Chapter 26: Prelude to chaos 6

Previously on Flaming Light… Kiiara arrives in time to defeat Alsalasil and save her sister Serena alongside their friend, Dia. However, after the battle, Darius Black, current king of Darkville unexpectedly shows up with a menacing aura.

Intro: “This is a tale of humans, beasts, and beings from other worlds. A tale of sacrifice, chaos and hope. A tale of a girl who wants to surpass the strongest but at what cost? No, this is their tale. A tale of Flaming Light.”

Currently:

Kiiara, Serena and Dia continue staring at Darius and are wondering what his motives are for being there at that time.

Serena speaks up and asks, “What business do you have with my sister?”

Darius, with his black filled eyes having white iris surrounded by a purple glow, directs his intense gaze at Serena, takes a moment to reply and says, “Interesting, Serena Falcon, twin sister of the embodiment of destruction, it would be fascinating to have you in this conversation as well. Very well, I will entertain you as well.”

He turns his gaze to Dia with no change in facial expression and then looks back at Kiiara.

“Alright, let’s get this started,” he says and snaps his finger.

Immediately, dark clouds surround himself and the girls. Serena notices and is quick to react. She swiftly puts up her guard while trying to forcibly activate her light awakening state again. However, Darius calmly utters the word, “Sleep.” Instantly Serena’s activation of light awakening shuts down and she falls to her knees, as does Dia although Kiiara is still standing. The ladies become unable to move any part of their body.

Kiiara gasps in fear knowing that they do not stand a chance if they were to suddenly fight Darius. “This… is a freaking king!” she says to herself.

“I have absolutely no chance of winning with my current skills or power but maybe if I can activate that mode again, I can at least get my sister and Dia to safety.” Kiiara tries to activate the flaming mode she used in defeating Alsalasil however, Darius stares at her and smiles. Kiiara notices her body is unable to move and that she cannot reach the universe that is within her to activate her technique.

Darius tucks his hands into his pockets, takes a few steps towards Kiiara and says, “I told you let’s have a chat right?" Kiiara frowns and replies, “What business do I have with a King? If you are trying to use me to get to my father amidst all the confusion, you will not succeed!”

Darius lets out a menacing chuckle and declares, “Surely I have some business with Phoenix but that is for another day. Maybe my actions today will even expedite that business. Nonetheless, little one, I have come to ascertain if I should actually kill you or not.”

Kiiara is shaken up and responds, “Huh? What did you just say, old man?”

“Old man? Have you lost your sense of respect, brat?” Darius replies. He continues, “I said, I have come to decide if I should end your life. But before I do that, I would like to find out your response on some things I am pondering on. And who knows, depending on your answer, maybe I will spare you for now.”

Serena is fuming but she is unable to move her body at all so her expression remains unchanged. Darius turns to her and says, “I guess you must be fuming, hearing this about your twin sister.”

He turns back to Kiiara and continues, “Why is your death of importance, you may ask? Simple! It’s because you are the living embodiment of destruction and a universal catastrophic disaster just waiting to happen. I’m sure by now you know that you possess a power which to the best of my knowledge, is capable of obliterating any and everything. I noticed this from your display at the tournament and if not for Phoenix, you would have rendered your sister and everyone on the battlefield non-existent. Your grandmother Sarah had this ability however so did one of your ancestors, Ainx Falcon and the world will never forget the tragedy he brought to existence itself,” Darius says to Kiiara.

Kiiara replies, “But what does that have to do with me? Don’t we say innocent until proven guilty? It’s just my power and I can still control it at the moment. It’s not like I chose or asked to be born with these powers anyway. It’s just who I am!”

Darius sighs and responds, “Yes child, it is not your fault but it is what it is. You said you are able to control it but what happens when you can no longer control it and become a disaster like Ainx? Who will take responsibility? Will it be you, your father, mother or will your sister do it? On the rare occurrence that your parents are no longer in this world, then who will do it?”

Kiiara is speechless. Darius turns to Serena and says, “Will you do it? Will you kill your twin sister in the event that she goes berserk with the power of destruction? Will you be strong enough to make that sacrifice?”

