10. What I Gained

“Ugh… morning? Or is it night? No, probably morning, right?”

I slipped out of the luxurious, fluffy feather comforter and headed to the living room.

I turned on the kettle to heat some water, then went to the washroom, where there was a sink so wide you could probably fit ten people side by side.

I turned on the tap, washed my face, and dried off with a soft towel. I grabbed a toothbrush—I wasn’t sure what it was made of—and added some toothpaste-like substance to it before brushing my teeth.

Then I took care of business in a restroom that was probably as big as a six-tatami mats in size (3x3m), washed my hands, and went back to the living room.

The water was ready, so I poured it over some tea leaves in a luxurious cup and settled deeply onto the sofa.

“Ahh, smells great. I can’t really tell good tea from bad, but this is a comfortable morning—or night? Either way, it feels pretty luxurious.”

This sofa is amazing. I bet I could sleep here like it was a bed. It’d be perfect if I had a TV and internet too… although, those would probably ruin the atmosphere here.

Wait… wasn’t I in a dungeon? Was it all just a dream? Did I really go through that life-and-death struggle with the dragon? If only it were all just a dream…

But unfortunately, everything that happened yesterday was very real.

And I’m still in the treasure room on the final floor of the dungeon.

Although technically, I’m not in the treasure room itself but inside a tent that’s set up here.

After I defeated Vritra and realized I was stuck in the treasure room with no way out, I decided to rest. I rummaged through my regular and supreme-grade magic bags, hoping to find some camping gear—surely, anyone who’d made it this far would have some.

And sure enough, I found a bunch of large, strange boxes after wishing for the best possible tent.

When I appraised them, they were labeled “Magic Tent.”

So, assuming they were magical items, I channeled some mana into the magic circle on top of one of the boxes.

With a quick whoosh, the tent unfolded into a space large enough for five people to sleep in.

I was so hyped, my fatigue vanished. I appraised and opened the other tents, finding one made of golden fabric and another of silver. I chose the biggest one, which looked like it could fit ten people, and stepped inside to check out the space.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

And inside—get this—it was like a king’s room.

You probably think I’m making no sense, but inside this tent was a fully furnished house. It’s like the space was expanded somehow, making it way larger inside than it looks from the outside.

The first thing I saw when I stepped inside was a sprawling 60m2 living room, fully furnished with luxurious decorations, sofas, chairs, and tables.

There were ten other rooms—some 30m2, others 10m2 all with beds, bedding, and even a wardrobe of clothes for who knows whom.

The designs looked medieval, but the underwear was all brand new, and fir some reason, they all are rubber boxers.

Then, in the spacious kitchen, there was a massive refrigerator filled with wine and food.

It was giving off a chill, so I figured it had some kind of stasis or preservation magic.

There was even an electric kitchen—probably a magical tool—where water flowed just by channeling a bit of mana into the faucet.

The bathroom was even more impressive, with a bathtub big enough for 50 people and a dragon statue that poured a constant stream of hot water when I infused it with mana.

This must be a royal tent. There was also a smaller bath, probably meant for servants.

Or perhaps this was made by someone who had travelled from modern world to another world.

Needless to say, I was thrilled. I hurried outside to pack up the other tents, set up a full barrier, and went back inside to explore.

Putting the tents away was as easy as channeling mana into the magic circle at the entrance. Super convenient.

Then I stripped down and soaked in the massive bath. There were multiple dragon heads, so the water filled up quickly, even in the spacious tub.

There was even something that seemed like soap, making it a perfect bath.

After soaking away my fatigue, I grabbed a cold bottle of wine from the fridge, and it was paradise.

I went to one of the bedrooms, where the bed and bedding were spotlessly clean, like they were brand new, and slept soundly.

And that brings us to now.

I’m in awe of this world’s technology—it might even surpass modern Earth.

The water seems to come from a water-attributed magic stone, yet there’s no sign it’ll ever run dry.

I can’t see anywhere to replace the stone either.

Could it be some sort of perpetual motion machine?

I sank into the plush sofa, completely taken in by this ultra-luxurious, high-tech tent.

“Ahh… If only I had internet and maybe a cute girl here, I’d never want to leave. I don’t feel like walk through the dungeon anymore.”

Still… as nice as this is, there’s something I have to do. I need to avenge everyone.

Fighting off the urge to slip into NEET mode, I remembered their faces and steeled myself.

“Alright, let’s get moving… First up, I need to loot the corpses back in the boss room. Some of them had pretty decent equipment. Maybe they were elites or even hero-class explorers.”

You see, there were a lot of skeletons scattered around the boss room, not just along the wall I hugged as I entered. I think there mist be over a hundred skeletons there.

The dungeon’s cleanup slimes had dealt with their bodies, but their magic items remained. My main goal is to find skill books inside any magic bags.

Skills are incredibly powerful. In a battle between two people of the same rank, the one with Body Enhancement II or above will win every time.

No amount of archery practice will match someone with Body Enhancement, Hawk Eye (A skill that massively boost eyeshigt) and Night Vision.

Though I haven’t seen any swordsmanship skills that let you send energy waves, there are skills that temporarily boost your strength, which can make a huge difference when combined with Body Enhancement.

To begin with, monsters are far too strong. Many of them seem to have natural body-enhancing skills. There are also a lot of Fire Lizards that can spit fire from their mouth, and it’s foolish to fight them without skills.

Apparently, skills start showing up in treasure chests on the middle floors of beginner dungeons.

Beginner dungeons are around 20 floors deep, so skill books likely start appearing as rewards around the tenth-floor boss.

In Chiba, where I come from, the goblin boss with a red cap known as the Redcap Goblin would be in that spot. Beating him brings out the orc boss next.

So today, I’m going to collect the belongings of the fallen heroes in the boss room, carrying on their will to return to the surface.

And so, I walked around the massive boss room, bowing to the skeletons and gathering their belongings.

I ended up with a mountain of stuff. I moved all the magic pouches and bags to a corner of the room, praying that they were food, and unloaded everything.

My hands were filthy, but I endured.

I channeled mana into my Purification Necklace to remove the dirt from my hands and gear. This accessory is a dungeon essential.

I sorted out the potions too, most of which had deteriorated, so I poured them out, saving just the bottles and corks for future reuse.

There are over a thousand, so I’ll have to work through them gradually.

Finally, I returned to the tent and began checking my loot.

With my increased mana, I could appraise without limits.

I also had mana-restoring magic stones, so I’ll be able to appraise continuously and increase my skill proficiency.

Now, let’s see what skill books we’ve got. There’s also a ring I’ve never seen before, along with some other magical items.

Let the appraisal begin.
