CHATER 853

Xavier frowned, clueless about what Jonathan was getting at.

Jonathan stood up, “I’m not one to harp on the past, but I’d appreciate it if Mr. Flemmings would stay

away from Estelle in the future. I’m taking Norah with me, and I won’t forget that you saved her from

Nicolas.”

Xavier looked up at him, “I’m not sure what you’ve heard, Mr. Lamont, but if you fancy Estelle, then

trust her!”

“That’s between me and her!” Jonathan retorted, turning to leave.

Norah knew it was time to go. She thanked Xavier, Damian, Zachary, and the others, “I appreciate your

kindness these past days. I’ll come to see you guys again.” Damian, Zachary and the rest were

reluctant to see her go, “Norah, whenever you’re craving barbeque, come to our place. We’ll stuff you

full for free!”

With teary eyes, Norah nodded and tried to smile.

Turning to Xavier, she was clearly sad to be leaving, “Take care of yourself and cut down on the

smoking.”

She then forced a light–hearted smile, “Don’t celebrate my departure just yet. I might pop up again one

day!”

Xavier felt uneasy, but simply nodded, maintaining his usual cool demeanor. Seeing that he didn’t bid

her goodbye, Norah was a bit disappointed. She turned to catch up with Jonathan..

As they watched her go, Zachary and the others couldn’t help but sigh.Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

Xavier sat smoking, his eyes shrouded in gloom amidst the curling smoke. With Norah gone, the

barbecue place suddenly felt desolate and empty.,

Just before clocking out, Estelle received a call from Jonathan. He was in a meeting and asked Millard

to pick her up.

Estelle didn’t mind, “I can get home by myself, no need to bother Millard.”

“Millard’s already on his way!” he said flatly.

“Alright then!”

Estelle hung up, sensing something odd about his tone, but she assumed it was because he was in a

meeting.

After Millard dropped her off at the Royal Mansion, she grabbed dinner in the food street and came

back when it was pitch dark.

She spent an hour drawing some designs and then played a few rounds of games with Henson. It was

almost 10pm, and Jonathan hadn’t returned, so she decided to go to bed by herself.

She left only the bedside lamp on. Half–asleep, she heard the door creak but he didn’t come into the

room.

Estelle got up and saw Jonathan sitting on the couch with only the floor lamp on. The dim light cast a

gloomy ambiance around him.

She sat next to him and asked gently, “Did you have a drink?”

“No!” Jonathan answered, then finally looked up at her.

Estelle sensed something was off, “What’s wrong?”

Jonathan slowly said, “Norah has been working as a waitress at Xavier’s restaurant. Why didn’t you tell

me?”

Estelle was taken aback, “Norah likes the vibe at the barbecue place and was worried you guys would

stop her if you found out. That’s why she didn’t want me to

say.”

“What kind of vibe?” Jonathan narrowed his eyes, his tone icy, “A vibe where she mixes with a bunch of

men?”
