Finding out my wife was reincarnated in another world!
Prologue: End of the old life, start of the new!

Prologue: End of the old life, start of the new!

The old wooden front door opened as an elderly gentleman slowly makes his way across the threshold into the rustic house. The floor creaks as he enters the house and he says "I'm home!". He then realizes that there is nobody else at home; the children are grown up and on their own, living their lives with their own families. His wife has just passed on, but his old habit of greeting her upon coming home is still an everyday part of his life. How was he going to spend the remainder of his life without her? He paused for a few long moments, remembering the smile on her face just yesterday, before closing the door behind him and facing the now empty-feeling house. The silence of the house was one he was not sure he would ever become accustomed to, but he felt he must make the attempt for her sake, if nothing else.

Hunched over, he slowly makes his way up the stairs and towards the bedroom. The creaking of the floorboards being the only sound in the house, he enters the bedroom and sits on the bed. He reaches his aching, wrinkled arm over to the nightstand and pick up a framed photo. He gazes at the photo of the two of them on their wedding day several decades ago. His wrinkled finger traces her hairline down to her cheeks and chin as he pulls the photo towards his lap, gazing down upon the photo. A drop splashes on the framed photo as he realizes the tears that he thought were shed were starting up once more. Taking off his shoes, he leans back onto the bed still holding the photo as he finds himself tired after a long day of attending her funeral and her burial. Soon he drifts off to sleep, wondering how to go on without her.

Soon after falling asleep, he finds himself surrounded by white clouds above and below him. A deep voice then reaches his ears.

"Hello, my child."

Stunned, he blinks a few times before answering. "Hello...God?"

"Yes, it is I! I have something for you."

"What do you have for me?"; he says nervously.

"You have done well in your life and I am pleased with how well you have taken good care of those around you, including your wife, for those many years. The souls you have helped to save are a testament to the good you have accomplished. I would like you to help out in another of the worlds I have created. You will be well taken care of, all of your needs will be met. I just ask that you continue to trust as you have done for decades."

Nodding briefly, he replies. "It will be good to have something constructive to do instead of...."; he wipes his eyes briefly.

"Yes, you will have plenty to keep you occupied...among other things. I will also leave you with some parting gifts for you to use once you arrive. Farewell, my child."

With that, the image of God and the clouds begins to fade as he prepares himself for his new role on some new world.
