Game 02: The Guardian of the Labyrinth

[{GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE... FUCKER!}]

...

An unknown force had mobilized a massive metal of armor in front of him. A mecha-like existence seen in sci-fi novels and fictions. The body was golden, the limbs were silver, and the head was crystal red. It featured a medieval soldier with a hair string-bundle afloat on top of it's head. Only it had sized doubled than the referred one.

"Wait, a Golem?!"

Guren, wide-eyed, exclaimed in surprise! But the initiation of the thing in front of him never stopped, even while he was in trance.

[{Target locked, initiating attack!}]

"W-wait!"

He became pale. He was certain that things would become difficult. And right away, his foresight was spot on!

[{System: Initiating; FIRE-BREATH!}]

"Hey! Let's talk this out!!!"

A storm of flame bursted from the mouth of a huge looking rock-like monster that appeared from nowhere Guren ever knew at the same time as his loud scream of plea. The {Territorial Defence Mechanism}, which Guren is familiar with, is a system built in-game of VLF to defend one's base. If a foreign object is detected within the specified territory, this mechanism will be triggered. And now the defense mechanism is being used to keep him at bay. What good fortune this boy has.

"Not going to listen, huh? Come here! SAKURA!"

Guren closed his eyes and stretched his arm, and as he shouted, a Katana (Japanese sword) appeared before him. Why was the sword named after his sister Sakura? Only he knows. Sakura was beautifully curved and exuded an elegant aura. The handle was dark with a red lining, and the blade was night-dark with a shining edge to indicate its sharpness. The curve has a red lining as well, and a phrase was carved in the blade: 'I laughed in the face of danger!' '

He smiled at the sight of the blade and thought to himself, "I knew it, since the system is working, I know the item inventory will work as expected!"

However, not only him is planning on attacking; after all, it was a battle. The golem moved towards Guren and unleashed a massive blow, destroying the labyrinth's surface. One after the other, giving Guren no opportunity to attack but only to evade.

[{System Initiating: DRAGON BEAM!}]

"Eh? In this narrow place?! You've gotta be kidding me, hey!!!"

{Dragon Beam: Master type magic is used for mass destruction over a large area. It is unsuitable for narrow areas such as labyrinths and the like. This helps to explain Guren's surprised reaction. }

*ZZZZZZZZZZZ-ZAZAP!!!

An arrow of a blue beam was released in the labyrinth's closed narrow hallway after an impending sound. This is no joke; the beam was precisely the right size for the labyrinth, leaving no room for Guren to hide or evade!

A military-annihilating wave of destructive magic is headed straight for him.

"This is bad! Is this the infamous quip, 'I'm in pitch?' But well, A gamer and his wits! If lazer is what you play at, I have one too! Release: SAKURA! Come: BRUNHILDE!"

In exchange for the Magic staff, the katana vanished. The staff had taken the shape of a spear and the color of a jet-black lined with thin red lines, with a single crimson gem at the pointing end, which was probably the source of its power.

"{Intermediate magic: ANNIHILATING BEAM!}"

*ZZZ-ZAP!!

It sounded the same but shorter, the crimson beam was released from Brunhilde battling the Dragon beam of the golem! The force of the same component magic pushed against each other in the labyrinth's narrow passage but never moved an inch. The force was probably so strong that the ends of the beams pushing against each other became stuck in the middle.

[Symtem Difficulties! Error! There's a comprehension issue! How can intermediate-level magic compete with a Dragon Beam?! ... The answer is: Error! System failed!}]

"Won't move, huh? Then the solution is simple: if it won't move by force, move it by number! Another one, Brunhilde: Annihilating Beam!!!"

Another zapping sound erupts! A crimson-colored beam was fired again, this time with more force than the previous one. Clearly, the battle of the magical beam was one-sided. They may appear to be equal in strength, but the golem's beam was outnumbered!

The crimson beam pushed the golem's beam back by numbers. As a conclusion, the clash of red and blue beams exploded with a "boom!" and successfully landed a hit on the mecha monster. However, a golem was known to be rather resistant to beams and magical attacks, so the hit did not cause significant damage. And as the smoke from the magic dissipated, the unharmed golem became immersed.

"Thought so... But I already know that! Release: Brunhilde! Come: Sakura!"

Brunhilde swapped places with Sakura, the Katana, once more. Guren then took his stance, gearing up himself for another assault. Meanwhile, the golem appeared to be wandering away from the battle. And why is this so? ...

[{Incomprehensible! Magic After magic, not, possible. Transition of spell, too fast. Not possible! System analysis: ERROR! Report: Magical Margin missing!}]

(Note: Magical Margin is used in the use of magic to create an interval in the execution of magic. However, high level mage have the ability to override this rule..)

...Guren's method of using magic puzzled and completely baffled the Guardian golem..

"You don't get it? It's fine, Guardian! You don't have to! 'cause this will be the end!"

Guren stepped up to the sword draw stace... After a brief pause, he inhaled deeply, as if gathering strength.

"FLASH SWORD ART: Form Number Two(2nd); THE WHISP'RING WINDS!"

Guren vanished in a swoosh after unsheathing with a silent whisper-like chant. Nothing but the cold wind of his path remained in his previous position. And when he reappeared...

[{(Beeep...) System notice: Critical hit confirmed!(Beep-beep!)Defence System shutting down...}]

...his sword was already sheated as if nothing happened.

"It's over. As expected, sword art combined with the virtual system is the best! Yay!"

He was celebrating alone, proudly praising his original style. However,

"...Huh?!"

[...returning to its original form...(Beep) System Initiating: Release]

"What the...?!"

The mecha monster golem began to crack in various places. The cracking lines of the vulnerability began to appear, becoming wider and wider. Finally, a massive clattering sound of falling debris was heard.

"What the heck?!"

[{Sytem notice: Initiating Restart: Mode Reboot! Operating: Guardian of The Labyrinth!"

"Eh?"

[{(Beep) Success! Greetings...}]

"Wha-...Eh!?"

[{...Good morning, Master!}]

Suddenly, a person with the appearance of a young lady emerged with a monotonous greeting. And, by the way, it was unclear whether it was still morning or not. On the spur of the moment, the guardian greeted.

[{I Am the Guardian of the Labyrinth!}]

"EEEhhhh!!!!?"

There is no such feature, nothing in VLF, so what is going on here? Nobody has even a hazy idea. As a result, Guren's reaction, a rather amazing surprised reaction, is justified...

With the appearance of this little lady, What will be his fate?

...To be continued...
