Chapter 4 - Brilliant, Green Light

Chapter 4 - Brilliant, Green Light

Under the night sky filled with twinkling stars and an unusually large full moon, in the great desert of Roa, a woman sat next to a fire burning in bright blue.

The woman cried, with her face in her hands.

She had done everything in order to stop it from happening, yet there was nothing she could do to stop Fate from happening.

Next to her, another woman lied in a puddle of blood. More blood seeped out of the dead woman's slit wrists.

After some time, the crying woman refused to sit down any longer, and stumbled up on her feet. She gazed coldly at the body of her significant other.

She stood there for a while, silent. Frowning with a tear-stained face. As the moon journeyed down and the sun began to rise.

As the blue burning fire reduced to cinders. Finally, she moved. Slowly towards to the body. Kneeling down, turning her love to lie on the back.

In order to catch a last glimpse of her beautiful, but now extremely pale face. She moved strands of hair resting on her beloved's face and gently pushed them behind the cold ears.

After several minutes, another tear fell down her cheek.

Then, a blue light emitted from her eye, slowly radiating towards her lost love. As it reached the body, a small blue flame was lit.

“Why did you have to do to this? Was living truly not worth it any longer?" she said in a sad, but low tone.

"This is all because of Fate. I hate it. I hate Fate, I hate Chance. Just let me be!” She cried out as the blue flame burned brighter and increased in size, slowly covering the entire body.

After some time, when her love was reduced to nothing but ashes, she reached for a dagger placed on her waist. She held the dagger firmly in her hand and turned the pointy end to face her abdomen.

She wanted it to be painful. She was giving up her long fight and this was how it was ending.

She gathered strength and pushed the knife towards herself. But as she did, a brilliant green light fell from the sky. Creating a beacon of green light in front of her. She stopped herself and stared into the light.

Out of the beacon, a woman dressed in a white robe walked out.

“I see you have given up. Is this truly your decision?” the white-dressed being said.

The woman stared in dread. “You have come to take me as well!?” she cried.

With a wicked smile, the woman who walked out of the light stared at the ragged woman and said “Soon, very soon. If it is revenge you seek, I shall give you one more chance, Rosalee”.

Rosalee stood still with her mouth open, not realizing when she had opened it. She was confused more than ever.

“What is this chance you speak of!?” She suddenly yelled, taking a stance ready for battle.

“Your Chance shall come only when you decide for it!” the woman replied with a smile on her face.

Upon hearing this, with lightning reflexes Rosalee threw her dagger at the woman in front of her, wishing for a quick and sure kill.

As the dagger whistled through the air, Rosalee ignited it with her blue flame.

“Yes, even with your last struggle, an even crueler death shall be yours!” The woman laughed, waving her hand as the dagger simply turned around and with an even quicker velocity reached Rosalee’s abdomen.

“I was denied to take my own life, and this is how you decide to take it!?” She yelled, as her body was lit on fire.

She cried and screamed as the sun rose, leaving a red, almost golden light across the skies.

The screams reached far into the distance and people were to speak of this horrifying sound as the death of a mythical beast in the desert.

Rosalee, with blood now flowing out of her eyes, screamed with even more dread as the woman walked closer.

Closer, and closer. Until that wicked smile was right in front of her.

Then she reached forwardand whispered into Rosalee's ear, “I've won”.

Rosalee fell down to her knees, not understanding what those words meant. Not understanding how this being had done any of this, but she understood one thing crystal clear. This being had caused all her suffering up until now. Why was not known, but it was just as the Seer had claimed it to be.

Fate had turned against her, and her life had been claimed.

Rosalee kept burning, and the woman stared at her with a smirk. As she did, a hole in the ground opened and another woman levitated upwards. Red smoke rose with her.

This woman was transparent, while also radiating a red light.

“It seems I win again” The woman dressed in white said, to which the transparent woman only nodded and smiled.

“Lacking the words as usual” The woman dressed in white said, now with a frown on her face. “Why am I even bothering with this?”

The other woman simply smiled and waved a hand one time towards Rosalee.

The fire stopped burning and Rosalee simply stared at them both. With no life in her eyes she simply sat still on her knees.

The woman waved again. This time, Rosalee’s skin dried up and changed colour to a grey hue. This followed by her skin slowly but surely changed into stone and short after, she had turned into a statue.

“Very well, it seems like you still lose. Will you not give up soon?” The woman in white said, to which the other woman simply smiled and shook her head.

Then the transparent woman turned around and walked towards the hole. Right as she reached the hole, she once again turned around to face the woman in white.

She smiled once more, gave her one last wave and leaped backwards into the hole as it closed, leaving no trace of ever being there.

The woman in white waved her hand, creating another green beacon to which she stepped into. Then she too vanished, leaving only a no longer living Rosalee, alone, to her eternity.
