Aelius was surprised. The list was long and it seemed that they were multiple classes for which he had a high level of compatibility. The top one being [Spirit Healer] with the highest number he's seen there and when his mind focused on it, a description notification jumped toward his eyes.
[ (E) Spirit Healer - 89% Compatibility ]
[ Heal the weary minds, cleanse the corrupted souls, hearten the virtuous hearts ]
It definitely sounded like a job he would love to do. To help all those that suffered from inside just like he did right before coming here. He liked to hang around the healers, he always volunteered in class when someone needed to go to the infirmary and the teacher asked who wanted to accompany them.
He knew that, sometimes, Faust words were hurting much more than Rulius fists. Faust and Rulius were two kids from his class who always liked to mess around with people, Faust never hit anyone because he let Rulius do it but he’s the one enjoying the most when the girls cry.
The school healer can cure people that Rulius hurt, however the only thing he can do about those Faust hurt is to give some sweet words and a sugar with mint syrup. It makes the tummy feel better but doesn't do anything for the heart ache. Sounds like this is a class that would allow him to do more than a mint syrup’s sugar.
By curiosity he still looked at the other class with the highest number of compatibility.

[ Ensure the spiritual side of the temple ]

He was a little thrown off by the shortness of the description. What does it even mean ? This class seems to have a twin, maybe it will help to understand, he thought as he focused on it.
[ (L) Sacred Temple Guard - 21% Compatibility ]
[ Ensure the physical side of the temple ]
Well. It didn’t help at all. It looks like each class protect one side of the temple and he was more compatible with the spiritual one. Maybe he has more affinity with spiritual stuff in general as the class with the greatest number was [Spirit Healer]. Finally he looked toward the last class that attracted his attention.
[ (V) Lost Beastmaster - 82% Compatibility ]
[ Beasts can also become Lost, you can become their home. ]
In a way, this one is much more straightforward. But I still don't understand at all. What’s becoming Lost about ? It seems very important to this place. But not the same Lost as usual. It’s for those who don’t have a place to go anymore if he follows what the grandpa stranger’s thoughts told him. So it should be a class where you become the place where those Lost beasts go ? It was a bit weird. Aelius wasn’t certain to understand it right and he didn’t want to become someone’s home much.
If he had to choose a class from the list, he would much rather choose one that he understood actually. [Spirit Healer] had the highest number and he understood it. He would take it.
He was throwing a last look at the class list to be sure he missed nothing when he noted something weird. They were letters between brackets to the left of the class names, which he mostly ignored as he thought it was some part of the System like chapters in a book, and the compatibility number seemed to be ordered for each letter rather than in general.
But there was one class with a letter but no compatibility number. It was sufficient to make him curious and focus on it, hoping that the description will be the more helpful kind.
[ (U) Caretaker of the forgotten temple ]
[ Lost, you found the way to the forgotten temple and now you aren’t lost anymore, help it not to be forgotten anymore. ]
Aelius' heart accelerated with each word he read. It felt less like a description of the class and more like a request formulated to him by this lieu. He looked around. He liked it here. He felt great in it. When he lost everything, it welcomed him. When he was filled with impurity, it cleaned him. When he unexpectedly ranked up in an unknown location, it revealed its secrets to him. Without realising it, he already began to build a relationship with this place. He knew that eventually, soon, he would have to leave because he needed to go back with the others. But something of him belonged here. And he wished to be able to come back. Deep inside, he knew that choosing this class would bound him solidly here.
Maybe there’s no compatibility number because there’s no need, he thought.
He’s already linked to this land.
So he chose it with a smile.
And a very light heart.
Light as a feather.

He… Kind of understood ? Basically, he’s now a friend of the temple and its inhabitant ? And his job is to take care of it ? Like how he got to take care of his desk in class.
It sounded well anyway, that was a job he was able to do. And he liked it, the friends. He didn’t want to be alone anymore, now. He felt better and wanted to go back, the temple was a nice place but it was empty, too empty, and empty reminded him of him being alone and him being alone reminded him of his parents. And he didn’t want to think of his parents in that way.
He turned back inside him, to the flowers land, and he began to gently ask the purple flowers to bring him back. Strangely tough, this time they didn’t react. No breeze. He felt like he missed something but wasn’t able to find what. He tried a few more times to no avail. Aelius just sat here, in the puddle, wondering about it. Was there something he did the first time differently ? Maybe he needed for his heart to burn very hard for it to work ? He hoped it wasn’t this, because he didn’t want to go through this again. Then, the stranger’s thoughts came back.
Will it. You need to will it.
Yes ! He remembered now. Aelius turned his inner gaze toward the purple flowers and willed it, there the familiar breeze blew upon the land, he was ready to go at the second he wished for it. But before leaving he wanted to thank the temple, he helped it a lot and gave him his name, it wouldn’t be polite to leave without sharing his own.
He stood up, focused hard and answered both in a clear voice and thought, not sure which way was better to talk to.
“Thanks for the help ! My name’s Aelius ! I’m five ! I really like you so I will come back and take great care of you ! Promise !”
And then, he wished it. With a big smile on his face. Hearing his own voice made him feel alive. But just before he disappeared, the thoughts came back against his mind, seemingly bigger than before.
A gift for you, young Aelius.
To help you on the path.
Without thinking much, he accepted it and allowed it to reach him inside. Gifts were always good, right ? And mom said not to refuse a sincere gift when Nikki wanted to give him a doll of Snako, his least favourite cartoon’s hero. So he accepted it, with the same big smile.
Then he disappeared.
