Chapter 2: Everyone Needs a Friend

Chapter 2: Everyone Needs a Friend

Okay chapter 2! This one will be shorter but Chapter three is so long. So more for you ^^.

----------------------------------------

Hayate's heartbeat pounded harder and harder till finally his surroundings started to get dizzy.

How about you let me take over? Sleep a little Hayate. Looking at the memories, you had a rough time.

"N..No..."- Hayate

It will be fine. Besides the best one to deal with problems that has nothing to do with fighting is me.

"N...."- Hayate

Slowly Hayate's eyes went dull as his body went limp. The second after his body went limp, his eyes flashed with a sudden light. His eye color turned green as so did his hair. Siting up again, he slowly took in his surroundings. He laid his eyes on the mirror that was in his room.

"Well, well, well. What a peculiar sight. It seems my hair is green and so is my eyes. This must be a first I say."

Moving towards his desk, he took out a pair of glasses from his drawer. Putting on the glasses, he stared at the mirror again.

"Sigh. Hayate really needs to keep our hair tidy. I don't mind it being long but at least make it look neat. Unlike Tamotsu who likes it wild, we need to keep our looks clean."

Taking a ribbon from the desk drawer, he tied up his hair in a ponytail.

"Ah much better. Now, what do we have here?"

Taking the bat again, he opened the curtains to confront the past scene. But nothing was there. No blood, no corpse. Nothing.

"Strange. This isn't what the memories showed..."

Opening the window, he checked the surroundings. The usual garden that was placed in front of his window was now replaced with concrete. It seems that outside his room was a bunch of roofs with concrete bridges connecting each building to each other.

"Mmm... It seems we are not home. Further things need to be taken in consideration. One is the fact that our house is on top of a building. Two it seems the other buildings have similar houses. There are even some trees on other buildings as well. The third thing that needs to be talked about is the fact..."

Looking at the sky, his eyes narrowed.

"-that the sky is red. What an odd entity."

As he studied the surroundings carefully he heard footsteps. Hearing the footsteps getting closer, he fully turned his body to the left to meet the sound. There was a figure of a person.

"We are in an unknown place and I had to be the one to fight... Curse that Tamotsu. Why do I have to be the one to deal with such barbaric things!"

The figure got closer till the person was clearly visible. The person was wearing a black hoodie with long sleek black pants. Skulls were painted on the hoodie and blonde hair seeped out underneath it. But that was not the only thing that was out of place. The fact that the person had a black gas mask made him become alert. The person seeing the fact that he was getting ready to fight waved their hands wildly while yelling.

"$&$%**!"

Weird... I can't understand them. That isn't Japanese.

The person got closer which made him get even more wary.

"^*^*^*^?"

"Step back! I know how to use this simpletons tool! Who are you?"

Threatening the person to stop, he felt like they didn't want to listen. Continuing to walk forward, he had no choice to but to hit the person with the bat.

"I warned you! Aahhh!"

Once they came in arms length, he swung the bat straight towards their head. He suspected them to either dodge or block it with their arms but the person did nothing. He was surprised by this. When the bat got closer to the head of the person, he witnessed a shocking sight. The bat hit against a red glass like plate. The red plate blocked the attack and bounced back the bat. The person just continued to walk past him and into his room as they started to look around the room. Shocked, he just looked at the person without moving. The person finally found his phone on his desk and started to tap through it. After a few minutes of doing that, he finally shook off his shock and approached the random person.

"Hey what are you doing with-"

"Finally! I got the settings done."

The person who was just speaking another language not even a minute ago was now clearly talking in Japanese. He was speechless.

"Well since you can understand me now lets-"

"You can speak Japanese?! Then why didn't you respond to me early?!"

"Now now calm down!"

The person tried to calm him down. He slowly calmed down but still was wary of the random person who just walked in.

"So. Answering my question again, who are you? Why didn't you respond to me when I was speaking to you earlier? Why did you speak in another language if you knew how to speak Japanese?"

He picked up his bat again as if to warn the man.

