I awoke in my room lying in bed. Getting up slowly I blinked, trying to expel the morning exhaustion from my eyes. My body ached as I slid of my bed onto my feet. All my usual stuff was there, books scattered in shin high towers on the floor, my laptop laying on my desk surrounded by various figure sketches, and cross country trophies and plaques strung with medals. I got out of bed and slowly walked over to a second desk with numerous aluminum and brass castings surrounded by yet more books.
It was a dream. I could feel my intuition telling me that everything I owned had been taken from me, and I stood amidst an exact replica. A mixture of terror and anxiety swelled up inside of me as I came to understand that my life had now become a dream.
It was all just a facade hiding the truth of my new reality.
Like the dreams where I got to possess something I dearly wanted only to wake up to disillusionment, I stood in my new fantasy.
I awoke in a straw bed.
Feeling a stinging pain in my side I grunted and tried to control my breathing so that each breath was bearable. Turning my head I observed my immediate surroundings . I was in a small tent in the shape of a triangular prism made out of an off white cloth and held up by two wooden poles at the entrance flap and back of the tent. Seeing sunlight radiate through the cloth I made the assumption that it was daytime outside as I pulled an itchy blanket off of me.
As I moved my arm to pull away the blanket a sharp pain shot through my side causing me to stop and grimace. looking down at my side I saw bandages wrapped around my abdomen stained with a slowly growing red bloch.

Through gasps of pain I felt something soft brushing my shoulder. Turning my head to catch the source of the sensation I noticed for the first time locks of hair falling onto my shoulders and cornering my peripheral vision. I held the silvery white hair in front of me unable to believe my eyes.
I was a dark tan latino with a thick curly black main but as I looked at the hair and skin in front of me all I saw was silver and white.[1]
This isn’t my body! What the fuck happened to my body!
I reached up and touched a face that wasn’t mine. Sliding my fingers over my face I immediately noticed the absence of my light facial hair and the smooth unblemished skin masking new angular facial features . The biggest surprises came when I felt my ran my fingers over my ears. Nothing felt so strange as elongated ears. As thoughts rushed through my mind my hands never ceased to rub my now pointy ears.
I'm an elf! I'm a white haired elf!
The one question that ran through my mind was the how. The body I saw was mature meaning I wasn’t reincarnated. A terrible feeling of dread rushed through me as I thought of the possibilities.
The lich it still me from my body and put me in an elf.
An image of my original body floating in the pool lingered in my mind. pushing that image to the back of my mind I remembered the men with swords and armor who had residue me.
They must have set up camp outside of the cave and treated me.
Not wanting to stay laying in bed I swung my legs over the edge of the straw bed in a sitting position, ignoring the pain in my side as best as I could. Already feeling weak I stood up wincing in pain just barely able to maintain my balance.
Every step toward the flap of the tent set of a flair of pain into my side causing me to tremble and gasp for a breath that didn't hurt. My mind heavy with thoughts about how and what to communicate to my benefactors I opened the entrance flap of the tent revealing the Girl who had deflected the spear.