Serena becomes able to speak but still incapable of moving other parts of her body neither can she activate her elemental abilities. She finds it difficult to give an immediate answer to Darius's question as she is terrified at the thought of ever having to kill her sister. She lets out a sigh and answers, “It won’t come to that because Kiiara would never lose control and put innocent lives in harm's way.”

Darius stares at Serena for a brief moment and lets out a sigh. “What a disappointing answer,” he says. “You are still young and naive. I guess I expected something more,” he adds and turns back to Kiiara.

“Now to continue, tell me Kiiara Falcon, daughter of the invincible Phoenix and Diana of the seven lances, what exactly is your goal in life? What drives you everyday to do the things that you do?” Darius asks.

Kiiara, with her dazzling blue eyes fixing her gaze with a furious glare on Darius, replies, “First you want to kill me and now you are so interested in me?”

Darius smirks and responds, “Just answer the damn question little brat.” Kiiara lets out an angry sigh and replies, “Well, if you must know, my goal is to be the strongest and stand at the top of the powerful beings in the universe, as simple as that!”

Darius sighs again and replies, “Yet another disappointing answer. A very generic goal that has no sought of substantial measure or timeframe. What is your definition of strongest? Do you really understand what it means to be the strongest? Do you have any idea how many powerful beings exist or the extent of their abilities?” He further examines, “For what reason do you strive to attain that level of power and how far are you willing to go to obtain such? They say power intoxicates and should that happen to you, who would stop you, the living embodiment of absolute destruction?”

Kiiara intensifies her glare at Darius and insists, “My father usually says ‘only the strong can protect’ so in order to protect those that I love and cherish, I have to be the strongest obviously not at the expense of innocent ones. Power may intoxicate but there are also very powerful beings that have not been corrupted by it and my parents are excellent examples.”

Kiiara sighs again and adds, “King Darius, regardless of what you think, I will not be an embodiment of destruction. I will turn out to be a light of hope and strength protecting my loved ones. Power is but a tool and it is the wielder that determines what purpose it will serve!”

Darius lifts his hands out of his pockets and claps while laughing. “Fascinating! You are quite the confident one, Kiiara Falcon. You really think you can fully control your power? You really have no idea how vastly devastating your ability truly is. Are you aware of the sadness and sorrow that the complications surrounding just your birth caused for your mother?!”

Kiiara is shocked and screams, “What do you mean?!” Serena is also startled by the question from Darius.

Darius wears a mischievous smile and says, “Oh I see, you were not informed.”

“Poor child,” he utters, slowly stretching his hand to reach for Kiiara’s jaw. Serena struggles within her to try and move to save her sister.

Suddenly, a mighty spear shrouded in lightning pierces through the dark clouds from the top and heads towards Darius. Darius detects the spear, withdraws his hands and swiftly jumps back to evade it. The spear collides with the ground where Darius was previously standing, creating a mighty resounding explosion and a small but very deep crater of about three thousand feet (3000ft).

The feeling of joy and relief can be seen in Kiiara’s eyes, leaving her in awe, as she sees the backside of her mother, Queen Diana Falcon, instantly appear in front of her.

“Mum!” Kiiara mutters, wearing a smile of relief on her face as tears run down her cheeks from her eyes.

Diana tilts her head to take a glance at the state of her daughters, Kiiara and Serena. She then stretches her right hand out, the spear earlier aimed at Darius quickly returns to her hand and she directs her eyes, full of rage, to the current King of Darkville, Darius Black.

As the dust settles, Darius looks at his right hand, clenches his teeth and lets out a hissing sound. “As expected of Diana, her spear was fast enough to graze my hand,” he reflects. Irritated by the assault, Darius yells to one of the people he came with, signalling him to attack. “Ban!” He yells.

Ban calmly responds, “Got it.” Ban has black eyes and spiky black hair. His hair is long and has shoulder-length bangs framing the sides of his face. He is dressed in a dark burgundy full suit attire with a grey muffler hanging around his neck and a pair of black gloves covering his hands. He takes a step forward and gets ready to launch an attack at Diana. He chants, “Dark Spear: Eras—.”

But before he can complete his statement, he is interrupted by a strong but calm male voice. “It would not be wise to start a war due to such a silly action.”

Darius is perplexed by the sudden appearance of the figure he sees standing next to Diana. “Stop!” He motions to Ban. Ban halts his attack and steps back.