"Hey! Calm down lad! You won't be hurting anyone with that thing. As for the reason why you think that I can speak Japanese, it's due to the fact of your Deadmans Codex."

This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author's work.

"Deadmans Codex...? Wasn't that a tool in the 'Fantasy Dead Online' game?"

"Oh you know of it? Interesting fellow."

He slowly lowered the bat as he stared at the man in disbelief. The man just took out his phone and started to fumble through it.

"So you're saying that this is a Deadmans Codex...? Nonsense! It was a fantasy tool from a videogame! It can't be real!"

"No lad, it's very real. This tool-"

The man raised up the phone.

"-does everything that it did in that game. Even summon zombies."

"That's why its utter nonsense!"

"I guess words are not enough for you."

Tapping a few things on his phone, the man raised the phone up to him.

"Summon! Commoner Zombie!"

Shouting a bright flash of light invaded the room causing him to cover his eyes. The light soon faded away with the smell of dead flesh slowly spreading through out the room. Standing right next to the man was a Zombie. A six foot tall male Zombie with its innards slowly falling out of its gut. He raised his bat again towards the Zombie but the gas mask man stopped him.

"It's okay! It won't hurt you!"

"What are you saying!?"

"It won't hurt anyone because this world doesn't allow it right now."

After a few minutes of calming him down, the gas mask man finally got him to settle down.

"So your saying this world is like the game... But a little different?"

"Indeed."

"Well the Zombie is evidence enough. If what you was true then that means the red plates that blocked me from attacking you are like the one in the game. Interesting."

"That is why we can't hurt each other but there is another way for us to cause pain to each other."

" Death Match? Well if this world is like the game then that would be a thing."

"Ohohoh! You know of it huh?"

"Well if this world is similar to the game then I would guess that would be the only reason why people can hurt each other.... At least events exist in this world too...?"

"Bingo. This world is the same as the video game. The only difference two things. The first thing is the fact of the ground floor of the city. That is a Danger Zone. Once you go down, there is no way back up to the buildings and plus wild zombies roam that area. There is no way down or up from the Danger Zone. The second is the common known fact. Once you die, you are dead. There is no returns or revives."

The air in the room started to get colder.

"Makes sense."

"You are taking this well. More then most people."

"Well if that is how the world works then that how it is. If what you saying is true and looking at how you express your self. It doesn't seem like you are lying."

"Hahaha! You are an interesting fellow! The names Orlando D. Aquino. The Newbie Helper around these parts."

 Orlando held out his hand.

"My name is Yuu. Yuu Ishiwata."

Yuu took the held out hand and shook it. With the greetings out of the way, Orlando helped Yuu outside the house as he lead him down a couple bridges.

"First thing first. We need to get you registered to the-"- Orlando

"Deadmans Guild?"- Yuu

"Well it's like the Deadmans Guild but it's not named that. It's named the City Hall."- Orlando

Orlando explained how everything goes around the town. He explained that everything is like the game including the clans. There are four districts to the city. Every district except the fourth district is named after a god from mythology. The first district was the Artemis Guard. Set up to be the north district of the city, guarded by the statue of Artemis. This district is the merchant district where citizens sells supplies and trade. The second district is the Ra Prosperity district. The strongest clans reside here in the west part of the city. The third district is called Bishamon Coliseum. Being the largest district in the city, it holds all the city's culture and attractions. Every clan that is made in this city resides in this distract.

"-And also all newcomers first start in this distract which is exactly where we are."- Orlando

"So what about the forth distract?"- Yuu

"That's... the slums. All those without a clan are placed... Well more like forced to live there. It's not the cleanest part of the city but the clans that work in the shadows reside there."- Orlando

Orlando stopped in front of the City Hall as he turned around to face Yuu.

"Don't talk about the Slums in these parts. Those who know about the Slums most likely lived there for awhile till finally becoming part of a clan. Not worth it to make enemies around these parts."- Orlando

"Noted."- Yuu

"Hahaha good! So lets get you started."- Orlando

Orlando lead Yuu into the City Hall.
