Chapter 1: Transmigrated

Chapter 1: Transmigrated

Ever heard someone say "life is a series of unexpected twists and turns?" the first time I realize that was when I was five, my father died a day after we celebrate his birthday. His smiling face only remains a cold, motionless corpse.

That's just my personal example. Many other things could explain why our life is a series of unexpected twists and turns, like having to put your little siblings to sleep, getting an unexpected encounter with someone involved with whatever in the world is that. Having to go to your work because your boss is needing help, whether it is good or bad, every one of us has so many unexpected twists and turns. That's why we human are a creature that need to adapt, was a belief that I decide to ingrain in my head long ago but…

"Fuck… Are you kidding me?" staring blankly at the mirror inside the bathroom with half open mouth, swear word full of disbelief escape my mouth.

Image reflected appears both me and not me. But at the same it is also familiar and unfamiliar concurrently. Even I am confused with what I said, but should I say that a body that not mine is moving precisely how I want it to move? In addition, I know everything about this body like my own, including its story?

Reflected in the bathroom mirror is a boy with a facial structure that could be said as slightly above average, jet-black hair of medium length, eyes of shining black colour reminiscent of pure obsidian making them the most attractive part of face and somewhat muscular, lean body type of around 170cm marking average height for a recently turning 16 years old teenager.

"Hah…" looking at the image that clearly not of a 24 years old average adult working as a newly hired engineer, an involuntary sigh escape my mouth.

Few moments before this, when I was still sluggishly trying to wake up from my sleep, a sudden intense headache came to me. A kind of like when you got hit by metal bat and with it also came a series of unfamiliar memories of this boy… or should I say the current me?

One set of memories is the one familiar to me. The story of an average working adult man that doesn't have much happen in life on modern earth. Average appearance, average career and average obsession of playing video game that you love.

Everyone has that kind of obsession sometime right? Remember when you start playing a game and then your clock start ringing, alarming you that your week-long holiday actually ending? Maybe not game, but everyone had one thing that was useless, but they just continue doing them, right? Without caring about anything as their precious time burning to oblivion while encourage themselves that there was some benefit for them.

How many people actually had a different life than this? If not for the life-changing decision that you can follow through to the end, I can assure you most people had this kind of life too. Bitter grey-life full of regret. Where every day need to face with optimism to continue forward.

The second one is memories of a boy that live in this magic world. Family of three at the beginning, but his mother gone missing when he turned 5 with reason unknown. Following misfortune, his father tries various ways to find his mother, even to indulge in an ancient record as explorer.

His tenacity was honestly impressive for someone with apparently no talent in combat since explorer need to fight all kinds of monsters and atrocities in this world. Maybe he knows his life already on count since he also teaches everything he knew to this boy from learning some knowledge of ancient language to combat technique in case this boy needs to survive on his own. Even though they seldom spending time with each other since his father was always busy with his commitment, father's love and responsibility for his son could still be felt from this gesture alone.

But this boy's misfortune just doesn't seem to end with just that. A year prior, his father went to some place, leaving with a message that if he not back in half a year's time, probability that he doesn't make it is high but don't be sadden and he was sorry he can't give a better life for family. He hoped that this boy will just continue his own story from then on.

'Two sets of memory inside my head, though ironically the former know more of this world than the latter.'

Turning away from the mirror, I began walking around the house. Exiting from the bathroom, leisurely walking around my isolated new home while scanning through this boy's memory, I found several things that match up to this set of memories around the house while nothing of previous life remains here anymore.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

'I need to check credibility too,' even though I already had some idea about what happen here but there're probability that my prediction is incorrect. Who knows, maybe I just smoked some weird green stuff last night, and this just happens because my brain is too fucking high?

Thinking in that way, I think that will make much more sense, actually. But I'm sure not high or drunk right now. Positive. Don't underestimate the experience of newly graduate college student. Do you think I just study all the time?

A wise man once said that experience is important, after all.

Several important documents like ID for citizenship or ownership of magic item and books about magic, skills and monster which clearly would never be found on Earth further strengthen my assumption on this situation.

"Guess I really become this boy… huh?" after checking several other things in the house and through luckily found smartphone that I gain access through previous memory, I became 100% sure now.

Transmigrations. That word pop-up inside my head. Popular troupe in some stories usually target towards young adult audience. A situation where someone enters some sort of work for whatever reason as character in said work, whether as protagonist, villain, heroine, normal friend or even security guard without name that briefly mention. And I am in one of the games that I'm most invested in throughout my life.

The name is Divine Rising. A super long RPG game that starts out in a modern fantasy world that resembling earth in some parts with ample of complicated story full of twist and turn that sometime just leave me screaming like B*S fangirl along with exciting combat in field and bed.

Yes, you heard me right; they are not only famous for RPG aspect but there's plentiful of romance too in this game and player actually could go all the way through with your waifu or waifus. You could even build your own harem kingdom, if your capabilities allow that said.

"Vincent Zander, conquering to defend people. What an extravagant name… not that I hate it but…"

Why had this happened? Of course, transmigrating to another world is a fascinating troupe for readers, but I don't expect to actually experience them myself. There's a reason why story just mention some character only; because they're the main cast in this story.

In contrast, I'm just an extra. The one that does not get mention once or catches a glimpse inside the game even as NPC. Even with all my extension knowledge of this game, Vincent Zander's name is a newcomer to my ears.

Moreover, his image. How many people have the same characteristic as this guy!? Other useless NPC had more unique characteristics than this guy, like eyepatch or three boobs; hell even my former image also could be included since I had quiet large scar across my forehead.

"Hah…" thinking of how ordinary I look even in the game made me kinda depressed.

Well, let just leave at that. It was just a useless complaint now; not that it will stay the same too long if this is really inside Divine Rising. This world had many magical things, after all.

Besides, I need to think of what I should do next. Although I said this game is famous, truth to be told this game is more orient towards male player and some comrade-in-arm female player since it includes some serious hard core stuff for its romance element. The kind that would make some minority that think animation just for child questioning their life.

Why you think player can go all the way with their favourite character? Because this game is actually full of lewd stuff! Some people just see their epic play style similar to famous work like Ze*da with semi 3d graphic akin of g*d eater at the beginning but! Don't be lost gentleman, this awesome holy piece actually full-blown exciting eroge that sure would leave all us comrade-in-arm satisfactions and well…post-nut enlightenment?

Ahem…Back to topic, since Divine Rising is that type of game, there would be preferential treatment from developers towards female character. Hell, some of them might even be stronger than protagonist if not for plot. Well, that's why he protagonist after all. Beside him, all male characters in this kind of game tend to have lackluster ability. It makes sense actually since the heroine are most effective attraction in the game.

If you play a game and there's a strong, reliable, beautiful girl character and beautiful but useless girl that only know causing trouble for the protagonist like that certain pink-hair Kunoichi; seriously that's the only pink-hair I hate.

Which one you want to grueling through all kinds of events just to smash them through your computer screen!? Wait… why this somewhat sound miserable?

Anyway, the answer would always be strong, reliable, beautiful girl character. The stronger they are, the stronger their attraction to player and the better benefit they brought to developers. Above all, however, these developers also love their creation and, of course, they want to make them strong, unlike some extra they do not even plan on. Just thinking of my current situation made me want to sigh again.

The reason for this phenomenon is…unknown along with how it occurs or the way back and I don't think the answer would come in short time. Not like I can just enlightenment out of blue after all.

"My best bet for an answer is definitely there."

Since currently I don't know why this happened, it's best to assume I need to live in this world from now on.

"That's settle it"