“What a pain,” Darius murmurs. “I could have handled Diana but taking on this guy is another ball game entirely,” he adds. Darius sighs and says, “What a shame, it seems I will be taking my leave.”

“I never expected to run into you here, Alexander Kidd Kensora or should I say, White Blade,” Darius says to the mysterious figure.

Alexander, folding his arms and standing close to Diana, chuckles and replies, “Still scheming your devious schemes, eh Darius? That was a dangerous attack Ban was about to unleash.”

Diana, still facing Darius, acknowledges Alexander, “Nice to have you here, old friend. I see you are as fast as ever. I barely noticed when you popped up beside me.”

“The pleasure is mine, Diana. It took some time to get here as we were busy dealing with some high ranking demonkind along the way. Scupto will take Kiiara, Serena and Dia somewhere safe as he and I have been doing for the students we have met on our way here. I had a feeling someone would try to pull a fast one,” Alexander replies.

Diana, still focused on Darius, comments, “I see. Still as chivalrous as ever. You are a citizen of the Central Plains after all.”

“Anyway, Darius,” she says, raises her spear and points it at Darius. “You better have a good explanation why an all-out war between Lightville and Darkville should not start right now,” she adds. She starts unleashing a huge amount of pressure while emitting sparks of lighting around her.

Scupto is behind Alexander and Diana. “Even in your anger, you’re still so beautiful Queen Diana,” Scupto comments. “However, this pressure is quite crushing and the girls may not survive it if they stay here any longer,” he adds. Alexander looks over his shoulder and instructs Scupto to get Kiiara, Serena and Dia to safety. Scupto puts Dia on one of his shoulders, lifts Serena with one hand and places his other hand on Kiiara’s shoulder. “Off we go,” he announces and at once, vanishes.

Darius raises his two hands, smirks and asserts, “We were just having a chat Diana, however, you of all people know the truth that your daughter Kiiara is definitely a danger to society, if not now then surely in the future. I simply wanted to measure her intention and let her know the pain she has already caused you.”

“You bastard! You had no right!” Diana yells.

“But I do have some rights,” Darius informs Diana. “Being a king, I am merely looking out for my people and even the world at large. Besides, the World Leaders’ Alliance stands to address such issues like this. I wonder what the other leaders would say when they find out your daughter wields the power of destruction and that both you and Phoenix hid this.”

“Bullshit!” Alexander retorts. “She is not on the alliance’s radar until she becomes a world or universal threat and as far as I know, she has done nothing to be registered as such,” he adds. “The truth is that you are scared Darius. You fear that Kiiara has the potential to become a formidable force that will threaten not the world, but whatever evil schemes you may have planned or are planning. So, you intended to end her amidst the confusion of the sudden demonkind invasion and the return of Neutro, the dark emperor,” he states.

Diana, furious at Darius, lets out a warning, “If you cannot deny or defend yourself against such allegations, Darius, then I will not hesitate to plunge my spears into your heart.” She says this while still releasing lightning sparks around her and pointing her spear at Darius.

“Easy now people,” Darius calmly responds. “Be careful not to accuse a King so quickly. You do not want to start a war between nations over mere allegations. How about we call it a day and forget that this event ever happened?” He suggests.

“Heed my warning Darius,” Diana replies. “If you ever lay a hand on any of my daughters, I will bring down the wrath of the heavens upon you and your army. You know very much what not just I, but the Lightville military force is capable of doing,” she sternly warns Darius.

Darius puts on a mischievous smirk and states, “How cute. Till we meet again, bye for now.” He says this and fades away alongside Ban and the other individual that was with him.

Diana clenches her teeth, lets out a hissing sound and stomps the heel of her spear into the ground. “Damn it!” She mutters, staring into the ground. The enormous pressure drops and all the lightning encompassing her, dissipates.

Alexander stares at her for a brief moment, lets out a sigh of relief and says, “Glad you have calmed down. You could have started a war right there, you know. It’s alright now, your daughters are safe, Diana.” Diana turns to him, smiles and replies, “Thank you for coming, Alexander. It’s been a while.”

Suddenly, the ground rumbles violently and an ear-piercing boom spreads across the entire Glory Academy.
