I wonder how things led up to this? Well, I can straight up say, this is all because of one game: Fallen Online.
The VRMMO that came out recently, and made a big splash in the gaming industry. With its impressively stunning graphics and complex combat system, skilled players such as myself love it.
...I’ll admit I may have died a few times too many for my liking... But! I do have some measure of skill! Trust me!
Anyways. Ahem! The game has changed my whole life. In fact... Thanks to this game, I Ren Pierce, am looking straight at total chaos courtesy of the Fallen, those who have fallen from grace. I mean I would know as I’m a Fallen myself. But the difference between me and those guys, is that I am relatively normal.
If I recall correctly, it all started to go down hill from the moment I first login to the game...

[Please chose your starting race. Please note that once your character is created, you can not make another nor delete it as it will be permanently bound to your account.] System
What... the... hell! That sounds so ominous!!! Why did the devs have to word it like that!? By “bound to your account”, does it mean that every choice I make will be permanent doesn’t it!?
From what rumors I’ve heard of Fallen Online, you are allowed to chose one of your race but the second race and the two starting classes are chosen at random. Not being able to remake the character is normal procedure but, I kind of wish I could at least customize my avatar later...
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
The appearance of one’s avatar would end up as a mix of the starting races and starting classes’ base traits along with the player’s original appearance. Even the name will be randomized!
Okay... Deep breaths Ren deep breaths... *Breaths in* *Breaths out*
[What options do I have to chose from?] Ren
[Please chose one of the following races: Human, Elf, Lycanthrope, Beastman, Spirit.] System
Five options huh… Choosing the Human race would be boring... A lot of people would want to choose the Elf and Beastman race... The Lycanthrope race is interesting but, they look kinda unstable? While it would be an interesting option, I’ll go with the Spirit race because it’s shiny. Don’t judge me!
[I chose the Spirit race!] Ren
[Acknowledged. Selecting second race and two classes at random... Complete.
Results: Race: Spirit/ ???, Class: ???,???.
Due to unique results, information will be restricted until base conditions are met.
Configuring avatar... Complete. Please choose which starting city to spawn at: the city of fire: Candlement, the city of water: Aquario, the city of earth: Quanzer, the city of wind: Sturmill, the city of light: Churchell, the city of darkness: Banenos, the city of lightning: Litmos, the city of ice: Frigeon, the city of null: Null.] System
A large full body mirror appeared before me reflecting the appearance of a slightly transparent little girl with fluffy pink hair and droopy red eyes wearing a white undershirt, a blue cardigan, a red ribbon, a red checkered skirt, black socks and brown boots. This girl is…
[What?! This is my avatar?! My sister will totally laugh at me when we meet… Ugh, I choose to go to the city of null: Null.] Ren
[Acknowledged. I wish you good luck Player: Rena. May you never fall from grace!] System
As my surroundings fade to black, I couldn't help but wonder about my future life in this game.
Guess I’ll have to play as a girl in this game, too. I hope the realism of this game isn’t too high. It would be slightly annoying if it is like any of the simulation games I had to play. Those feel way too real that I’m fairly confident I’ve lost my sensibility as a boy.
For the game I will spend the rest of my life playing, I wish for stability in the ensuing chaos.
