“ZIRKUS HUXFORD, wake up!”
Ouch!
Zirkus felt it when someone slapped him hard on the cheek. When he opened his eyes, he was surprised to see a teary-eyed Klaus Irvin. “Did you just slap me?”
He realized that he was using the dragon’s lap as a pillow.
[This kid probably caught me before I hit the ground.]
“I thought you were dead!” Klaus Irvin said, sobbing. “You look uglier than normal after you fainted.”
Wow, thanks.
To be honest, he couldn’t really hear the dragon clearly.
[It must be the effect of Yelena’s scream earlier.]
Zirkus was just reading Klaus Irvin’s lips. It was a ‘talent’ that he developed when he was stalking celebrities as Park Suho. He had to read the celebrities’ lips to gain juicy gossip.
[I’m not proud of it, but I can’t deny the ‘talent’ I developed from it…]
“How long was I unconscious?”
“Under a minute, I guess?”
Huh?
He thought he fainted for a long time, and yet it had only been a minute since then.
[The fight isn’t over yet.]
After all, he could hear painful groans left and right.
“Are you okay, Klaus Irvin?” Zirkus asked worriedly while looking at the kid’s neck. It had red marks around it. But other than that, the dragon seemed alright. “Thank god Yelena Noonim didn’t do any serious injury.”
“Yelena almost got me when she strangled me with her water ability,” Klaus Irvin said while wiping the tears off his face with his hands. “But, thankfully, she woke up before she dealt the final blow.”
“I’m glad you weren’t hit by Yelena’s, uh, scream.”
“As you can see during the fight, I’m good at blocking. Fortunately, I managed to create a barrier to block the sound,” Klaus Irvin said, then he let out a sigh. “Why do you keep on worrying about me when you’re the one injured here? You’re frustrating, Zirkus Huxford. Even though I was rude to you all this time, you still think of me as a precious friend.”
Fucking hell.
Zirkus almost died of cringe, and it was even more embarrassing because Klaus Irvin looked so sincere and moved by their “friendship.”
[I’m starting to regret using the power of friendship concept here.]
He forgot that kids this age could be too emotional and idealistic.
“Wait,” Zirkus said, getting up. “Let me check the others first.”
The first thing she saw was Yelena fighting the red-haired leader of the enemies who ambushed them.
Surprisingly, his Noonim was using a shovel against the opponent’s sword.
[Why are they suddenly using weapons?]
“I don’t know how Yelena did it, but she nullified the Mana around when she screamed earlier,” Klaus Irvin explained. “She also couldn’t use her own Mana, so she’s fighting with Aura.”
Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.
But the Mermaid Princess was better at using her Mana than her Aura.
Hence, Yelena was getting pushed back by her opponent who was clearly at least a Sword Expert.
[That’s the reason she left the academy in the original novel.]
Fortunately, the minions of the red-haired villain were knocked down by Yelena’s scream earlier.
[That only leaves the red-haired dude and the troll then.]
“Go and help Yelena Noonim,” Zirkus said to Klaus Irvin while standing up. “I’ll help Enzo.”
He put his Red Metal Sunglasses on.
[I need to record all of this for evidence of the ambush later.]
He blinked thrice to activate all the functions of the Red Metal Sunglasses.
<“The
Wow.
Zirkus' view suddenly turned into a video-recording device with a visible frame right in front of him.
“Alright. I’ll assist Yelena,” Klaus Irvin said. “Stay here and be safe, Zirkus.”
Hmm?
Klaus Irvin addressed him by his first name alone as if they were close.
[Does he really think we’re friends now? But why? Was he moved by my cheesy lines about friendship earlier?!]
Argh.
The world of shounen was indeed full of cringe-y kids.
Anyway, Zirkus just focused on Enzo’s fight.
As expected, the future Disaster was still using his Aura-covered shovel to fight the troll. It seemed like Enzo had already broke the troll’s kneecaps as the monster was already kneeling on the sand.
But why was Enzo still hitting the troll instead of finishing it?
[Does he not know how?]
“Enzo, burn the troll with your Aura!” Zirkus yelled. “Turn your Aura into a flame!”
That was Enzo’s special move in the original novel.
To be honest, Zirkus wondered if he made a mistake.
But soon, he didn’t have the time to worry about that since Enzo’s Aura– the one covering the shovel– had turned into a blue flame.
[Yep, that’s it!]
When Enzo swung the shovel as if it was a sword, a boomerang-shaped blue flame came out of it and hit the troll in the face.
The blue flame grew bigger quickly, causing the monster to scream in agony.
Zirkus had to cover his already bleeding ears this time.
[Maybe I shouldn’t have activated the recording audio of my sunglasses…]
Fortunately, the monster’s agonizing cries quickly disappeared as its entire body burned to ashes in just a few seconds.
That was how powerful Enzo’s Aura Flame was.
“You,” Enzo said, marching towards him angrily. “How did you know about the technique I’ve been developing in secret?”
Ah, so it was supposed to be a secret for now.
“I’ll tell you later,” Zirkus said, then he turned in Yelena and Klaus Irvin’s direction. “Let me finish recording first…”
Oh.
He trailed off when he saw Klaus Irvin’s dragon hand pierce through the red-haired villain’s chest while Yelena created a water barrier to protect herself from the blood that the enemy coughed up.
[These kids are vicious…]
Zirkus marched towards the fallen red-haired villain, then he covered his right eye with his hand so he could “wink” twice with his left eye. He did that to take a picture of the crest on the enemy’s uniform. “Okay, this should be enough evidence.”

THE TREASURE Hunt was halted.
Apparently, the ambush team covered the entire island in a barrier that prevented Klaus Irvin from receiving the dragon’s distress signal.
Fortunately, Yelena broke the barrier.
A little after the group took down the troll and the ambush team, Klaus Irvin’s rescue team arrived. The team– composed of scary-looking men– took the red-haired villain and his minions into their custody for interrogation. Fortunately, the red-haired villain was still alive.
[I mean, he’s a bad guy. But I don’t want Yelena and Klaus to be a murderer this early.]
Anyway…
The guests were then ushered to the Irvin Estate via the same cruise ship that brought them there. And the estate turned out to be on the island not far from the Treasure Island.
Of course, Zirkus received medical treatment as soon as he arrived at the mansion.
There was only one thing that made him uncomfortable, though.
“I’m so sorry, Zirkus,” Yelena said between sobs. “Because of me, you almost lost your hearing.”
Yep, that was true.
Fortunately, the doctors in Klaus Irvin’s estate treated Zirkus right away.
[Thank goodness magic exists in this world.]
“It’s alright, Noonim,” Zirkus said, smiling. “I’m just glad that you weren’t hurt, and that you didn’t accidentally hurt Klaus Irvin, too.”
Yelena looked at him as if she was touched by his words.
“You’re the weakest among us, and yet you worry more about us than yourself,” Klaus irvin said, frowning. “Who will take care of you then?”
Oh, dammit.
Klaus Irvin must be truly a child of the shounen world.
[Isn’t he embarrassed by his corny lines?]
“Next time, just stay hidden somewhere safe,” Enzo said, scoffing. “It’s natural for a weakling like you to also be a coward, so nobody would criticize you if you ran away in a dangerous situation.”
Tsk.
Zirkus could only sigh and shake his head.
[Did these kids only come here to nag me?]
