Chapter 6: New Beginning

Chapter 6: New Beginning

Jake and Anna had just finished selling the monster meat they hunted in a nearby town. They were now sitting down, discussing their next move. They had to decide if they were going to continue with their usual routine, or if they were going to pursue their dream of becoming adventurers.

Anna: "So, what's next? What are we going to do?"

Jake: (wondering for a bit) "Well, originally I wanted to become an adventurer to search for my sister. But, it's up to you. What do you want to do?"

Anna: (doesn't like the idea) "Of course we're going to find your sister! I just don't know if becoming an adventurer is the right way to go about it."

Jake: (trying to calm Anna) "I know it's a big decision, but we'll figure it out together. Let's not rush into anything. Let's take our time and think it through."

At this point, a waiter interrupts the couple, bringing them their drinks with a stoic expression before leaving.

Anna: (sipping her drink) "I'm sorry, I just can't shake the feeling that we should be doing more to find your sister."

Jake: "I know, and I appreciate that. But we need to be realistic about what we can do and make a plan that we can follow through with. Let's not make any impulsive decisions and let's think this through together."

Anna: "You're right, let's take our time and come up with a solid plan."

Jake: "That's the spirit. We'll figure it out together. We'll find my sister and we'll make it as adventurers."

Anna: "I'm with you, let's do this"

Jake: (smiling) "Great, let's enjoy our drink and make a plan."

Jake: (after a few drinks) "Alright, let's make our plan. If we're going to be adventurers, we'll have to travel a lot. But, if we stick to being freelance hunters and herbalists like we are now, we'll have more time to search for Jenna."

Anna: (wondering while drinking) "But we didn't have much money. Our money depends on what we sell."

Jake: (nodding) "That's true, but there are pros and cons to both options. Being adventurers will give us more money, but it will also mean that we'll be away from home more often. Being freelance hunters and herbalists will give us more time to search for Jenna, but it may not be as profitable."

Anna: "I see your point. It's hard to choose between the two."

Jake: "Yeah, it is. But, we have to weigh the pros and cons and decide which option is best for us. We have to think about what our priorities are and what's most important to us."

Anna: "Our priority should be finding Jenna"

Anna: "My opinion is still the same, finding Jenna is our priority and I don't mind which path we take to do that."

Jake: "I understand where you're coming from, and I agree that finding my sister is our top priority. I've been thinking about the pros and cons of each option. Being adventurers will give us more money, but it will also mean that we'll be away from home more often and it will be more dangerous."

Anna: "I see the point but I would do anything for your sister"

Jake: "I appreciate that. And being freelance hunters and herbalists will give us more time to search for Jenna, but it may not be as profitable. And it's also less dangerous but there's still some risk."

Anna: "I don't care about the money, I care about finding Jenna"

Jake: "I understand and feel the same. We'll make the best decision for our family, we'll do whatever it takes to find my sister"

In his mind Jake knows he wants to find Jenna, but he just wants to rule out the pros and cons of being an adventurer. Meanwhile Anna felt like Jake was somehow seeing the world around him differently. It was just a hunch but it was somehow calculated like mindlessly following a story.

Her train of thoughts was interrupted when:

Jake: "I'm glad we're on the same page that our priority is finding Jenna."

Anna: "Me too, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes."

Jake: "So, let's talk about how we're going to make this happen. I think we should become adventurers, it would give us more money and resources to search for Jenna."

Anna: "I agree, but I don't want to take on any missions that would take up too much time or be too high risk."

Jake: "I understand where you're coming from. We should focus on missions that are quick and easy and that also can provide us with good money, so we can focus on searching for Jenna."

Anna: "Exactly, that way we can search for Jenna and make money at the same time. That's the best of both worlds."

Jake: "You're right, we'll make sure to find a balance. We'll take missions that provide us with enough money and resources to search for Jenna while not taking up too much of our time."

Anna: "Sounds like a plan. Let's do it."

After finishing their drinks, Jake paid the bill and he and Anna thanked the waitress before leaving the bar. They stepped outside and began searching for the adventurer's guild branch in the town. As they walked past the city, they talked about their childhood memories playing near the waterfall together.

Anna: "Remember when we used to play by the waterfall when we were kids? "

Jake: "Yeah, those were the days. We used to catch fish and explore the woods. Do you remember the time when we got lost in the woods for hours and thought we'll never find our way back home."

Anna: "I still remember how scared I was, but you were always there to keep me calm. And then we found our way back just before it got dark."

Anna: "You know, when we were lost in the woods as kids, I think that's when I first started liking you"

Jake: (teasing) "Really? I had no idea, I thought you couldn't stand me back then"

Anna: (blushes) "Well, you always knew how to keep me calm and that's when I realized that you're more than just a friend"

Jake: (teasing) "I'm flattered, and I must say, the feeling was mutual."

Anna: (surprised) "Really? I didn't know that, why didn't you tell me?"

Jake: (Flirtatiously) "I thought it was obvious. The way I used to catch the biggest fish for you, the way I always wanted to explore the deeper parts of the woods with you. It was all for you."

Anna: (blushes) "I see that now. I wish I knew it back then"

Jake: "Well, the past is in the past. Now we're here together, and that's all that matters"

Anna: (flirtatiously) "I couldn't agree more."

As they continued the conversation, they couldn't help but exchange flirts, and the tension between them was palpable.

