Chapter 5

I don’t always have a perfect sleep, but when I do…

I awoke to the chirping of the birds on the window seal of the room. They were admiring the potted plants carefully placed on the sides. The sun was just up bringing forth the warmth it has.

I smile, I felt good, more than good I felt great.

I wonder if there’s a time limit to “sleep” I slept for 10 hours it’s now 8AM.

Ah did I sleep on my hand weirdly? Looking down I see two well built arms. Not too fat not too thin, just perfect.

“...”

I get up from bed and take off my shirt and pants, my entire body is perfectly built. Like i’ve been working out with a perfect diet for my entire life.

“...”

“status..”

“HOLY SH*T”

My stats jumped an insane amount! Strength was at 742!

If this was an MMO I would be banned… My class is still the same, well, I guess i’m no longer human.

380 Unallocated points? damn that’s a lot, I’ll save it for later.

Although I does seem my skill list is the same, except for one “Colossus Gear” level E…E! Tapping on the skill reveals more information.

Allows the user to create gear using the power of the colossus.

(Can only be used by a colossus, must provide material)

“nice?”

I decide to check if George and Jane are up and head to the living room. I find them both sitting down eating breakfast. Consisting of noodles… again…

“Morning!” I say to them both.

“Oh hey Art-..........”

He stopped mid way and Jane swings her head away from me. Whats wrong? I look down to find myself in nothing but my boxers. Ah, that's whats wrong.

I quickly go back into my room to change and come back out.

“Sorry about that”

“Its fine, anyways you have any plans for today?” - George

“Well first we should check if your families are ok.” I tell them

“We both don’t have any living relatives, so we’re fine in that regard”

“Ok. Then shall we checkout what this Territory thing, I think that we should get a defensive position setup before we go into town, so we have a place to fall back to incase shit hits the fan”

“Good idea”

After an unsatisfying bowl of noodles I set out with George, Jane stayed inside the house.

“So how do you plan on getting 8 tons of wood? We don't have any tools handy, we could try to go to the hardware store, it's near the town center so we'll have to be quiet about it”

“That sounds like a solid plan B” I say confidently

“Plan B? What's plan A?” George now confused as to where I was leading him.

Around 5 minutes away from the cabin I approach a good sized oak tree.

I pull my fist back in a striking motion, I swear if this doesn't work.

My fist flies towards in a blur with a resounding crunch as the tree's bark caves in, my fist makes a clean hole through the trunk. Debre flings itself from the back of the impact

“Holy shit Arthur!” George jumped from the sight of my fist slicing through the tree, combined with the sound of the crunch

I repeat this two more times until the tree falls to the floor. Timber!

“Okey, now how do we move it? My car can’t pull a three ton tree Arthur.”

I walk over to the tree and spread my hand around the center of the trunk. I press down to see the bark crumble beneath my fingers, with one hand I pick up the tree and lift it in the air.

George looms at me dumbfounded for a few seconds before shaking his head and heading back to the cabin.

I chuckle a bit before punching another tree down.

Back at the cabin I place the fifth tree into the pile.

“Ok, George try it now”

Jane came out of the cabin to the sounds of the logging.

George taps around in the air a bit. A bright light surrounds the open space. Before dissipating and revealing a three meter tall wooden fence. It was more of a wall than a fence, planks of wood stuck out from the ground, each about four inches thick.

The driveway from the town had a wooden gate across a length of five meters.

We had basically have a fort now. Neat.

“George, What comes after the fences?”

“Umm, it says here stone walls, 250 tons of stone… so unless you can pick up boulders.” He says in unsurprising tone.

“Well, we better try then shouldn’t we?” I say cheerfully

After some quick searching around, sadly I find not nearly enough stones in the area, and unless I wanna spend the rest of my life picking up pebbles I’ll make due with the wood.

George wrote down a list of the upgrades.

***

Stone Walls - 250 tons of stone

Warehouse - 25 tons of wood

Workshop - 20 tons of wood + 4 tons of stone

Lodging - 18 tons of wood

Guard towers - 25 tons of wood + 10 tons of stone

***

George pointed out that the stone walls only appeared after he had made the wood fence wall. So more options will probably be available after we build specific buildings? Just like an R(eal)T(ime)S(trategy ) game.

Very interesting indeed.

We decide as a group to head into town to see if we can find any survivors, also to check out the hardware store and the solar store. We are going to need power sooner or later, and I don’t think the grid will last any longer.

We all hop into the car and head off to town. The gate only opens for people that are allowed access to the land.

The first place we headed to is the barricaded town hall. The place is probably has the highest chance of having survivors.

