Chapter 25

Night fell and by morning Seth had revised his plan and was ready for step 4, an easy but nevertheless important step that needed to be done to perfection.

Seth needed to deliver a letter that warned Jogn Evergreen of the crown's potential safety. Now usually the thief wouldn't do that, but Seth needed to, and it was a vital part of the plan.

He needed to make sure the letter was delivered in time and not ignored so Seth devised a plan in which his letter posting was effective.

Firstly, he wrote a letter using the best writing Seth could produce to say the warning in a polite and informative way. He then visited his local butcher's shop, and, in disguise, he bought a head of pig.

He then delivered both items to his mansion and handed them off to his guards. Seth then frantically ran off.

Sure he could have done an elaborate thing but sometimes simple was best and a pig's head was horrifying enough to get the message through. Even if the guards looked in the package first, even though Seth told them not to, the message would still be effective.

Seth then prepared for the next day by doing a little bit of shopping. When night came Seth was back to work doing a bit of gardening in his fancy local tavern.

Richard was all the same, a predictable alcoholic and he showed no signs of improvement. It was just more complaining about his extra training and practising.

Seth even managed to learn Richard's entire status screen, and this is what he learned:

Name: Richard Evergreen

Class: Pompous Actor/ lvl 48

Skills:

=Attention On Me! (Mastery/ Intermediate 421/1000)

=Morning Ready (Mastery/ Advanced 1211/10000)

Seth was absolutely stunned at the mastery of the second skill, which was an advanced skill. You were meant to have those at levels 60 or 70 not when your level 48.

It seemed that drinking himself to death was somehow productive from Richards's perspective. He would get up ready like nothing had even happened.

And the first skill was just as impressive, it was practically tailor-made for an actor and then Seth learnt that John had bought it for Richard for his awakening gift.

That was the wealthy or you, you could somehow buy your son's own talent for a price making even the worst wastrel a talented man.

Seth felt even less sympathy for this man. Before he thought at least he was talented in his own right, but it seemed that it was bought by daddy, and he hadn't even earned that. It seemed that Richard hadn't done anything with his life except upgrade his skills.

Seth finished up talking to a man who had been given it all and walked back to his small home. At least he had earned what he had, and he felt pride in that. Actually, Seth did wonder what level John was as his son was fairly high-level.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

Seth knew the levels got harder to increase as they went up, but John must at minimum be in his 60s combine that with the fact you gained a skill slot after level 50 and Seth now had to factor in 3 skills that could be insane due to Johns wealth to the plan.

Now Seth could right assume that the skills were factored to help with the business and the fact he won the bid for the Emperor play was a hint at one of them but that still left 2.

Well, Seth didn't want to stay up all night thinking, his head was starting to hurt from the extreme use of Serene Mind to stay sober, so he fell asleep to think about it more in the morning.

With 10 days left until the show began and all the seeds planted Seth just needed to cherry on top for his plan to come to fruition.

Days passed and Seth kept up his plan, carefully continuing with a mix of drinking with Richard, playing poker with John and observing his 2 key locations.

Security had decreased at the mansion but subsequently increased at the Theatre and as the days past the guards only got more on edge.

Seth continually planted ideas of thievery into Richard until finally the results bloomed on a lovely Tuesday night. This was 3 days before the heist, which was planned for the Friday.

Unlike the day before when Seth met up with Richard, this time instead of coming in already drunk Richard was as sober as a judge. He walked over to their table, without taking a girl with him!

This is completely out of character!

Seth knew what was happening though, but he feigned ignorance.

"Yo Richy, what happened to you? You almost look... normal."

Richard looked happily at his friend, What he took from that sentence was that he wasn't normal and that obviously meant that he was incredible. What else would it mean?

"Set, brother I came up with a plan alright. Now keep it down as it's pretty genius if I don't say so myself." He looked so proud and almost smug as he leaned down and started to explain his plan.

"I'm going to rob the crown! I know, calm down. Trust me, I've thought this through entirely and there's no way we get caught."

Seth felt like most people who got caught, said this. I mean it was breathing like a red flag, it dressed like a red flag, and it talked like a red flag. It had to be a red flag!

Well, it wasn't like Seth was planning on following his `master` plan.

Essentially his plan was to take the crown after his performance and replace it with a fake, he would then smuggle out the real one and sell it. Seth's job in all this was to find a fake crown.

Luckily Seth miraculously had just the crown for the job, but he told Richard he would need a few days. He wasn't that big of an idiot, most of the time.

The plan was actually pretty good, ignoring the fact that Seth had spoon-fed the plan to Richard over the past few days and Seth would almost say that Richard was fairly talented.

Interesting parallel to his acting talent there and Seth wondered if fate just favoured the guy. Not like he was going to let him keep the crown.

After they agreed to the plan instead of actually going through the plan removing faults, or maybe talking more about the plan to make sure both parties had a good idea of what their roles were, nope Richard wanted to celebrate his genius plan by drinking until dawn.

Seth had to follow as he was the alcoholic friend but as soon as Richard headed for the toilet he was out of there. He said his apologies and wished Richard the best for his future, knowing how much family money he had Richy was likely going to succeed no matter what.

Back in bed, Seth was fiddling with his new snakey boi when he thought about something strange. Could he potentially train the snake to help him steal?

Distractions were key, and a snake was a great distraction.

Looking at the snake's green eyes shining up at him, oh so innocent. Not for long, Seth immediately started his animal training and because Ouro is such a smart mythical creature he actually learnt quite quickly.

Seth wasn't teaching algebra, he was teaching the snake to run up to someone and then when the person went up to the snake, Ouro would run away.

2 days of training and scoping out passed and Seth was finally ready for the finale to commence. He had delivered a fake crown; he had riled up an angry John and he had a snake ready for distraction. Suffice to say Seth was ready to get the play started.

"Let the show commence!"
