“There was an incident during my class today.” Professor Abodine spoke with a slow bored drawl as if he was trying to irritate every one in the room full of fellow professors and the Principal of First Academy before the meeting even began.
The First Academy’s faculty lounge buzzed with activity as teachers groaned over the start of their first-day recap meeting. The air was full of a mix of exhaustion and excitement, a feeling that was customary at the beginning of every school year.
"Well I suppose you can go first Aboding, thanks for patiently waiting!" Ms. Bloom the Principal exclaimed sarcastically. She leaned back in her chair, her expression a blend of irritation and humor. "I really thought we were gonna start this year differently, go on might as finish your yearly spiel."
Mr. Anderson, the Soul World Studies teacher and odd friend of Professor Aboding, raised an eyebrow. "You're really letting him do this again after the stunt he pulled last year."
Ms. Rodriguez, the Physical Education instructor, chimed in. "Yeah, I thought he was gonna be fired after Osaka, how is he even still allowed to teach?"
"Thanks for your encouraging words," Professor Abodine, the first year modern history and homeroom teacher, spoke in his ever antagonizing way. "Number five, the Shubarashi outcast, decided to start enforcing his clan's ideology early this year."
Mr. Anderson sighed before stepping in to explain for his ever-acerbic friend. "A physical dispute broke out between Constance Shubarashi and Tristan Doe. I had to step in before things got out of hand. Aboding is right the clans have really gone too far with this time. Throughout the entire incident Constance had this cold look in his eyes, like he was out for blood. It worries me to see eyes like that in a kid that young."
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Mr. Anderson shook his head. "It's such a shame. Both Constance and Tristan have so much potential. Constance has these incredible abilities, and Tristan, well, he has that determination. I saw it in him when he stood up to Constance."
"Isn’t that what I said," Abodine exclaimed in his ever ridiculous manner. " It’s like I’m speaking a different language over here. That’s my report. I'm done here."
As Professor Abodine left, Ms. Bloom spoke up taking control of the meeting. " Now we can really get started with that out of the way."
Mr. Johnson leaned forward, his expression serious. " Shouldn't we address Constance's behavior? Won't the rank five student bullying the rank three hundred on the first day with no recourse set a bad precedent fro the rest of the year."
Ms. Bloom nodded in agreement. "Absolutely, that's why we're going to allow Abodine to handle this since he specializes in cases like this. We as fellow educators have a responsibility to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all our students not just focus on those who act out."
Ms. Bloom glanced around the room. "So, our plan of action this year is inclusivity and I was thinking we should lead with our clubs, any thoughts?"
As the conversation continued, the teachers exchanged ideas, sharing insights on how to address this year of students and prevent any unfortunate situations in the future. Meanwhile two students sat in their homes, one rich but alone, the other poor but surrounded by loved ones, and one teacher sat in his office saying
"We're gonna have fun this year."