We walked up to the dark wood door, it was large, probably large enough to fit our car in there. The door seemed to be sturdy.

knock, knock ,knock

heh, pretty generic. Though I think it would come out as creepy, imagine if the world went to shit and you heard three knocks on your door.

“Hello? Anyone there~ ” I say with rising tone.

“Name!” an unknown voice calls out from the inside, the voice was deep but sounded frightened.

“Arthur, I was wondering where everyone in the town went. We’re from the cabin near the pond”

I decide to tell them our location, It would most likely make them feel more comfortable with talking to us.

“George?” the man calls out.

George steps up to reply.

“Yeah, hey I’m here with Jane… who is this i’m talking to?”

“It’s brett”

“Brett! wow, long time no see, hows the kids doing?”

The door clicks and the sound of a plank being moved pushes the door open. The inside is held up by medieval styles columns that go up along each side, the center of the room has tables and chairs and people sitting around them staring at us with fear.

“Thanks you” I say thoughtfully

George heads off to talk to brett to catch up on things that have been happening, Jane follows.

I decide to walk towards the groups of people.

“Hello! I’m Arthur nice to meet you all~” I use my usual greeting, it seems to be my thing now.

One of them turns to me and extends out his hand, I take it and shake

“John, nice to meet you to.”

“Great! Now does anyone here know anything about the system?”

“System?” A woman calls out

“Ok, I’ll take that as a no, so i’ve taken to naming the pane that appeared the “System” everything that happens is very much like the video games that people play today. Although it seems to resemble a specific genre on game called MMORPGS.”

I take a second to check if everyone got that… whatever looks like they do

“In MMORPGS you are able to increase your game characters skills by increase their statistics. This could be how strong, fast, smart, agility and dexterity you have just to name a few. This system thing allows you to do the same things. You can allocate points that you have gotten just by the pane that appears in front of you, if you don’t believe me say “Status””

Once said most of the people within the group jumped back, others just looked surprised while two to three of the people stared on with unmoving eyes.

“Now, most of you should not have a class, if you do, please stand up and identify yourself so I can help out”

No one stood up.

“ok… Well a class is sort of like a profession a skill set that you have. Some examples are Mages. No, not like the magicians that do the tricks and stuff, mages that manipulate mana to control either the elements or other things. Some examples are fire mages, water mages, ice mages etc… Now these classes have Subclasses, inferno mage for an example is a subclass of a fire mage. We have an inferno mage with us”

I point over to George.

“Now let's get serious” I lower my tone and sharpen my voice

“If you are going to survive in this world you are going to have to create a class… I’m now going to teach you how to make a class. You will first say “Create class” then you will in your mind picture yourself with your class and that only. ”

“Now, me and George have heard the situation and have invited you all to take shelter in our fort, it’s just up the road to the right near the pond, the system has allowed us to create buildings provided we have the materials, now, you're not going to live there for free, everyone has to be able to pull their own weight. ANYONE who thinks that they can have a free ride through this is going to have a bad time, clear?”

Most of them nodded their heads some looked like they were going to complain or say something but none of them said anything...except one… to be expected I guess. The man was a burly guy with a bandana and a leather jacket, he had tattoos going up and down his arms… he looked like a right dick.

“yeah? who says we have to do what you say, you look like a chump...”

WHOOOSHH!

I arrive right in front of him, I take my right index and place it on his forehead gently tapping his head.

His eyes contort and he flies away crashing down onto the tables in the center.

I don’t think he’s dead… I think.

“Now, let me make this clear. First of all now one is being forced to come with us, I am merely offering shelter that is more adequate than what we have here, I also think that sticking together would be a much better idea. Working together is the only way YOU will survive.”

No objections were seen. Satisfied I tell them to grab anything they need and get ready to leave.

I head back towards George and Brett.

“Uhh, Arthur anything happen?” George asks

“Nope” I say with a smile

“I’m going to check the stores ok? I’ll meet up with you guys at the cabin in a bit” Time to head over to the stores to check out a couple of things.

He confirms and I leave.

I bring out a shoddily drawn map George made for me. The first place I head to is the Solar store.

I arrive at the small store, and of course there's some convenient place solar panels to help me in my troubles, who would've guessed?

I head inside and grab whatever I deem necessary, a large stack of solar panels from the back, a simple charge controller. I’ll come back for the Batteries because i’m running out of hands, thank god for that one time I had an interest in solar and wind power.

I warp near the base and walk in through the gate and place down the panels

George walks up to me.

“So, we’re going to need a lot of wood for the lodging buildings, think you can get enough before tonight? it’s three now”

“We don’t actually know how big a single building is right? ah, screw it i’ll smash the whole forest down”

After a long time of punching and crushing I have a good stack of 20 trunks in a triangular pile.

“Go for it George!”

A blinding light envelops the open area within the gated land.
