Prologue: The day I died
“To resolve the problem of unemployment, I propose that women should stay at home while men go to work…” I threw the remote at the TV, destroying the screen, I was so pissed off at them!! I can’t believe that in the 21st century ideas that sexist could still exist and be tolerated. Not that I’m surprised that it would come from this political party. I mean what could you expect from a Nationalist party… What a way to start my morning… Well anyway it was time to get ready for work.
I took a fast shower, then put on my favorite t-shirt with ‘Men are like dogs, keep ‘em on a leash’ written on it and some jeans. For me clothes were used to send a message, even those without one written on it, that was why I didn’t wear ultra-tight tops with barely-there miniskirts, I wanted to send the message straight available woman for a committed relationship with a man who respects women and not plaything who doesn’t care about being respected. I did get that being sexy meant being confident, but for me there was a limit between being sexy (which I was totally for), and dressing without any self-respect. Well I had to stop rambling and go to work.
I was itching to write this month editorial about the ** who said that women should stay at home. I was sure the readers of Equality, a feminist, pro-LGBT magazine would love to hear about it - few people followed what was being said in the EU parliament - and it was my duty as the editor to inform them.
As I was thinking about how to organize my article I heard a woman shouting, I ran to where the voice was coming from until I arrived at a dead end and found a man tearing a young woman’s clothes from behind while holding a knife to her throat. He was so focused on her that he didn’t realize that I was there. She was looking at me in despair, as if she was saying ‘run away and call for help’, but I couldn’t leave her like this so I threw my purse at him as hard as I could, hoping to make him drop the knife. Sadly I wasn’t that lucky and while it made him drop the girl, the knife was still in his hand.
He jumped at me and tried to slash me but I managed to dodge and yelled at the girl to run away and call for help. She looked at me and ran away. The man stared at me with hate and lust, he then lunged at me once again, but this time I was ready for it and I grabbed his wrist and made him drop the knife, but he still managed to kick me into a wall. I felt a big shock coursing through me, especially in my head, and then I felt something something warm dripping down my neck. I touched it and when I brought back my hand in front of my eyes it was coated in blood. I was getting dizzy but still saw the man picking back the knife and coming toward me with a sinister smile on his lips, sure of his victory. My vision started to shrink, everything was turning black. I heard someone shouting “Stop, Police!” and then I lost consciousness.

When I woke up, I couldn’t see, feel or hear anything, I couldn’t move either. I thought that the accident must have messed up with my head and that from then on I would live the life of a blind, deaf and paralyzed woman. It seemed worse than death.
“Calm down my child, you’re dead.” A feminine voice said. Dead?? No!!! I will never be able to read fantasia again!! No!!! As if… While I loved fantasia there were so many worse things for me like how I would never get to have a family and how I wouldn’t be able to make the world a better place…
“I’m really sorry that you had to die at 28. But look at the bright side, you saved a girl before dying.” Said another woman.
“Yeah, stop whining.” said a third female voice.
Suddenly I realized that I could speak and I replied “Where am I? Where are you? Who are you?”
“You are in the void, that means everywhere and nowhere. We are far away from you on the planet Erty and we’re talking to you through magic. And to answer your last question we are goddesses. I am Gyntho¹ the goddess of women.” Said the first voice.
“I am Iso² the goddess of equality.” Said the second voice.
“I am Kelet³ the goddess of magic.” Said the third voice.
“Why have I never heard of you then?” I asked.
“Oh that’s because we’re not goddesses of Earth but we’re goddesses of Erty.” Said Iso.
“So why are you talking to me?”
“Well… We have a problem, you see, on our world there is no gender equality…” Iso admitted.
“What!? They still live in such a retarded way?!! Why haven’t you changed anything??”
“Well, the power that the gods have over the world depends on the world, so since men have more power than women in the world, it’s the same for gods so we can’t really interfere…” Kelet deplored.
“And that’s why we joined together to find a feminist to reincarnate so that she could change things, and you’re the first one we’ve found.” Explained Gyntho.
“Yeah don’t believe you’re special.” Kelet added.
“Why does Kelet hate me?”
“Don’t worry she doesn’t hate you, she’s that way with everyone she likes. If she hated you she wouldn’t even talk to you.” Iso replied while laughing.
“Ok, so what should I do?”
“You mean that you accept?”
“Sure, I want to help my fellow women!”
“Well, we leave it to you, do as you want as long as it helps our cause.” Said Gyntho.
Before I could reply everything became white and then everything became black again, but this time I could hear a heartbeat and muffled noises.
1 : Gyntho : Gyne (femme) + orthos (right, straight)
2 : Iso : Iso (equal)
