Magic is the manifestation of supernatural phenomenon due to supernatural causes, often many conventional laws are broken when not in compliance with the will of a specific magic. The harnessing of such power makes for a potent weapon, and also a powerful tool of creation, however, there are some limitations that keep this power out of the hands of the common plebeian. The first is the availability and implementation of the necessary materials required to manifest magic. The key resource needed for the manifestation of a magical spell or ritual is the fuel, or mana, commonly supplied in the form of a mana crystal. No being may cast a magical spell without using an appropriately sized crystal or stone, regardless of ambient mana or inherent magical alignment as interaction with mana without these mediums will cause instant genetic abberation and decay. The second is the ability to link the symbolic parameters to the conceptual, logical and mathematical instructions needed for fine control. The control of a magical phenomenon is key to both personal safety and satisfaction at a spell well cast. It takes a large amount of concentration and, strangely enough, creativity to both manifest and control a spell in the correct dimension, orientation, form, and (if necessary) velocity.

In ancient times the use of magic was widespread and used by millions across the globe, the construction of standing stones, deep sea pyramids and gravity-defying castles floating in the sky being some of the many constructions formed using both persistent and situational rituals and spells. The reason why we did not encounter magic in the millennia before the Dawn Event in 2019 was simply due to the lack of available mana crystals. At some point in time, many years ago, the availability of these crystals declined to the zero point and demand remained the same, resulting in numerous bloody conflicts between individuals and societies who had managed to stockpile resources needed to cast spells and perform rituals. Many years pass until all knowledge of magic is either lost or destroyed. All that remained, remained in myths.

On March 19th, 2019 a meteorite landed in regional Australia containing a single large Mana Crystal, enough for about two hundred Tier 1 situational attack spell. Authorities were called into the region due to the sighting of strange lights and increased animal aggression. The Crystal was brought into the Woolombi Testing Facility in central Australia for safeguarding and examination. On April 2nd of that same year, all personnel on base were found dead due to unknown causes. There were no signs of violence, no chemical residue, and no damage to the bodies in any way other than damage consistent with falling over from a standing position. Three days later, on the 5th of April, the event known to most as the “Dawn” and to a select few as “The Severance of the Divine” rapidly caused changes all over the world. The event itself was designed to destroy the siphons leeching the planetary mana or “ley” lines. It appeared that the beliefs of humanity pertaining to the divine had manifested over the years to create Gods and Goddesses from all religions, superstitions, and cults. These divine manifestations contained immeasurable power due to the mana taken from the earth, however at the dawn of monotheism and the concept of omnipotence, the load became too much and stripped Earth of its final reserves of mana. It is theorized that with the sacrifice of hundreds of willing participants across the globe, and the deaths of the personnel at the Woolombi Testing Facility, these siphons were destroyed and the excess mana was diverted into another ritual that opened several small portals into a mana-rich plane. This connection resulted in an osmotic effect where ambient mana flowed from an area of high density into an area of low density to even out the difference.

The resulting changes in the mana pathways in the lower mantle of the earth resulted in several different outcomes. The first outcome was that the ambient mana in the environment increased the physical prowess of the local flora and fauna, including humans. For some reason, the increased mana in the air enhanced both the nutritional content of food and the ability of consumers to make use of the added nutrition. The second thing to happen was the establishment of void zones, these void zones contained powerful mutated creatures who act as guardians for small portals into separate realm areas which contain key materials for both spellcraft and advanced materials testing (due to the ambient magical energy in the environment)
