Prologue: The one Invisible to Fate

Prologue: The one Invisible to Fate

Images flashed acrross a crystal ball, the orb was a fate seer's orb, one who can read the flow of fate and pass on forunte tellings and prophecies uses this orb. Not anyone can use a crystal ball, only those with the gift of fate sight.

First an image of an infant appeared newborn and crying.

Second image was that of of a golden sun over an emerald green forest.

Sometimes these prophecies can be cryptic, I have no idea what this image represents

The third image shown was of a demon and a dragon, entwined both thair taied fuse into one, their hands and feet touching togeather and blend into one.

This is troubleing, lets see what the next image has to offer

A siloette hero with a spear made of gold that who was flying a green flag

the last image was of a battle, many corpses was stroon around and smoke rose from a city in the background.

What an ominous prophecy.

A knock sounded from the oak door stirring me from my thoughts.

"Come in" I say. A 4 year old girl ran in holding a flower, she had golden hair and golden eyes, a trditional Y'alin human. The Golden people bless by Ooran.

"Grandma!" the Girl ran toward me brusting with energy. Geez where do they get all that energy?

"Grandma! Grandma! What kind of flower is this?" It was a rare flower, it had red pedals with blue veins throughout them.

"It is a heartflower, dear, it is useful in medicine"

"Why is it called a heart flower?"

"Because those blue lines look like veins and the red represents the heart"

"Then this is for you!"

"Ohh my, you are so sweet" I take the flower, the little angel ran out the door probably to pluck more flowers but then suddenly stopped.

"Syla?" I say, this isn't the first time this has happened. "Syla?!" I run over to her, and turn her toward me, her eyes were blank and devoid of life as if her soul was no longer in her body. My heart start to beat faster.

Why is this happening? What is causing this? Then as if it had never happened Syla's eyes blinked and life returned to them.

"Grandma? What wrong? Why are you crying?" she sounded worried. She shouldn't be worried about me.

Please i'll do anything, just don't let death take my grand daughter! I prey to the gods. Please keep her soul safe!

"Grandma, someone's comming, he wants to meet you, I don't like him he terrifies me, I'm scared!"

no doubt about it this girl is a fate seer, but what concerns me it that she was able to use her fate sight without dreaming or using a crystal ball or other methoods

As to who was comming and when i don't know but whoever it was he bring no good, perhaps i should look for this man.

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

I let Syla continue playing in the feild and I return to the crystal ball. I focus on what Syla told me but the images I got were extreamly blurry. This has never happened before in all my life as the Arch Fate Seer have I never failed to tell a prophecy, not once have I ever been wrong, how is it that my little grand daughter is able to see what I cannot? I focus as hard as I could but the Image is still too blurry. How can this be? Why is this happeneing? And most of all, who is comming?

The answer to that question would be answered four days later.

It was a dark rainy evening, I had just put Syla to sleep and started to wash the dishes using water from a bucket that was left out all day to collect rain. The bucket was placed tot he runoff from the roof would help fill it, although with these rains I doubt it needed the runoff to be filled. After finishing with the dishes I sat in a rocking chair next tot he fireplace and listened to the pounding rain. I liked these late evenings, somthing about the rythmic beat of the rain puts me at ease, even the low rumble of far off lightning was soothing.

A sharp rapping sound came from the door? Who could it be at this hour? Thera? Faro? Or is it someone else? Someone who I couldn't see weary i grab a knife from the kitchen and go to the door. Knocking came fromt he door again and I carefully opened the door, my heart beating so fast and loud I though it could be heared though the door, a tall man in a dark rain cloak was at the door, my grip on the knife tightened ready for anything.

"Are you Hirae?" the man asked.

I gulped "what is it you want?" I ask surprised at how steady my voice was.

"I heared your prophecys are never wrong. I find myself lost, Lost at life and in need of..." he paused for a moment, "guidence".

"I don't tell prophecies anymore, I am sorry but I retired last month perhaps you should talk to the new Arch Fate Seer he is more than capable I trained him for many years" This man scares me, there is something about him, something off.