As Anna and Jake's flirtatious exchange continued, it was interrupted by the sight of the Ravenvoren Adventurer Guild Branch. The large, wooden sign hanging above the entrance was hard to miss. They decided to put their feelings aside for the moment and focus on their goal of joining the adventurer's guild.

Jake: "There it is, the Ravenvoren Adventurer Guild Branch. Let's go check it out."

Anna: (nodding) "Right, let's go."

They made their way inside the building, which was bustling with activity. They saw groups of people huddled together, discussing missions and strategy, while others were checking in and out equipment. They approached the receptionist, who greeted them with a friendly smile.

Receptionist: "Welcome to the Ravenvoren Adventurer Guild Branch. How can I help you today?"

Anna: "We're interested in joining the guild and taking on missions."

Receptionist: "Great, we're always looking for new adventurers to join our ranks. Have you filled out the application and taken the aptitude test?"

Jake: "No, we haven't. Can we do that now?"

Receptionist: "Of course, the application and test are available, you can fill them out here."

Anna and Jake filled out the forms and took the aptitude test, and waited for the results. They were eager to become adventurers and start their journey of finding Jenna, and the guild provided a great opportunity for them to do so.

As they were waiting, they were also aware that they needed to talk about the feelings they had for each other and make sure that it wouldn't interfere with their plan of finding Jenna. They were determined to keep their priorities straight, and together they'll make the best out of this journey.

Anna and Jake were both taking the adventurer's guild aptitude test. The test was designed to assess their skills and determine their strengths and weaknesses as potential adventurers.

For Jake, he was tested on his sword skills and simple attack magic. He was asked to demonstrate his abilities by performing a series of tasks and exercises, such as cutting through targets, deflecting projectiles and casting simple spells. He was also assessed on his physical strength and endurance.

Anna, on the other hand, was tested on her herbology and archery skills. She was asked to identify different types of plants, their medicinal properties and how they could be used to create potions and remedies. She was also tested on her accuracy and precision with a bow and arrow, as well as her knowledge of different types of arrows and how they could be used in different situations.

After the test, they waited for the results, they were both hoping that they would pass and be accepted into the guild. When the results came in, both of them were accepted into the guild with flying colors.

Jake: "We did it, we passed the test!"

Anna: "I can't believe it, we're officially adventurers!"

Jake: "Yes we are, now it's time to start our journey, to find Jenna and make our dream come true"

Anna: "I couldn't agree more, let's start training and prepare for our first mission."

As Jake and Anna waited for their test results, the tester who assessed their skills was having a conversation with one of his colleagues about the unusual equipment and techniques that they had used during the test.

Tester: "Did you see that kid, Jake? He was using some kind of weird breathing technique I've never seen before. It was like he was able to harness and control his energy in a way that I've never seen before."

Colleague: "Yeah, I saw that. And what about that girl, Anna? She was using a bow with wheels. I've never seen technology like that before."

Tester: "I know, it's quite fascinating. It's like they're using something different. I'm not sure where they get these tools from"

Colleague: "I agree, it's quite intriguing, these tools are completely out of our knowledge"

Tester: "I am curious about the source of those tools, but that doesn't change that they both have passed the test with ease."

Jake and Anna set out to find an inn where they could spend the night. As they walked along the way, they couldn't help but converse about the events of the day.

Anna: "I can't believe we passed the test, we're officially adventurers!"

Jake: "I know, it's crazy. But we've worked hard and now we're one step closer to finding Jenna."

Anna: "Exactly, and now we can start taking on missions and earning money to fund our search for her."

Jake: "Yeah, but we have to be careful. We don't want to take on any missions that will take us away from our goal for too long."

Anna: "I understand, we'll have to find a balance. And also make sure to keep our skills sharp and ready for any challenges that may come our way."

They continued to talk as they walked, discussing their plan and strategizing for their future as adventurers. After a while, they finally found an inn that looked suitable for their needs. They approached the innkeeper and secured a room for the night.

As they walked further they found an inn and decided to go inside, they approached the innkeeper and secured a room for the night.

Innkeeper: "Welcome to the Green Dragon inn, I'm Vania, How may I help you?"

Anna: "We're looking for a room for the night"

Innkeeper: "We have a room available, the price is two coppers per person and an additional one copper for breakfast."

Jake: "That's reasonable, thank you"

Innkeeper: "Great, here's your key, enjoy your stay."

Anna: (looking at Jake with a hint of jealousy) "Thank you"

Jake and Anna then went to their room, content with the price and the fact that Jake didn't reveal how much money they had on hand. As Jake and Anna settled into their room at the Green Dragon Inn, Jake couldn't help but express his excitement about the comfortable accommodations after a month of sleeping in a tent.

Jake: "Wow, this bed is so soft and this room is so much better than our tent. I can't believe how far we've come."

Anna, however, couldn't help but feel a hint of jealousy as she noticed the way Jake smiled at the beautiful receptionist upon check-in.

Anna: "I noticed you were smiling at the receptionist, is everything okay?"

Jake, with a grin on his face replied: "I was just trying to flirt with her, but it seems like I can only get your attention with that kind of move."

Anna playfully rolled her eyes, "You know I can't resist you when you're charming like that"

Jake, then moves closer to Anna and said with a husky voice "I'm glad you're still affected by my charm"

Anna, feeling the heat rising in her cheeks leans closer to Jake and whispered "You have no idea"

What followed was a steamy night for the couple, full of passion and desire for each other after a long day of training and planning. As they lay next to each other, exhausted but happy, they knew that their journey as adventurers will be an exciting one, with each other by their side.
