicked open 2 doors before he found Austin's room. He put Austin down on the bed and opened the bag that held the healing items. Gil put a Rejuvenation Stone on Austin's forehead. It pulsed from a light to a bright red sending a red wave down the child's body in rhythm to his heart beat. Slow at first, but it grew more steady as time passed, but the stone got duller with each pulse.

As the stone pulsed away, Gil took out a knife and cut off Austin's shirt and pants, leaving him in his underwear. A tiny fox-like creature fell out of the cut clothing as Gil was pulling it off. It weakly curled up against Austin. Gil noticed the healing pulse go from Austin into the creature then back into Austin.

Gil opened Austin's mouth and poured in a viscous Vitality Honey. This wasn't a direct bodily healing substance, but was a way to quickly restore the body's spent energy, so it could start to recover on its own. He wiped the rim of the vial to get the last bit out and pushed it into the tiny creature's mouth.

Colette came in and set up several of the plants she was cultivating, a Wash Fern to clean things, a Calm Chime Vine to take the edge off everyone’s spiked emotions, and the most expensive plant that she had in the shop, a Purple Spotted Recovery Aloe. The Purple Spotted Recovery Aloe would be able to slowly heal injuries after spreading the plant gel on it. She wasn’t sure how Austin was hurt, or if the plant would be useful, but should would do anything that she could to help. Gil placed six needles in Austin. A Spirit Silver needle in his head. A Core Garnet needle in his chest. Two Thunder Drake Conducting Bone needles in his hands. Two Entin Hearts Wood needles in his feet. He then crushed a Class 3 Energy Crystal to power the Vital Monitoring Needle Set.

Energy connected the six needles in a net above Austin's body. The silver spirit needle glowed the brightest, Gil knew that the needle would need to be replaced but he didn't know why the spirit energy inside Austin was so strange.

With Colette's help and the vital monitoring needle sets guidance the two are able to stabilize Austin's condition and now just had to wait for him to recover.

Austin's dad, Matthew Reyfield came back in a rage and started yelling at Gill."How could you let this happen to my son. You're going to pay for this." Gil grabbed the man by the throat and slammed him against the wall."You're trying to blame me for what happened to Austin. I didn't want to bring the kid out in the first place. This is all because of your scheming." Gil's face was less than an inch away from Matt's.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

Colette shouted "Gill stop this now or will have to get an Adjudicator to settle this."

"You know that sounds like exactly what I should do. " Gil released his grip on Matt. As the man fell to the ground gasping for breath Gill straightened out his coat and stalked out of the house.

**Present**

Gil got to the Amazingly Useful plant store and waited for a while, until a carriage pulled by a Bark Armored Rhino arrived. Two uniformed men stepped out. They wore dark overcoats with metal buttons and an Adjudicator badge on their chest. One was a young man with straight light brown hair. Cut short. The other was a tall, thin middle-aged man with salt and pepper. Hair cut down to the scalp. Both men walk straight into the shop. Gil followed him behind them.

Colette and Matt were waiting inside the shop. As all three individuals entered. As the shop door closed the young Adjudicator spoke to the room. "Good morning. I am Adjudicator Belfry. I will be conducting the investigation pertaining to contractual disagreement between Mr. Gilbert Woodley and the shop owners of the Amazingly Useful Plant Store, the proprietors being Mathew and Colette Reyfield. This investigation will be witnessed by Adjudicator Silversmith. Mr. And Mrs. Reyfield please direct us to the witness."

Colette and Matt showed everybody upstairs to Austin's room. They knock softly and open the door. Austin was lying on the bed alone in his room. "Good morning Austin. I am Adjudicator Belfry. I will be asking you questions that are directly related to an active investigation. I expect you to answer everything truthfully." Belfry held his hand out and a small Emotion Gecko appeared and crawled from his palm up to his shoulder. It was yellow with purple spots and the whole thing fit in his palm before it moved off of it.

" Now Austin, how did you come to help Mr. Woodley? "

" My dad told me I had to help Mr. Woodley." replied Austin. The Emotion Gecko stared at Austin and had no reaction. Adjudicator Belfry nodded and continued his questioning.

" What were you to do to help Mr. Woodley?"

" I was supposed to help him find and harvest plants."

" And how was this decided?"

" Mr. Woodley asked me what I thought I could do to be useful. And that's what I told him"

" Do you feel Mr. Woodley unnecessarily put you in danger?"

" No, Mr. Woodley always worried about my safety first."

" Do you have any examples of how he put your safety first?"

" When we saw wild monsters, Mr. Woodley directed his Kindred to carry me away from them. Leaving himself behind. His Kindred did not stop until I was safe."

" Is this where you are injured?"

" No, that was after."

" So how did Mr. Woodley worry about your safety when you are injured?"

" We were on our way home when I found something that would be valuable for him. He did not want to go after it but I insisted. He had his Kindred search the whole area for a long time to make sure it was safe. It was safe. There were no wild monsters. One only appeared as we were about to leave."

" What else do you remember?"

" The next thing I remember was waking up in my bed at home." Belfry looked at his Emotion Gecko who did not react to anything Austin said. Belfry looked over to Silversmith who nodded. "With the statements from both parties and the witness now gathered this investigation is coming to a conclusion. Under the authority of our Governor, Sir. Roderick Bartholomew Rosenthal, 5th of his name and title, I judge in favor of the accuser Mr. Gilbert Woodley. The accused will compensate for double all contractual items and incidentals accrued."

Silversmith held out his arm and a majestic bird with sleek feathers that shimmed in the sunlight appeared. It had piercing eyes that were a deep shade of blue, and its wingspan filled most of the room they were standing in. This was Adjudicator Silversmith's Auramark Hawkus. It's screeched out loud using its skill Mark Prey . Colette and Matt were outlined in a soft red glow with a mark of the adjudicators floating above their heads.

"You have been cursed with a visual indicator of your crime until such time that you have paid your debts." commented Silversmith. The two Adjudicators then turned and left. Gil left right behind them.

Colette turned to Matt and said" well, what are we going to do now?"