"I have already been to him, and many others they all have been unable to read my fate"

My heart sinks. "Please leave, now"

"Very well but your grand daughter is doomed to live a short life-"

"LEAVE!" I screamed

"In a months time your duaghters soul will forever leave her body, her vessal is too weak to contain it." The man said walking away. "When you have no where else to go send your prayers to the feather" The man dissapreared into the night at the door was a large feather, there was no other way to describe it, the color was blackish, a swirling, shimmering blackish color. What was it?

"Please! Someone! Anyone! Save my grand daughter!" I shout, it has happened again Syla is lifeless again, it's been hours this has never happened before. Syla lay upon her bed her eyes blank almost as if there was no soul.

"Please! Please dont let death take her!" this had been happenening more frequently over the past four weeks.

"Ooran! Vestil! Shurai! Please you're gods you must have the power to do something!" tears streamed down my face. How can I ever show myself to my daughter if I let her child die?

There has to be someone, anyone, anything and then I remember. A feather, I don't know why I kept it I ran over to it above the unlit fireplace. I roughly grasped the feather. "Please if you have the power to save her, Please! I'll do anything!" then a knock came from the door. I ran over and threw open the door, there is no way, no way he can be here mere moments after, and yet there he was he held a lit lantern in broad daylight but the lantern was anything but ordinary. It seemed to be made out of the same "material" the feather was, and the cloak the man was wearing was likewise made of the same material.

"What are you?" I ask in disbelief.

"Just a lost man in need of guidence"

"Please" I say desparate. "Save Syla"

"I already have" the man said smiling.

"Grandma? Who is that?"

I whirl around I couldn't believe it, there is no way. how? When? Then I turned back to the man stunned. He only smiled at me.

I take the man to my crystal ball, it was on an oak table with tarrot cards laid out on it. I found those cards somewhat limited in their tellings but a little more easy to channal my power through them. The man looked at the ball, then looked at the cards as he sat down across from me setting his lantern down on the table.

"What is it you want to know?" I ask it is easyer to read the flow of fate if there are specifics.

"To start of with lets do a general reading"

I focus on the crystal ball, for anything about this man's fate, his death, his purpose, anything but i got nothing. I sighed, why is this happening, have i lost my ability? No, i have never heared of that happening. Next I try the cards, but got nothing meaningful out of them. I tried several other methoods, casting bones, fire reading, nothing came up, it's almost as if this man had no fate, like he was undead. But if that was the case I could still get a reading that this man is undead, but i don't even get that reading, this man is an enigma.

"I can't, I can't get eny reading. I am sorry, even after you saved my grand daughter"

"I half expected this, I believe it's your instraments, they aren't ... for lack of better words, sentitive enough"

"Then maybe with the current Arch Seer's-"

"I'm afraid they won't work either, I expected this. Let me forge you something better" The man said cutting me off.

"Forge me something better? What do you mean?" I ask bewildered.

The man hovered his hand over the tabled and the same blackish material sprayed out of his hand like a mist forming into a blackish crystal ball

"Try this"

"W-W-What? What did? How?" I was flabergasted I had never seen anything like this

"Go on, try it" the man said with a smile.

I placed a hand upon the crystal ball and focused on the man's fate, it was so easy, the images came so easy but then the crystal ball did something unexpected the images materialized in the form of cards in the middle of the table, one after another as the images changed.

The first card showing men starved to the point of being skin and bone.

Famine

The second card showing a town, empty and in disrepair.

Desolation

The third card showing a golden sun over an emerald Forest.

This card was familure, had I seen this before?

The fourth card Showing the embodiment of death, with his scythe

What does this mean? Why is it the fourth card?

the Fifth Card showing an Apple

This telling makes no sense, yes desolation follows after famine but no other cards makes sense well at least I got something, even if it doesn't make sense.

"Perhaps a more focused question? Maybe we can get something a little more decipherable"

"No need" the man said with a dark look in his eyes. "I have what I came here for he took the cards and left without saying another word
