Was I ever wrong. He didn't listen to a word I said. Oh sorry, this dates back to the time I was younger. Some of you might be confused as to why I wrote this. Things started long ago. This story started when I was 13 years old. Well this is just me talking. Don't judge me. This really isn't my fault. Everything changed then. I'll tell you my story why I lay in this church crying and screaming at the man I once loved. Let's just say I was young, naive and dense enough to believe him.
It all began in that dark stormy night, I sat on the edge of my queen sized bed. The rain was pouring outside. My mother was sick since as far as I could remember, father was always busy with politics. My family is a duke and duchess of Zambarin. The country we live on is ruled by the mad king Trez. Literally his name is spelled like that I'm not wrong. I remember it correctly, my mother is the royal Phoenix from a branch family and she had arranged marriage to my father. The duke of this small human kingdom. My mother would always tell me stories of her adventures, her friends and the outside world which I have never gone outside to.
But she's been ill for the longest I can remember even me as a baby she was ill. My mother said she only got ill as soon as she came here though. I once asked her if she loved my father she just gave me a bitter smile and said that my so called father wasn't really my birth father. It shocked me because he treated me so well with love. Mother won't say about who my real father is. She gave me a musical box saying it will lead me home.
Anyway she laid on the bed coughing. My family was gathered near her velvet bed. The grey tapestry near here seemed to pale in comparison due to the thunderstorm outside. As if the heavens were mourning a loss of a daughter. My purple haired father held my mother's hands crying. She just gave him a sad look then grabbed my hand towards his.
Sadness engulfed me as she breathed her last breath with a smile. She didn't say much on her death bed. Over the 13 years she had taught me much. Mother never felt lonely just sad and caged here. Father stared at me for a while, I knew he loved mother. I just stared at his long green hair, yes father reminds me of the elves in picture books with blond long hair.
As if hesitating he wanted to say something but turned away from me. He called the servant to go get someone he wanted to introduce to me. The lighting in the fireplace dimmed this room. It was this very same day I met him. My adopted brother. Father brought a blond haired boy to my view. This person didn't say anything he just glared back at me. I couldn't help but be captivated by his green colored eyes and his pale skin that didn't seem to be sunburnt.
My hand was twirling in my long sky blue hair. I inherited this beautiful hair color from my mother. Though it was a pity for mother who died, she lost her sight at the end of her illness. The human doctor deduced it was a inherited disease but when I remembered what mother said 'We Phoenixes have no inherited disease through lineage. This is actually poison, I've been poisoned since I first arrived here.' Those clear words rung in my ears.
I stared unblinking at the handsome blond 17 year old boy. He only clicked his tongue annoyed at me. The me then didn't know this would start his road to take everything from me. It all started from the moment my mother had stepped into the house. Seeing him I was too lovestruck at his sight.
"Cecilia, this is your adopted brother Ernest. He'll inherit my title as Duke and inherit the dukedom. This is a decision I've made long ago. He's the one to inherit my will. Saying so I want you to go to school starting tomorrow. The servants will arrange things for you and you don't need to attend your mother's funeral." (Duke Edge)
Ernest gave a disgusted look at me. Which I thought was just my imagination. I couldn't be right, this is just me overthinking things. How can a handsome 17 year old show such hatred towards a little girl like me. I don't know how but the servants led me to room somehow.

Mother why didn't you tell me anything about your family. Why is father so cold to me after your death. Tell me why he is sending me away?
Her words were left unsaid. Many of her feelings which she bottled up was inside hidden until now. She didn't understand her mother's warnings to her until her father acted so coldly after her mother's death.
"Cecilia remember my words well, do not show your emotions to those living inside this mansion. Trust no one but yourself. No trust none in this kingdom. If you can flee from here to the floating city that is my home." (Diana)
Those words made me unsure how to act in front of the maids and butlers. Father was the only one I showed emotions to. But why is it that now I feel like the only safety I have left is gone. I fell asleep in tears after losing my mother. I woke up to the loud voices and realized I was in pain from one of the maid hitting me to wake me up. They never did this before to me, why did they do so now. Usually they'd gently shake me awake not hit me until I wake up. (Ernest ordered it and our dense mc is still love struck in the beginning so she doesn't get it.)
They stuffed a few of my clothes into the luggage and tossed me along with my suit case into the carriage not caring that they just tossed the duke's daughter into the carriage in a rough way. I would tell father but not after those cold eyes gave me such a disapproving look. I'm sure it was after he saw my reaction to seeing Ernest. But those dreamy green eyes made me stare at them for so long.
On the road it was awkward silence, what with the tyrant king and the dark gloominess of the citizens under him and even the nobles on edge of the paranoid king. We haven't lived a day without being afraid the king might execute us. The carriage stopped making me confusedm
Surprise hit me when I saw the door opening and the coachman with a knife in hand and pointed at me.
"I was hired to kill you." (Coachman)
I literally froze there confused he pulled me outside to the road. But my eyes widen when I see all these rough men standing outside my carriage while laughing as if they been sitting in wait for me for a long time. These were bandits waiting on the road and why the hell is the coachman in on the plan. What the heck went wrong with my normal daily life. (It got screwed over the moment her mother stepped into the mansion of the Duke.)
3rd person POV
"She never listens to us though we're so close by her." (Clover)
"Like can she even see us elemental spirits. Her mother asked us to do a favor by protecting her daughter. Yet this damned little half royal girl doesn't even see us spirits." (Riley)
"Oh come on! Riley your a damn thunder spirit. And Clover your a earth spirit." (North)
"Shut up you old man." (Clover)
"Wait Clo. Weren't you the one that discovered the stupid boy was poisoning the mistress." (Riley)
"Yes I did. He was since she arrived. The only good news was that the little mistress didn't get caught up in it. She is dense though for falling for the enemy at first sight." (Clover)
Her green linen dress fluttered in the wind as she stared at Riley who was wearing a yellow robe. North the fire element was wearing a red dragon robe, but the three sat on top of the carriage watching their little mistress. Riley muttered how she needed to suffer a bit to grow up. Clover nodded she remembered missus words that if nothing's wrong with the little mistress the longest she's not dead then they only help if she's in a life threatening situation. She felt no such killing intent from these bandits. The three of them were just minor elemental spirits.
"Oh fuck it this is why I hate the human societies with countries and kingdoms. Our lady just had to be cast down by her mother to this lower world. And to marry a damned human that uses her like tissues." (North)
He could feel lust radiating from the humans that were coming out of the trees on the side of the road. But he had to agree the little miss is 13 and knew nothing of the world she had to suffer a little to understand that this was the cruel reality, her mother can't always save her.
The bandits had held her down to the floor, she struggled and was threatened with a knife next to her throat she cried silently as she knew help wasn't coming.
"Seems the bastard doesn't want her dead yet." (Riley)
(Sorry this story has to main characters. Two twins so it might be confusing. It's mainly on the older twin and goes back to the younger twin cause their story makes one whole. As I said before I apologize for the story that might be confusing for you. Next chapter is Frost's POV)
