Puerto Rico is part of the Arkansas class, a fictional class of mass produced battleships by the United States. This class sports an incredible number of anti air artillery systems paired with the best RADAR and fire control permitted by the Minkau Limit.

While lighter armed for a battleship, the Arkansas class has been very successful in aiding battlegroups in their anti air warfare efforts, as it features a full suite of fire controls for all of its 5in rapidfires and 40mm guns. Even the 20mm guns have lead computers tied into likely one of the largest naval computers of any ship afloat. Being the ship class testing the new 20mm Gatling defense guns also helps.

In fact, there was one incident where during a night action, the Arkansas herself was reported as being aflame, when in reality that was all of her anti air complement firing at once.

Arkansas Class Anti Aircraft Heavy Escort:

44,500 tonne displacement, functionally a battleship, however it is unable to serve completely in the battle line (though it has the armour to withstand some battleship grade fire.)

Main Battery of two Three-Gun 8in autoloading mounts. These are mounted in hardened turrets, and have 10rpm each, or 30rpm in a rolling salvo.

Secondary Battery of 28x 5in cannon. These are linked to a main fire control computer and are intended to form the main area anti air warfare system, with terrifying effects on whatever it's pointed at.

Tertiary Battery of 32x 40mm belt fed mountings, pentuple watercooled. These are also linked to the fire control computers, and have all the anti air warfare goodies the author doesn't know about packed in with the benefit of postwar hindsight.

On the Puerto Rico, Alaska, and Guam, 10x 20mm Gatling guns mounted in single turrets replacing some of the 40mm guns and augmented with IR scopes grant some level of close in weapons firepower against bombs, as well as the ability to vaporize any Abyssal aircraft, even the Banshee suicide missile. These are spread around the ship, with four amidships on either side, and then spaced out bow and aft. While currently in testing, these guns are noted as being highly effective in the current environment. Analysis is ongoing as to their employment and doctrinal use.

SHORAD is formed by 20mm guns mounted in pairs and quads with their own gunsight systems.

Fun fact: the Arkansas class per minute puts roughly 1.5 tons of metal out into the sky at maximum fire rate, including 20mm, 40mm, 5in, and the 12ga shotgun someone's firing over the bow.
