Author Note: Not so much happening in this chapter mostly gaining skills and the like. Character is still building and will get on with more action in the coming chapters. Will be doing a proofread and editing sometime this weekend of the previous chapters and I know there are quiet a few glaring mistakes so I apologize for that.
Hmm well first order of business now that no more Kobolds will spawn here is to give the pile of corpses one last look over for any items I missed as I didn't have time to search them all earlier. I found another sword and dagger each as well as another red potion. Time to use Identify on my items to see what goodies I acquired.
Low-grade Health Potion
Any alchemist would consider this a waste of resources as the effects are so low.
A skilled alchemist would be able to double the efficiency of such a potion.
Will heal wounds for up to 20
Ah excellent a health potion and I have two of them! I will need to study how the wound healing works in detail to see whether it can restore or reconnect limbs in future. I suppose I drink it rather then apply it to the wounds.
Now if game logic still applies then the blue ones should be mana potions.

Excellent I wasn't disappointed. I got one from each shaman so that makes two. Now to see what these books are. I have high expectations as they came from shamans so maybe they will be magic books? Let's test the book from the first shaman first.
Burning Hands Spell Book
A beginner spell for the apprentice wizard. An important and useful spell for any wizarding arsenal as it has a variety of uses.
Damage deal to enemies 10 on initial contact plus burning effect if they catch alight
Mana cost 5
Jackpot! If I can learn this maybe I could become a mage. Problem is though how do I learn it as one quick glance in the book shows the contents in runes and strange diagrams which make no sense to me. Well I guess I will see what the other book is then
Spellcraft Compounding
A truly ultra rare skill, so rare in fact that it could almost be said to be unique as the difficulty is extreme and requires experience
A passive skill that allows spells of different elements to be combined.
Wow as expected of a boss drop it isn't half-baked.
I opened the first book as it was of a beginner wizard grade and tried to read the book and match up some of the symbols and runes inside. We have an extensive library on site dealing with ancient cultures so maybe I could cross reference them and see if I can understand any of it. Failing that there is always the internet on the computers here. After I completely read everything from cover to cover the book flashed suddenly and turned to dust.
You have learnt the spell Burning Hands

I was completely dumbstruck for a few seconds. How did I learn the spell as I couldn't read the language? I guess as it was a magical book then the knowledge within was magically etched into my brain. Makes things much easier this way rather then doing hours of research that might or might not have bore any fruit. This combined with the other book would make me very powerful once I had a handle on things and developed more. I wonder if I can learn magic by experimenting or do I need to have the correct spells and scrolls? Pity the book turned to dust as I can't study it more or share it with anyone else. Well I should check to see if my hypotheses is correct and that just by going over every word in the book will allow me to learn it.

So that worked now how do I actually cast spells? I thought of my hand being on fire and brought my hand in front of my chest and yelled out "Burning Hands".

Ouch ouch ouch that hurt like a son of a gun. The effect was different then I had imagined and a blaze went up from my hand and up towards the ceiling. Only problem was my face was in the way in the process. I dashed to the mirror to examine my face and didn't know whether to laugh or cry I had some burnt flesh and my eyebrows were completely burnt off while my fringe was singed black. Perfect time to test the recovery potion out.

Bit of a waste as I hadn't lost that much health but more importantly I had to fix my face! Looking in the mirror while the potion did its work I saw my face was completely healed but my eyebrows didn't grow back nor were there any changed to my hair. Suddenly the sprinklers kicked in and the fire alarm started to ring. Great the only spell I had was fire based and because of the water downpour it would be reduced to half.
You are the first person to cook something in the new world and earned the unique title Gourmet Chef

Might as well use the mana potion as well. If I got the first position on leaning magic then I should gain first position on using a mana potion. That and I should try to be at full heath and mana whenever I can as one can never know what kind of trouble I will run into and best be as prepared as possible.

Congratulations on being the first person to forcibly restore mana using a regenerative item and gained the unique passive skill Half Casting Cost
Half Casting Cost
Mana consumption for spells only requires half the cost as someone would pay without this skill
Oh now that is pretty damn sweet if I do say so! Now time to allocate some of my stat points out. What should I focus on? Obviously I want to boost my magical ability asap but I also need to have more physical ability for when I run out of mana or for some reason can't use spells.
